Main Event!

"Don't worry Sir Kaen, just wait a little, you'll be fighting in the main event!" The count said with a smile.

Kaen nodded with a forced smile while a storm of emotions was taking place inside him.

Main Event?

Shouldn't you ask me beforehand or atleast inform me!

This count, is he cracked in the head?

Soon, the weakest ranker left the ring after successfully defending his lowest rank.

The host of the event ascended the ring and announced: "Esteemed guests, this is the time for the main event of the night! This duel was decided by the two counts who have organized this event. They both have chosen a fighter of their own representing their county's honor and dignity! The winner of this duel will be able to win honor and a reward of ten thousand gold!!"

"What? Ten Thousand gold coins?" Kaen was the one who was surprised the most, however, multiple murmurs of awe and shock showed just how large this amount was.

With that large amount of gold coins, I'll not have to work for the rest of my life!

I can even employ a small knighthood with that much money!

It seems this count is not a fool after all...

The count turned to Kaen and said: "Go Sir Kaen, this is the moment to bag glory for yourself!"

Kaen nodded as he left his seat for the arena.

Kaen and Velar entered the ring. Upon witnessing Kaen's entrance, everyone present gasped.

"How can Count Nadino be so cruel as to send a youngster to his death like this?" a noble lady exclaimed, her disgust for Count Nadino evident on her face.

"Yes, the least he could do is demonstrate that he is serious about winning. I can't watch this," another noble muttered.

While everyone was busy expressing pity for the youngster, Demios was having the time of his life.

"Oh, Kaen! You pitiful child! ...pfft hahaha," Demios laughed, sarcasm evident in his voice. "See how everyone is giving you this look of sympathy. They don't even know that this is an easy match for you."

"Shut up; the match is about to start," Kaen murmured.

While Kaen was engaged with Demios, Velar's voice resonated in his ears. "Hey, kid! Just forfeit the match; I don't want to hurt you."

"What? Why should I forfeit? If you don't want to hurt me, just forfeit and leave the ring," Kaen retorted.

"Oh, so you don't want to receive my kindness? Alright then, I shall not show you any mercy in this match," Velar announced, moving to his position and drawing a long sword from the scabbard.

Kaen also assumed his fighting stance, tightening his grip on the sword he had received from Count Nadino for this fight.

A fireball was launched into the air, marking the start of the match.

The moment the fireball burst into sparks, signaling the commencement of the match, Velar lunged forward with astonishing speed. His sword gleamed menacingly as he aimed a swift strike at Kaen, testing the young fighter's reflexes.

Upon witnessing the attack aimed at him, a terrified expression appeared on Kaen's face before he rolled sideways to narrowly evade the strike. He stumbled briefly but quickly regained his balance.

Kaen didn't want to expose his true strength in front of everyone and hence decided to act like a kid with a weak foundation.

Velar once again charged towards him, but this time with his sword enveloped in aura.

In response, Kaen waited for the right moment to dodge, A weak aura was enveloping his sword similar to a level of 2-star. Just as he was about to get cut, he dodged feigning an act of difficulty.

With the fighting experience from his past life, he could easily follow Velar's attack and dodge them.

"What's going on? Why is Sir Kaen fighting like this? Where is the warrior that killed that troll in one swift attack?" Count Nadino murmured, confused as well as worried.

Velar pressed on as he turned and charged to strike Kaen again, However, just as his sword was about to connect, Kaen fell by stumbling his legs, ultimately dodging Velar's attack by mistake.

His sword's hilt touched the ground which in result made the the tip of the sword pierce Velar's leg. Blood started flowing out of Velar's leg as he swiftly made distance from Kaen in response.

"W-what just happened? What type of dog-shit luck does he have?" Velar blurted out at the unexpected turn of events.

"Thank God! Looks like my prayer worked. That Velar Jon is quite ruthless to attack a youngster with his aura!" The noble lady who was concerned for Kaen exclaimed.

"Yeah, It was quite a miracle just now. Otherwise, he could've died from that attack" muttered a noble sitting beside the lady.

Everyone present shared similar thoughts on the situation, except for Velar and Count Philip.

"What is that Velar doing, getting injured by a young kid?" Count Philip murmured, gritting his teeth.

While everyone was busy expressing their reactions, Velar continued with a flurry of attack all aimed at finishing the duel in one hit. However, Kaen clumsily dodged every strike and sometimes accidentally hit Velar.

Now with his leg injured, Velar's agility was degrading and he was unable to land a clear hit. He had an advantage with his 5-star aura but that was also useless as Kaen never let their swords clash. It was like he knew that it would be disadvantageous for him. In the least, he would parry his attacks by slightly sliding his sword to the side.

Kaen continued dodging by a hair's breadth, visibly struggling. It appeared as though a child was fighting against a master but was saved by his tough luck every time. In everyone's eyes, Velar seemed to be toying with the child, allowing him to dodge before ending the battle.

"Why is that Velar playing around when I explicitly told him to finish this quickly? Does he take me for a fool?" Count Philip murmured in anger.
