Still Foolish

- VANESSA -

The night comes, and Dominik leaves, and I am left in this bedroom with nothing to do but stare at the four walls and the tray of cookies that the Bratva monster ordered to have brought to my room. How strange is that? Milk and cookies—as if I am a child that Matvey has decided to host in his giant mansion. It's ominously reminiscent of some kind of dark fairytale.

Regardless of what Dom says about Matvey not wanting to poison me, I'm not eating them. Even if I liked cookies, I wouldn't eat them.

It's such a strange gesture after everything Matvey just said to me during dinner. I sincerely doubt this is an apology or that he is capable of feeling any kind of remorse at all. If he were, it wouldn't be for what he said to me. It wouldn't be over the fact that he was unnecessarily cruel to the woman carrying his grandchild.

Does Matvey recognize me? Why is his shadow familiar?
