"I am Shimotsuke Hisanobu, the chief examiner for the first part of the Chunin Exams, the theoretical exam. The test will last until 10 AM. There are a total of ten questions on the test, with a maximum score of 100 points. Anyone scoring below 70 will fail, and if one person fails, the entire team will be disqualified."
Shimotsuke Hisanobu wrote the exam time on the blackboard and then addressed all the students in the classroom.
"Seventy points." Kakashi instinctively glanced at Obito, who was two rows behind him.
Although Kakashi believed that seventy points was easily achievable, he doubted whether Obito could complete it on his own.
"You may use any means necessary to complete the test, as long as you don't get caught. If you're caught cheating five times, you'll be immediately disqualified," Shimotsuke Hisanobu added after a pause.
The Chunin Exams allow cheating because it is actually part of the test itself.
The Chunin Exam is not just about assessing a student's individual skills; it's a comprehensive evaluation of their overall abilities. If you can't solve the problem yourself, you can gather information from others to complete the exam.
To prevent a situation where no one in the exam hall can answer the questions, Konoha even sends some ninja disguised with the Transformation Jutsu to blend in with the examinees and provide the correct answers.
"Damn it, seventy points isn't just a passing score—it's already pretty high!" Obito grumbled inwardly about Shimotsuke Hisanobu.
But after complaining, he started to feel nervous. Even though he had been working hard on practice tests these past few days, his score on the last practice test was only in the sixties.
Obito took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. For now, he prayed to Mutsuki Sage.
"Almighty Mutsuki Sage, please take me back to seven days ago so I can study for another seven days!" Obito prayed, clasping his hands together.
Obito felt that without the help of the almighty Mutsuki Sagee, he was doomed. If he failed at the first hurdle because his theoretical knowledge was too poor, and ended up causing Rin to fail as well, Obito would be devastated.
Just as Obito was filled with despair, he suddenly noticed that the test paper handed out seemed somewhat familiar.
Obito picked up the test paper and carefully looked at the questions. His expression quickly changed from worry to joy because he had seen similar questions before, and Mutsuki had explained them. Although the actual questions had some changes, the differences weren't significant.
"As expected, Mutsuki Sage is truly almighty!" Obito cheered inwardly and began rapidly answering the questions.
Even though he hadn't scored seventy points before, Obito was confident that this time he could surpass his limits and reach a high score of seventy.
However, Obito knew that the strength to break through his limits didn't belong to him but to Mutsuki Sage.
"Could it be that he just happened to come across questions he knows how to solve?" Kakashi wondered after noticing Obito's excited expression.
This was indeed something unlikely for him, as there was practically nothing within the scope of the Chunin Exam that he couldn't handle.
Kakashi then began answering the questions at high speed. Although Obito seemed quite confident, Kakashi didn't trust Obito in this area and planned to finish quickly so he could find a way to pass the answers to him.
"Thank goodness for Obito and Yumi-sensei." Guy also breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the content of the test paper.
Mutsuki, considering Obito, naturally didn't forget about Guy, who struggled with theory just like Obito. That day, he had Obito take two sets of practice papers and give one to Guy.
Ebisu, unaware that Guy had gone through a period of intense practice with those papers, felt lucky that this time his seat was right behind Guy, making it very easy to pass answers.
At the beginning of the exam, almost everyone was busy working on their papers, and the room was filled with the sound of writing. After all, at that point, there was no one to copy from since no one had finished yet.
"Seat five, row four, you and your teammates can leave now," Shimotsuke Hisanobu said calmly midway through the exam.
The Grass Ninja he called out showed an expression of disbelief and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't there supposed to be five chances?"
"Yes, there are five chances, but you've already been caught five times," Shimotsuke Hisanobu replied indifferently.
The other students who were cheating immediately became more cautious, realizing that no warnings were given. Once the limit was reached, they were disqualified on the spot.
The Grass Ninja was at a loss for words and eventually walked out of the classroom with a disappointed expression, followed by his teammates.
With the first team eliminated, the atmosphere in the classroom suddenly became tense and serious.
Taking advantage of the moment when the senseis and students were focused on the eliminated ninjas, Zabuza quickly used the Hiding in Mist Jutsu. The thick white mist enveloped the classroom, and Zabuza swiftly grabbed his teammate's answers and began writing furiously.
By this time, Kakashi had already finished his own test and had also prepared the answers for Obito. Seeing the mist rise in the classroom, he immediately threw the answers toward Obito's position based on his memory.
Ebisu, while silently admiring the boldness of these foreign village ninjas, quickly passed the answers to Guy in front of him.
The mist came and went quickly, and the proctor senseis immediately used Wind Release to disperse the fog, revealing a classroom full of students who appeared to be behaving perfectly.
"Time's up. Everyone, put down your pens. The exam results will be announced at one o'clock," Shimotsuke Hisanobu instructed as soon as the clock struck ten.
Obito, who had finished before ten, casually left his seat, feeling that this had been the easiest exam he'd ever taken since starting theory lessons.
"Obito, how do you think you did on the exam? Do you think you can score seventy points?" Rin asked with concern as they walked out of the classroom.
During the latter part of the exam, she was ready to pass the answers to Obito, but he signaled to her with his eyes that he didn't need them.
Rin decided to trust him first and ask questions later, so she didn't pass the answers to Obito. Now that the exam was over, she asked him casually.
"I definitely scored over seventy points!" Obito responded confidently.
"That's great! If that's the case, we should have no problem with the first part of the exam," Rin said with a smile, clapping her hands lightly.
"This time, I can actually believe him. After all, I practically fed him all the answers. If he still didn't pass, there's nothing more I could do," Kakashi said with a nod.
He had given Obito all the answers directly, so as long as Obito copied them, he was sure to pass.
"So it was you, Kakashi..." Rin began to thank Kakashi on Obito's behalf, but Obito quickly interrupted.
"What do you mean, 'fed me all the answers'? I didn't copy the ones you threw over; I wrote everything myself," Obito hurriedly explained.
Obito didn't want all the credit for passing the exam to go to Kakashi. He admitted that Kakashi's answers were helpful, but he didn't copy them—he only glanced at them. The real MVP was Mutsuki.
"Are you sure?" Kakashi asked, looking into Obito's eyes.
"Of course!" Obito replied, standing tall.
"Then we might be in a bit of trouble. Rin-chan, you should prepare yourself for the possibility of being disqualified along with him," Kakashi said, turning to Rin.
Kakashi knew Obito too well, so he could tell that Obito was telling the truth—he really hadn't copied his answers.
"Hey, hey, Kakashi, what do you mean by that? Do you think I can't score above seventy on my own?" Obito asked, feeling indignant.
"Have you ever scored above seventy in any of your Academy exams?" Kakashi countered.
"Well, that was in the past. Things are different now. Now I have Yumi-sensei's help," Obito said, implying that he had improved significantly over time.
"You'll find out at one o'clock," Kakashi replied.
"Let's hope you're not just talking big, or else it will only hurt you and Rin-chan," Kakashi said. Hearing the name Mutsuki gave him a bit more confidence in Obito.
