Gene was a young man who grew up on the streets of a large city. 

Since he had no family or relatives he could rely on, he had to survive by stealing, begging, and fighting. He learned to be tough, cunning, and ruthless at such a young age. 

He was simply trying to survive every day and could only dream of a bright future from time to time.

One day, he was caught stealing from a noble's carriage. 

He expected to be executed or thrown into prison. It was something that had happened to his fellow beggars who dared to steal from noble families.

But to his surprise, the noble offered him a deal. He said he was looking for recruits for his army, and he saw potential in Gene. 

The noble said he would spare his life and give him a chance to become a knight if he agreed to serve him loyally and faithfully.

Well, Gene had no choice but to accept. He was taken to a training camp, where he was taught how to fight, ride, and obey.
