Taking Control of China

The battle had started on the ground, bullets and railgun shots blasting through the Urban centre of this city. Explosions rocked the entirety of the battlefield on numerous occasions as fire support from the Vindicator Fleet rained down on enemy positions. Tanks rolled past troops of the Veritas Imperium only to be annihilated by rail-gun fire moments later. Helicopter were shot out of the sky as fighter cut through the sky in moments only to disappear seconds later.

I have been watching the battle for some time now and had planned to push the Chinese forces back towards a single location but cutting off every other exit or plan of escape. It was working as well, the forces of the Chinese army were backing off, frustratingly slowly, but backing off none the less.

Another salvo of supersonic slugs rained down onto the Chinese forces and sundered them. Tanks exploded from the resulting hits and the troops were now driven into complete retreat.

"Follow them, tell ground troops to follow as well, leave medical personnel here to set up a backline trauma ward."

"Ai Captain!"

We followed after the Chinese troops and watched as the retreating forces of several divisions all ran towards their Homebase, somewhere in the northern mountains. It took half an hour but eventually they all gathered in the base up in the mountains.

"This is captain Aurelie ordering all ships to shoot railguns at target coordinates, 40x the speed of sound."

"""Yes Admiral!""" The other ships' captains responded and started to convey the orders as the comm link cut off.

It didn't take long until the ships were all ready and awaiting my orders. Just as I was about to give the order to fire I got a small burst of comms from a ground unit.

"Hold fire for now, wait a minute."

The other captains followed my order as I tracked down what the comms was about. Luckily i did it quickly as what it showed was small video recording of the Chinese soldiers taking hostages of the local populous. They were taking them so that we couldn't act. They thought us weak willed and incapable of killing civilians.

"Connect me to Supreme Commander Kali."

"Yes Mam!"

 ...

"Kali, the Chinese forces are using Hostages against us. Do you have any orders or advisements for us?"

"How many civilians?"

"Estimation? Over 9000."

"How many Chinese forces?"

" 100,000 to 200,000."

"Broadcast a request for their surrender, if they do not take it, destroy them all."

"Is that not a war crime?"

"Yes, but a needed one... What would occur to those civilians amongst a bunch of soldiers for an extended period of time, let alone the problems of having an enemy force still active within the country?"

"I understand."

After talking with mother Kali I got back to my job and asked the crew to blare out a surrender request. This request was billowed out of the four ships and even the ground forces suits.

Some of the Chinese forces took the surrender and dropped their arms, not wanting to face our forces again. Others persisted. Over the course of an hour half of the enemies' army had surrendered and been beamed to temporary holding buildings in Beijing that had been set up by me when we first got here.

"All forces are to engage with enemy, beam operators be ready to pick up distinct signals."

Like a lit match hitting oil the flames of war were ignited, soldiers making charges against entrenched enemy positions as their armour protected them from most of the bullets. Rail guns reciprocated as jets did strafing runs on exposed trench positions and defences.

The troops began to mark civilians slowly, whenever they met them. This was a method I had come up with after speaking with Kali, this way we could at least say we tried. I gave them a limit of half an hour from when the fighting started, then we would decimate the encampment, civilians or not. It was a good idea apparently as our soldiers were absolutely steam rolling the entire enemy force, saving civilians, kicking ass and dispensing what mother would call 'liberty'.

The fighters were instrumental in this despite the heavy AA fire, they were constantly destroying tanks or providing close air support. Even the Army were loving the Airforce at this moment, which was hilarious as they had a friendly rivalry and usually took shots at each other's methods.

It was nearing the thirty minute mark and I found that our forces had captured the hill and fortress, killing every enemy soldier and rescuing 70% of the civilians... Something remarkable and unheard of within modern military battles. I believe we had all underestimated the potency of the suits the Army were given... Mother always exceeds herself.

In the next few days I would spend my time re-establishing a government with the help of the Taiwanese and ultimately providing aid it the chinese people. As well as reporting back to Kali and providing reports to mother and ultimately Mother Pixel.
