Chapter 134: Cooling Down

After Chi Sheng left, Nanzhi looked up at the sky.

She wasn't sure why, but she had a nagging feeling that something was amiss.

"It's getting late. Let's continue our journey tomorrow morning," said their mother. She directed her sons to park the mule carts. Only when all the carts had gathered together did she nod in satisfaction.

"Everyone should sleep inside the carts tonight and avoid spreading mats on the ground, lest it hails again."

At night, Nanzhi lay in bed with Shen Zhiyu in her arms, but no matter what, she couldn't fall asleep.

"Mother, can't you sleep?" The little one huddled in Nanzhi's embrace, looking up at her and speaking softly.

"Zhiyu, do you miss your father?" Nanzhi fanned Zhiyu with a fan, her voice husky.

"Yes." The little boy's voice was muffled. He only uttered the word 'yes' before slowly drifting to sleep.
