After checking his status, Chris was happy. He gained a lot from this dungeon. He reached Level 26 directly, which is not easy to accomplish outside. The EXP one gains from killing a monster inside a dungeon is way more when compared to what one could gain from killing outside monsters.
It was the reason why he was able to reach Level 26. If he hunted outside, he would have reached a maximum of Level 22 or 23 if he was lucky, which he was.
The issue with the dungeons was that there would be a refresh time. Only one team can enter a dungeon at a time for a single mode. Once they were done with the dungeon, others couldn't enter the dungeon for a time.
For example, if a team enters a dungeon in normal mode, others have to wait until this team exits the dungeon if they want to enter the dungeon in normal mode. Others can enter in a different dungeon mode.
The team would exit the dungeon either by clearing or by dying inside. Only then others could enter.
For the next team to enter, there would be a refresh time which needs to be fulfilled before anyone else could enter. The refresh rate depends on how many monsters the previous team cleared and which mode they selected. The highest refresh rate would be for a Perfect Dungeon Clearance in Nightmare Mode.
This was because although the monster species would be the same in all modes, the levels would vary. The levels wouldn't vary as much as one would think but even a single-level difference would cause a lot of trouble for the players as they have to face a lot of monsters that are a level higher than usual.
This would easily kill their stamina and mana reserves. They would lose a lot more health while fighting and it would be problematic for them. In the beginning, the differences would be small but as they reach higher level dungeons, they would see that the difference in levels was not by a single digit but would reach double digits.
This would cause a lot of problems for players as they level. They wouldn't be able to clear dungeons as easily as they did in the beginning.
Anyway, this has nothing to do with Chris. With his attributes and skills, he can sweep them easily and it was something for his future self.
He was more than just satisfied when he saw his new status. His level has reached 26, leaving only 4 short of reaching level 30, which he was sure to reach in the next few days. His improvement is much faster than what he was used to in his past life.
He has 220 FAPs now, which can be used to give a boost to the attribute he needed when the need arises. He decided to keep them aside for now, only to use them in case of emergencies or when he reached higher levels.
His attributes are already at the peak and far more when compared to beings at his level. What he needs now is not a crushing victory but practice. He needs to practice his skills or they will become redundant and useless in the long run.
The universe is vast and anything is possible. There may come a day when he could meet someone who could restrict his attributes and he had to depend solely on his skills or vice versa. He already had an extra life, and was sure that there wouldn't be another even though he was much luckier than he was in his past life.
There was one other thing that made him smile when he saw his status. This was a surprise for him. His Runecrafting levelled up, which he didn't think would happen.
"Sure, reading and researching the dungeon is a better way to understand the runes and improve the level", Chris muttered to himself, "Now let's return to the city and submit the quest before retiring for the day".
After that, he exited the dungeon and went straight to the city's adventurer's guild.
---
"Wait, you completed it?" the receptionist shouted out loud, which was out of her usual character.
Who can blame her for shouting when she saw that Chris was submitting his quest?
This was a quest that was left to collect dust for a long time. This quest involved a dungeon that was deemed almost impossible to clear because of its conditions and lack of any adventurers who had fire abilities.
No one would come to a frozen northern kingdom just to complete one small quest from the south. Sure one could obtain the rights to the dungeon by clearing it but the chances of clearing the dungeon are small.
You see, to gain the rights to a dungeon, it should be cleared perfectly which means the hidden boss should be killed before killing the dungeon boss. If they fail to do so, they would have to exit the dungeon without perfectly clearing the dungeon.
They would get the quest rewards but it wouldn't be worth coming all the way from warmer kingdoms to do so.
One can say that they could enter again to clear it but that is not possible. To clear a dungeon in Nightmare mode, they had to be at the uppermost border level to do so. So when they exit, their levels would have crossed the border level and they would have lost their chances.
This happened many times with dungeons like this. So only locals would try to clear them and if not cleared, they would remain so for a long time.
Now Chris stood here, showing proof that he cleared the dungeon, but refrained from saying that he got his hands on the hidden boss.
"So did you find the hidden boss?"
Chris made a sad face, "Unfortunately no. I somehow missed it while searching for it and ended up in the boss room. You should know what happened".
The girl nodded in understanding, "Let me process the quest submission".
[You have successfully submitted the quest, Obtain the heart of Ouzel.]
[You have gained EXP...]
[You have gained +100 gold.]
[You have gained a +50 reputation.]
[You have gained +1% favorability with citizens of the Frost City.]
Chris smiled when he saw the notifications. He got a lot more than he thought. In addition to the usual rewards for the quest completion, he also got an increase in reputation and favorability with all the citizens of the city. Though the favorability increased by just +1%, it was more than enough for now.
He then unloaded the unnecessary materials he got from the dungeon, except for the hidden boss materials. He said that he didn't get the hidden boss and it would be quite awkward to show it here. He would sell it later in a different place.
Once the sale was done, he returned to his room at the Inn and logged out.
