It is a new day.
Another day for great opportunities. But it was another broke and jobless day for Abe.
Ever since he finished high school, he has been jumping from one job to another.
He didn't even bother going to college.
There were no funds and he wasn't really interested.. for now.
Right now as it is, he couldn't find a stable job, it's either he gets fired or he quits in anger. Not after giving the boss a middle finger.
It was like all his former bosses were weapon fashioned against him.
To put it in a simple term, they were all hateful people just like Mr Fredrick.
Talking of Mr Fredrick, if given a choice, Abe wouldn't want to see him this early morning.
He knew it was just going to be him and Mr Fredrick arguing back and forth.
Nothing good ever happened whenever they had a conversation, not ever since his mum died.
But it wasn't everyday Mr Fredrick called for him early in the morning.
‘Let's get this ever with’ Abe thought, sighing.
When he got downstairs, he saw Mr Fredrick by the dining table, having his breakfast.
He didn't really care about what he was eating, all Abe really cared about was to listen to what he had to say, as fast as possible and to leave his sight.
"You wanted to see me?" He said leaning on the wall a distance away from the dining table.
"Can't even greet? You were taught better than this" his father said, not even raising his head up.
'What the f--k? Did he just say that? Hey old man, you didn't teach me shit. Talking about moral teaching,’ Abe said in his mind.
He wasn't really going to say it out loud, it's too early for trouble.
"Good morning sir, you wanted to see me" he said through gritted teeth
" There is nothing good in the morning boy," Mr Fredrick replied.
'Urgh come on, there is nothing good in the morning? There is nothing good in the mor….then why'd you make me say it in the first pla..”
"Since you've decided to laze around the house all day and do nothing" Mr Fredrick continued, cutting off Abe's thoughts.
"Lazing around? Did you just say I'm lazing around the house?”
" How many times do I have to say it? I told you I was fired and once I get another job I'll be away from your sight if that's really what you want to know. And I think I've always promised to move out of your house once I get enough money to afford my own place" he said, now he was getting angry
"You've been fired for 3 months now, you eat my food, you live under my roof.
At least be like your sister, be useful like her.”
“Tasha's got a job and not just a job, she's a nurse at that big hospital" Mr Fredrick said, as he raised his head from his food for the first time to look at Abe.
"I eat my own foods Mr Fredrick, I buy my own foods and please don't compare me with my sister." Abe said frowning
"You will speak when I'm done boy." Mr Fredrick was also getting angry.
This is exactly how their father and sons conversation always goes, both of them getting angry and honestly Abe would be surprised if they ever had a peaceful conversation.
"You've grown, but not enough to talk back at me boy so you will listen and obey whatever I say to you because now I'm telling you that I'm sending you off to your uncle John's" he said authoritatively
"Uncle John's place? I'm really not surprised. Tell me really, why haven't you done this a long time ago?" Abe said not feeling any bit surprise about what his father just said.
"Well I am now, and I know you're very happy that you're leaving my house so keep your complaints to yourself. I'm going to work unlike you and this money here is enough for your transport hopefully John will be able to show and teach you about the reality of life" he said
"Ohh I think I know enough about the reality of life when mom died Mr Fredrick, or do you really think I've forgotten about that night?"
