“I can’t believe she was having an affair with my father’s lawyer,” she whispered. “What kind of person betrays their friend’s trust by sleeping with his wife while he is fighting for his life.”

Now, after he’d gotten her to settle down, Ziza sat opposite him on the bed. She wrapped her arms around her knees as she rocked herself back and forth. Her red eyes stared at sheets with a distant yet dejected look in her eyes.

“I trusted him. I hope dad didn’t find out, for his sake,” she sniffled. “at this foolish rate I cannot trust anyone anymore.”
