Chapter 3139: "Romantic" Wedding Season (23)

Shiller and two others stood in mid-air, looking down at the scene below. They watched Stark take the lead with Pepper following behind him, allowing the wind to hit only one person. If they took turns doing this, the heat loss would be slower.

"He's still so clever," Shiller said with a smile.

"What should I do?" Eddie asked, spreading his hands. He didn't have a camera, so how was he going to shoot these scenes?

"You just need to watch with your eyes," Shiller replied. "Venom will remember all the images you see and store them. Later, when creating illusions, the Magician will just extract them from your mind."

"The Magician has that ability?"

"Even if he doesn't, we can have Professor X do it. Don't worry about using a camera."

Eddie nodded but still didn't know how to get across, so he looked to Dream Power Doctor Strange.

Before Dream Power Doctor Strange could speak, Venom couldn't stand it anymore. Suddenly appearing behind Eddie, he roared, "This is a dream! Just imagine yourself flying, wouldn't that work?!"

Eddie then realized, and as he flew towards where Stark and the others were, Venom kept nagging.

"Every time you have those weird nightmares, I've been shouting at you to imagine a pair of wings for yourself, but you just don't listen. Every time, I have to rescue you…"

Meanwhile, Shiller and Dream Power Doctor Strange arrived at another dream scene, this time with Steve and Carter.

Unsurprisingly, Steve's initial dream was on a battlefield, but it looked like a strange war since it was in a desert, and Captain America had never participated in the Afghanistan war.

Steve was in a small room helping a pregnant woman give birth, frantically cleaning blood and feeding glucose water to the nearly exhausted woman.

Shiller's original script had Steve and Carter surviving in a primal rainforest, but seeing this, it seemed there was no need for a script, as this situation was far more perilous than a rainforest.

Dream Power Doctor Strange looked at him, and Shiller nodded, clearly both on the same page.

Quickly, Carter burst through the door, shouting, "I heard there's a pregnant woman in need of help! I have wartime medical experience, let me help!"

Steve quickly made way for her, staring at Carter's side profile with a puzzled look, then said, "Sasha? Is that you?"

"It's me... oh, my God, Steve, are you also on a mission around here? Never mind, now's not the time to talk about that. Help me find a small knife, we might need to operate on the pregnant woman…"

Steve had just turned to leave when there was a loud bang—a shell had landed less than three meters from him, thankfully a ruined shelter in front helped block some of the impact.

Steve's extensive battlefield experience made him immediately roll to the left, and sure enough, under the cover of the artillery, enemies rushed out from the right. Steve hid behind some nearby ruins, unnoticed, and once the enemies left, he quickly sprinted across the street to another ruin.

Just as he thought about crossing the ruins back to his original camp, he saw a terrified family of three hiding in a corner. Steve hesitated briefly but then directed them saying, "There's a temporary shelter over there, you might be safe if you can make it."

The dusty-faced man looked wary, but the woman holding a child seemed ignited with a glimmer of hope. As Steve left, the family of three rushed out of the narrow ruins.

Steve heard a scream that seemed to come from the man, but he couldn't worry about that now, as gunshots were getting closer.

Shiller's last stop was Peter's dream, which was quite peculiar. Peter found himself in a huge slide maze, sliding from one slide entrance to another, never reaching the exit.

It was evident he had played too many slides during the day.

Peter had a thrill-seeking gene in him, having gone on the most exhilarating slides during the day, probably embodying the saying, "What one thinks during the day, one dreams of at night."

Dream Power Doctor Strange clapped his hands gently together, and a wave drowned the entire dreamscape. Peter was clearly taken by surprise and was washed far away, floating on the water for a while before realizing what had happened.

However, when he looked around, there was no land in sight. After floating for a long while, he finally saw a sailboat in the distance.

The people on the small sailboat seemed to have noticed him too and adjusted their sail direction. Peter was quickly rescued, and upon lifting his head, he saw Gwen looking at him with concern.

In that moment, Peter's heartbeat was almost audible to Shiller, but soon he seemed to remember something and said, "Gwen? Is that you?"

"Yes, I came from the island in the south. How are you all alone out here?"

"I don't know, I seem to have been overwhelmed, maybe I fell into the water."

"That's so sad. I'll get you a towel. Would you like some hot water?"

"It couldn't be better." Peter indeed felt a bit cold as he rubbed his arms and shivered.

Gwen brought him a thick towel, the scent of which was familiar to him. He dried his hair and sat on the side of the boat, sipping hot tea.

"Where are you heading?" he asked.

"I'm heading to the island in the north. I heard the fruit there is ripe, and I can replenish my supplies."

"Can we go together?"

"Do you know how to climb trees? The fruit grows on very tall trees, and I can't collect much by myself in one day."

"Of course, I can! I can climb very high trees," Peter suddenly laughed and said, "I've always liked high places. I can even climb to the top of the mast."

"That's great. My food supply is running low. If you come too, perhaps we can gather enough for half a month."

"What are we waiting for? Let's go."

"Do you think I'm being partial toward him?" Shiller asked Dream Power Doctor Strange, who just stood there silently, not speaking. Shiller explained on his own, "The sea has its gentle side but also a violent one. When it changes its mood, everyone must fear it."

"This fear will deeply engrave itself in their minds, affecting their subconscious, making them anxious and worried, metamorphosing into reality in their dreams."

Dream Power Doctor Strange did nothing, but just as it was getting dark, a gust of wind suddenly arose over the sea, nearly capsizing their small sailboat.

The awakened Gwen hurriedly took down the sails. Peter helped her straighten the mast, and together, they stabilized the boat, but the subsequent windstorm still kept them extremely busy.

Water began to seep into the boat, submerging some supplies stored in the hold, but they were too busy setting up a rain shelter and, unable to anchor due to the deep water, could only paddle with oars, heading toward the nearest island by memory.

After a night of fierce winds and sudden downpours, by the time it was light, the damaged sailboat had been washed ashore, and both of them had been washed onto the sand. Peter woke up first.

He looked around, confused, but noticed the pale-faced Gwen first. When he called out to her, he discovered that her body temperature was extremely high and she was still trembling.

Peter had no choice but to go to the sailboat and find the towel from yesterday. He wrung out the water, dried Gwen's body, dragged her to a shady spot, and cooled her down with the wet towel.

However, the salt from the seawater was uncomfortable on the skin, and a feverish person needed water replenishment urgently. Peter had to carry Gwen on his back, heading deeper into the island searching for freshwater.

Meanwhile, in Stark's dream, they found an old, disused Forest Keeper's cabin where they could finally rest temporarily.

It was a dilapidated, drafty little cabin, but there was a fireplace. Since there were no logs nearby, Stark had dropped the stuff and gathered some thick branches from the nearby woods. They sat in front of the fire, warming up and sharing the scant food they had.

The cozy moment didn't last long—they soon heard the rumbling sound of an avalanche. The two immediately rushed out of the cabin only to find their pathway buried by the snowslide; they had no way back.

Their food supply was meager, and water was almost gone. The trees behind the Forest Keeper's cabin were too thick to cut with the tools they had, so they could only pick up branches for warmth.

Seeming to follow their instinct, the two cuddled together and fell asleep, the fireplace's glow reddening their faces.

And as the moon hung high, they suddenly heard wolf howls. Stark, who woke up first, saw through the window multiple pairs of shining eyes and quickly shook Pepper awake.

Pepper was startled, but they had no weapons. Stark grabbed a red-hot poker from the fireplace, and Pepper grabbed a long branch ablaze with flames. One guarded the door and the other the window.

The already damaged window broke first. A wolf's head squeezed in, and Pepper, gripping the branch, struck it fiercely. But soon, another stronger wolf barged in.

Pepper screamed shrilly, struggling to swing the slender branch in the cramped space. In a quick response, she grabbed a heavy travel bag beside her and smashed it against the wolf.

"Ow!"

The gray wolf howled painfully as Stark swung the poker, hitting it hard on the wolf's head; the brain matter splattered, and the wolf fell, whimpering.

But as the door defense broke, another smaller gray wolf squeezed in. Pepper pulled a fiercely burning branch from the fireplace to fend it off, but in a swift move, it dodged past her, sinking its teeth into Stark's leg.

Stark let out a low agonized cry, turning back to hit the gray wolf's back with the poker, while Pepper even directly grabbed the wolf's waist and threw it into the corner, taking up the backpack for another hard hit.

It seemed the wolves' painful howls drove the pack away. The two guarded a while longer to ensure safety before checking on each other.

The bad news was that Stark's calf was severely injured, almost making it impossible for him to walk. The good news was that the remains of the two wolves meant they wouldn't worry about food for the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Steve managed to safely get a pregnant woman, who had just delivered but lost too much blood during an episiotomy, rendering her immobile. Carter and Steve fashioned a makeshift stretcher, carrying the woman and the newborn through gunfire, finally reaching Steve's base safely and rescuing the mother and daughter of a family of three from earlier.
