Chapter 159

Javier was surprised to see Alexis. "How may I owe this visit?" he asked. 

Alexis sat down. "I heard you've left the prison." 

"Yes, I've," he said. "Have you taken care of your mom's funeral?" 

Alexis nodded. She was fidgeting with her hands. "I'm sorry for what my brother did. I am sure you must have known he was the one that put you in prison," she looked down. 

"Why are you apologizing?" he asked. "I don't think you should apologize for his actions." 

Alexis shook her head and looked up at him as tears formed. "I knew about it but didn't say anything." 

Javier looked at her. "Alexis, I know that you feel indebted to me because of what happened years ago," he sighed as he leaned forward. "I'll be honest with you, I never planned on saving you. Someone else was kidnapped at the same place; she wanted me to save you. That was why I did. I don't care about your life; neither does your brother." 

Tears fell from Alexis's eyes.
