Hunting Down Extremes Patients(chapter 28)

prevously in chapter 27

He checked, so that was the main reason Terry survived, although terry believes that Henry was afraid of him but nonetheless, Terry was not amused with Henry. Since he was born, the damn turtle could sense Henry's personality and character and seemed to treat him worse by the day, and Henry made sure to treat Terry the same, the proud owner of the alchemy system was fighting with a turtle. After checking all of his plants, Henry decided to focus more on one of the things on his to-do list. Thanks to the essence extraction skill, Henry could now make a lot of bombs, one of the bombs being a bomb made from actual liquid sunlight. Yes, liquid sunlight, which sounded crazy but to Henry it was doable, and it had a lot of uses.

[ Name: Sunburst Bomb ]

[ Grade: 4th ]

[ Description: A volatile mixture of Liquid Sunlight and powdered magnesium. When detonated, it creates an intense burst of light and heat, blinding and burning everything in a wide radius. ]

[ Effects: +100% light burst intensity, +100% burn damage, +100% range, +100% blinding effect ]

Chapter 28

"I should be able to make a bomb using essence extracted from liquid nitrogen and ice or something cold to create an ice bomb that can hopefully freeze an Extremis user before I can extract their Extremis from their blood." The reason why he was making the specialized syringes was because he found one of Aldrich Killian's patients hiding, not well of course since one of Henry's recon ants picked him up. He initially planned to go up against the target using potions and poisons to subdue him, but since he unlocked this essence extraction skill, his whole plan and countless other plans and ideas he had have been altered, in a good way actually, and some even got sped up. The main limitation for Henry to gain actual superpowers and not temporary ones was his potion synthesis skill and his alchemical weapon skill.

These two skills were his primary methods of production, whether it's potions or items, but since the failure chance was high and the chance of him making 5th or higher-tiered potions was low, it meant that using his high-tiered materials would be wasted, and they were finite. But since he got the essence extraction skill, his potion tier has broken through from 3rd tier to 4th tier. In fact, he can make 4th tier potions often, which is mainly due to the fact he had so many 5th-grade materials thanks to the essence extraction skill. So unless his two skills were high, he won't be using them, so he needs to be saving these materials, the high-level ones.

"Hmm," he hummed as he mixed several deadly materials without any hint of fear. In fact, he was surrounded by several natural phenomena caged and turned into liquid. "There is something about turning natural actual fucking phenomena into liquid that is intoxicating." It was safe to say that Henry was drunk on power from having the ability to affect natural phenomena. Who knows if he would let the power get to his head, but for now, he was busy creating bombs.

-Scene change-

The street was dark and silent, the occasional flicker of lightning in the distant sky casting brief, ghostly shadows on the deserted buildings. A lone dryer, discarded and rusting, stood as a testament to the area's desolation. Amidst this gloom, a man walked with a casual yet determined gait. He was a veteran, a soldier who had lost a limb in the war. Aldrich Killian had recruited him, promising a second chance. The man had been injected with Extremis, and he had survived. Now, with the power of Extremis coursing through his veins, he moved with an effortless confidence, but he was in hiding for reason as the government is hunting them.

He looked around casually, his eyes scanning the empty street as he walked. The man was lost in thought, contemplating the changes in his life since the injection. The Extremis had not only restored his lost limb but had also given him enhanced strength and regenerative abilities. As he walked, the sounds of the night—the distant hum of traffic, the rustling of leaves—filled his ears. But then, he heard something else. A faint rustle, a barely perceptible movement, coming from the shadows behind him.

Henry watched from the darkness, clad in his usual plague doctor's costume. The beaked mask and long, dark coat rendered him almost invisible against the night. He had been tracking this man for days, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Now, as the veteran walked down the deserted street, Henry knew the time had come.

Henry had prepared meticulously for this encounter. He had already drunk a Strength Tonic, feeling the rush of power as his muscles strengthened and his endurance increased. His bones felt like steel, his blood pumped with newfound vigor. The Flameheart Brew had made his blood run hot, after he consumed the prepared potions, He was ready.

With silent precision, Henry moved. His steps were soundless, his movements fluid. He closed the distance between himself and the Extremis-enhanced veteran swiftly. The veteran turned abruptly, his eyes widening as he caught sight of the plague doctor emerging from the shadows. But before he could react, Henry struck. A small, spherical object flew from Henry's hand—a Frostbite Bomb.

[ Name: Frostbite Bomb ]

[ Grade: 4th ]

[ Description: A combination of Frost Quartz Crystal essence and liquid nitrogen. It freezes everything within its blast radius solid. ]

[ Effects: +100% freezing effect, +100% range, +100% ice damage, +100% cold resistance penetration ]

The bomb exploded with a hiss, releasing a cloud of freezing mist that enveloped the veteran. The cold was instantaneous and intense, freezing the air around them. The veteran's body reacted, the Extremis in his system fighting against the cold. His skin glowed with the heat of his internal temperature rising, attempting to counter the freezing effect. But the Frostbite Bomb was potent, its effects amplified by Henry's precise alchemical concoction.

Henry moved in, his body a blur of motion. He reached into his coat and pulled out the specialized syringes he had prepared. As the veteran struggled against the encroaching cold, Henry struck with one of the syringes, plunging it into the veteran's neck. The syringe pierced the skin, the needle extracting the volatile Extremis rich blood in his bloodstream.

The veteran roared in pain and fury, his body beginning to thaw as his internal heat fought back against the freezing bomb. He swung a fist at Henry, the enhanced strength behind it capable of shattering bones. But Henry was ready. He ducked under the blow, his movements enhanced by the Strength Tonic. He retaliated with a swift kick to the veteran's knee, causing him to stagger.

Henry then delivered a series of blows, each one aimed at disabling the veteran's movements. Another syringe found its mark, drawing more Extremis from the man's body. With a final, desperate effort, the veteran's body began to glow with a fiery intensity, his last attempt to use the Extremis to his advantage. But Henry, fueled by the Flameheart Brew, was immune to the heat, somewhar. He moved in close, his own body radiating heat from the potion. He grabbed the veteran by the throat, forcing the last syringe into his arm.
