Curiosity

As time passed and Jin continued exploring, finding numerous berries, mushrooms, and some apricorn though he's not quite sure what he could have used them for.

Through his exploration Jin noticed that there were different sizes between the wild Pokémon icon on his map.

Jin's only conclusion is the strength of the Pokémon influences how big their icon is.

So Jin seeing a small icon alone on the map, he couldn't help but feel curious.

So Jin approached.

There was a small opening in the forest as daylight hit a lone tree in the middle of the opening.

Surrounding the tree were bushes.

On the map it showed that a Pokémon should be near the tree in the middle of the opening.

While maintaining his distance Jin looked for the Pokémon in the tree

But seeing no Pokémon on the branches of the tree even after checking different angles Jin concluded the Pokémon must be in the bushes.

However no matter how curious Jin is he wouldn't approach the bushes rashly who knows if the Pokémon is a poison type or if his conjecture about the Pokémon icon was wrong.

So Jin did the best option he had and that was to throw a berry just in front of the bushes.

Eventually the bushes rustled as a Pokémon hopped towards the berry.

Jin was stunned why would a Pidgey be inside a bush, and why was it so small?

However, taking a closer look at the Pidgey Jin saw that one of Pidgey's wings was bent.

As the Pidgey was eating the Oran berry he threw, Jin gambled and made himself known to the Pidgey.

Pidgey, taking notice of the human coming out of the bushes, quickly cawed, raising its good wing to appear intimidating to the human in front of it.

Jin quickly raised his hands to show he showed no harm and instead revealed an Oran berry shaking it up and down as Pidgey's head moved in the same direction of the berry.

Seeing Pidgey no longer paying attention to himself, he quickly tossed the berry in front of it.

Seeing the berry land in front of it Pidgey glanced at the human nearby but looking back to the berry, then looked back at the human and once again to the berry.

It repeated this action until it's grumbling stomach told it to eat as it hasn't had enough to make up for not eating in the last few days.

Jin cautiously approached Pidgey.

Just as he was right beside Pidgey, it raised its wing but before Pidgey could do anything Jin quickly placed his hand right in front of it showing two Oran berries.

Bribing the Pidgey to ignore his presence as he reached his hand to stroke Pidgey's back, when his hand touched Pidgey it shuddered before ignoring him and eating the berries.

Seeing that Pidgey showed no resistance Jin decided to activate his ability to see what he managed to snag.

'Less than a month huh? Must have been abandoned since it hurt its wing left to fend off on its own.

Other than that it seems the health is lowered due to its wings. But it's other stats seem relevant to age because I'm pretty sure Pidgey's base stats aren't this low.

As for the numbers on the right, that should be the cause of my second ability showing me the potential of Pidgey's stats.

Defense has the highest potential among all its stats; it must be due to its relaxed nature.

Since it's a newborn and it has a relaxed nature must be why it allowed me to go close to it without it running away..

'As for Pidgey's potential being Red, I'm not quite sure what it does. If I go based on reference to my past life then it is either how fast he trains or what his limits are, if not both.

I'll just assume it's both.'

Jin saw that despite finishing its berries the Pidgey didn't shy away or pushed him away just letting him do as he pleased.

"Pidgey, why don't you come with me? I'll give you food and treat you. In return you'll protect me when I come out in the wild. I won't abandon you and you won't abandon me. What do you say?"

Pidgey thought and looked at its situation, making its decision, "Pidgey!" as it hopped towards Jin.

Seeing Pidgey take the initiative to come towards him, he quickly took Pidgey into his arms as quickly headed back to the town gate.

It was mid afternoon so it would be better to return for now.

By the time he arrived at the gate three hours passed by and it was late.

The sun was reaching the last hour of sunlight.

Jin nervously thought, 'That was close, if I had gone a bit farther I would have been locked out.'

As Jin approached the gate the guardsmen quickly took notice of him.

The guardsmen gave him a look of surprise as they didn't expect the boy to come back alive.

Much less with a Pidgey, and the boy seems to have brought some stuff back as the ragged stitch made pouch on his side was filled with items unknown to them.

Bren quickly approached Jin, "Boy you made it back, who would have thought. Not me for Sure! I genuinely thought that you would have run into a Beedrill hive. Maybe an Ekans might have ambushed you."

Bren loudly said as he eyes Jin's Pidgey that fell asleep noting its small size, "It must have been recently born, count yourself lucky as it's easier to imprint yourself onto it." before sternly saying

"Though make sure it causes no trouble within the town, if not we'll have to put it down. Do you understand?"

"Understood sir!"

"Okay enter then,"
