Once the charcoal was blazing hot, Nan Feng began to brush oil onto the wild boar. As the oil dripped into the fire, a sizzling sound rose from below. Then, Nan Feng started preparing the seasonings — cumin powder, pepper powder, soy sauce — and chose a small tree branch to use as a brush. She used it to evenly coat the boar's meat.
Everyone was curious about Nan Feng's method. The locals also sometimes roasted their food, but they didn't use this many seasonings, usually just sprinkling a bit of salt before eating. Yet, the aroma from Nan Feng's method was so enticing that it could probably be smelled from the fields.
Then, Nan Feng remembered that there was some honey in the kitchen. She went and brought it out, likewise drizzling it over the boar's meat.
Nan Quanyou asked Nan Feng, "Fengfeng, won't your way make the food both salty and sweet, and therefore unpalatable?"
