I awoke to a gentle tap on my shoulder.
As I watched Nurse Joy pull up a seat she spoke "Leaving you alone must've been quite disorienting"
"No, it's alright I understand I'm probably not the only patient you have to attend to."
"So while I don't mean to pry too deeply it's important for me to understand how exactly you ended up scarred from head to toe with severe bruising and internal bleeding." She said maintaining a comforting smile while Blissey inspected me for any lasting injury.
I schooled my expression as I narrated the events leading to my awakening in her poke center. I decided to remain relatively honest recounting my sudden arrival in a new dimension only skewing the details regarding my origin. No doubt saying I was from a place with no Pokemon would incur immediate suspicion. Instead, I opted for being from a small unnamed village while still incredibly skeptical not quite enough to warrant a physic rummaging through my head I hoped.
Where did I even get the notion that psychics could rummage through human heads actually if they're capable of mentally shooting beams of pure psionic energy and hypnotizing people perusing memories shouldn't be too far off.
Nurse Joy stroked Blissey's head thoughtfully in contemplation before speaking, "Alright while what you're saying is a little bit farfetched but for your sake let's say I believe it Mr…?"
"Gale. Mr. Gale"
Maybe a bit lackluster but in a world of reds, blues, and greens I don't think it's too out of place.
"Gale as much as I would like to just chalk up your dimensional travel to the intricacies of being in a world of Pokemon capable of extraordinary things," She said.
Yeah, I fucked up.
"Recent events regarding Team Galatic make incidents like these more important to the league, but I'm willing to allow this to pass if you could phone a family member or someone from your town to confirm your claim?"
Unless Nurse Joy had a device capable of calling across dimensions phoning family seemed quite impossible. Not like I particularly wanted to talk to them anyway.
New plan: Get the hell out of here while she's busy taking care of someone else.
Mentally resigning myself I responded, " I'm not sure they would be able to answer"
"My hands are tied Gale you have no I.D., no relatives, and dropped out of a random dimension. No matter how I put it I'm obligated as a member of the Joy clan to report this to the league. Blissey, stay with Gale to ensure he makes a full recovery." I watched her as she walked out; her Blissey once again shut the door before it plopped down at the foot of my bed.
She thinks I'm crazy why didn't I plead amnesia or something anything could've been so much better.
I scratched my head before asking, "Say Blissey what town are we in."
Blissey stood up before pointing towards a drawer next to me. I watched as it glowed and slid open.
Inside there was a newspaper titled "Latest News In Majolica Town".
"Thank you."
Blissey nodded before she returned to her original position.
Majolica town if I remember correctly there's not a gym leader so there's no need to worry about an excess amount of trainers questioning why a random man is booking it to the wilds. On second thought the wilderness seems like an excellent way to die.
Where could I go besides the wilderness? I chewed my bottom lip in contemplation.
Trying to live on route seems dumb as any trainer could easily stumble on me. So while I'll be relatively safe from Pokemon as they'll all hopefully be domesticated the trainers could easily pose a problem. Going to the wilderness presents the problem in reverse.
Slowly I formed a shoddy plan.
I turned towards Blissey, "Do you mind if I use the bathroom?"
Unsure of how Blissey would respond I watched as it tilted its head before nodding. As the door opened Blissey beckoned for me to follow.
After a while of traversing a hallway Blissey pointed towards a door next to a small box reading 'Lost and Found'.
Swiftly I speed-walked towards the door before I decided to first acquire some new wardrobe. I dug through the box ignoring Blissey's judgemental stare burning into my back. I secured a grey tee with a black and white Pokeball logo and olive green khakis then stepped into the bathroom to change.
I dug my hands into my pockets a nervous habit of mine feeling a distinct round object with a button, my eyes widened and a smile broke out on my face. Despite my less-than-optimal decision-making, it seems as though I caught a lucky break. Exiting the bathroom I heard a loud cry.
Blissey gave me a warning look before going to investigate the disturbance. Despite the clear message I followed determined to escape.
In the lobby, a trainer came in with tears trailing down their face screaming carrying a small red-coated creature. In their arms, a Buizel with 2 large gashes one across an eye and the other trailed down their chest leaving a small trail of blood across the center. Blissey sprung into action a pink aura begging to surround the Pokemon slowly closing up the wounds. It wasn't long until Nurse Joy also came rushing from somewhere within the center to help.
I watched in disbelief as Nurse Joy yelled at the trainer before she grabbed the Pokeball from the trainer's belt and balled the Buizel.
With Nurse Joy and Blissey preoccupied likely having forgotten me, I exited through a side door.
That was remarkably simple, time for step 2.
As I walked I kept my head down before I bumped into someone particularly hard. Watching some of the contents of their bag scatter I helped them out discreetly pocketing 2 more Poke balls their miniaturized form assisting me.
I turned to leave before I felt a hand grip my shoulder, "You know I saw that right?"
"Saw what"
I heard a chuckle, "The two poke balls you just pocketed it's alright though I'd never refuse to help a fellow trainer you know."
I turned toward the person properly looking at her. She carried 6 Pokeballs on his belt and had purple hair with matching eyes.
She continued, "You know normally with the way this bag works it's impossible for the contents to accidentally fall out."
"What do you want?" This conversation was taking far too long with each word he spoke my chances of getting away steadily declined.
As if timed perfectly with my thoughts Nurse Joy busted through the poke center entrance
She chuckled once more, "I don't suppose she's looking for you." Her eyes shined playfully.
I attempted to move past before she tightened her grip on my shoulder.
"I don't want to turn you in just a little curious is all what's your name?"
Feeling increasingly distressed and annoyed I replied, "Gale now move."
Pushing her off she no longer attempted to hold onto me only sliding her hand off my shoulder before continuing to stroll.
What the hell?
I pushed all questions to the back of my mind before continuing to the wilderness determined to catch my first Pokemon.
I changed the tense from present to past experimenting a bit. And Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I've redid this chap 3 times and I wanna change it again.
