[Interior of an elegant restaurant]
Regina and Axel were seated at a well-decorated table in the intimate corner of the restaurant, with candles illuminating the atmosphere and creating a cozy ambiance. Both looked impeccable in their elegant attire.
"This place is lovely. You have good tastes." Regina said with a flirtatious tone in her voice.
"I certainly have good tastes" Axel replied as he looked at her suggestively. Regina laughed a little at the blunt statement.
The waiter arrived with a bottle of wine and poured them a glass, leaving room for small talk between the two.
"How are you feeling, Regina? It's been a few days since we survived that Dino crisis." Axel asked as he took a swig from his wine glass.
"Dino crisis? That's a good name to call the situation we live in. I'm fine, I've been given a few days off. And you, Axel? How did you manage to survive? At that moment it was very believable that you had died" Regina answered as she folded her arms with a cold look on her face.
Chuckling Axel put the glass of wine to his mouth with the intention of not wanting to answer, after a few moments he decided to reply "Oh dear, that's a secret, a magician never reveals his tricks Don't you think so?"
A short pause full of meaning sneaks in between his words. Both of them with a taciturn look decided to order dinner.
After a few minutes they both finished their dinner and decided to continue their conversation.
"What's your next step Axel, do you have any plans?" asked Regina curiously while wiping her mouth with a napkin.
Axel evasively answered her "My plans have always been a mystery, haven't they? But, I guess I'll always be there when you need me. I'll always be there when you need me, Regina."
At that moment the waitress approached, interrupting the moment.
"Would you like anything else?"
"No, thank you. I think it's time for us to leave." Rising from her chair, Regina smiled and waited for Axel to get up.
"Yes, it was a good dinner" Getting up, Axel offers his arm to Regina.
"Heh, what a gentleman."
Axel and Regina spent some time together walking through the park that was near one of the secret entrances to the facility, both enjoying each other's company, both knowing that after tonight it would be a long time before they would see each other again.
"I guess it's time for me to go back" Regina spoke with a reluctance, she didn't want to leave his side, being with him gave her a feeling she had never felt before, she always focused on her training, she didn't care about romance.
She knew that being in a relationship with him was a very bad idea, he was a spy for hire, he would work for whoever gave him good pay and she was a special agent for the government, their relationship was destined to fail if they both continued in their respective jobs.
With a "Fuck it all" comment, Regina turned around, ready to leave, but something inside her stopped her in her tracks. A sudden, emotional impulse took hold of her. With sudden determination, she changed direction and, in an act of bravery, pounced on Axel.
The kiss was sudden but full of emotion. Axel, initially surprised by Regina's spontaneous action, let himself be carried away by the moment. The intensity of the kiss gradually increased, both immersed in the sensation of the moment, letting their emotions flow freely.
The world seemed to fade around them as they immersed themselves in the passionate embrace. Each instant was a whisper of emotions building up, an encounter charged with repressed feelings and deep longings.
Time seemed to stand still as they kissed, each shared moment filled with a mixture of vulnerability and connection. They felt completely absorbed in the intensity of the moment, unconcerned about what the future might hold.
After a time that seemed fleeting but eternal to them, they slowly pulled apart, their breaths coming in ragged gasps.
"Why don't you apply to get into S.O.R.T.? I can help you get in" Regina spoke with a warm tone as she gave him a look that held many emotions.
"I'm sorry dear, but you better than anyone know that I can't do that, as long as we keep working on opposite sides we will have to go our separate ways" While taking a lock of her hair Axel answered her.
She didn't show any change in her mood since she already knew the answer she would be given "In that case don't expect mercy from me if we meet again in a mission that involves our jobs."
With that last comment Regina turned around and left.
They both knew that this was goodbye, aware that their paths may cross again in circumstances that only fate will decide.
With a meaningful look Axel proceeds to leave, leaving the future open and full of uncertainty for both of them.
.......
[Axel POV]
As I was returning to the hotel where I was staying, I enjoyed the warm breeze that this beautiful night brought me, thinking about the relationship I had with Regina; a wry smile covered my face.
She couldn't help but compare the situation in which we met and the professions we both had.
She was a government agent, and I, a spy in the pay of the highest bidder. "Isn't this the same relationship Ada Wong and Leon S. Kennedy carry on?" shaking my head wryly.
"The only difference is that we're dealing with dinosaurs." Letting out a chuckle, I continue on my way.
It was time to get in touch with someone who could give me a place to thoroughly study the third energy and prepare for the events of Dino Crisis 2.
.......
[Edward City]
The Edward City laboratory was buzzing with scientific activity. The team of renowned scientists, led by the head of the technology department, whose name was Dr. Michelle, was immersed in their research on the third energy.
The ambition to claim the discovery of an inexhaustible energy was driving their efforts.
While manipulating some computers, Dr. Michelle abruptly stood up, startling the other scientists. Turning to look at the others, she exclaimed:
"We have made significant progress in stabilizing the third energy! We are about to reach a milestone - proceed to activate the third energy reactor!"
One of the scientists frowned and, plucking up his courage, replied to the excited Dr.:
"Sir, I don't think it's right for us to rush this; you yourself saw in the data that we need to have more security and not ignore precautions in favor of speed."
"Hush, I'm sure everything will be fine, I'll get past Dr. Kirk with this! So don't tell me what to do, kid."
Not everyone was brave enough to disobey the orders of the head of the department, so, ignoring the warnings of that scientist, they proceeded to prepare the reactor.
As the team prepared, a series of unexpected and catastrophic events began to unfold. A fault in the power system caused an overload, generating an unforeseen chain reaction in the third energy reactor.
"The reactor is overloaded! The system is failing!" shouted one of the scientists as he looked at the reactor monitor. Before they could react, an explosion of energy engulfed the experiment room. Flickering lights, deafening sounds and intense luminescence filled the lab.
The chaos lasted only a few moments, but when the light dissipated, the lab had completely changed. The city was in an unfamiliar and dangerous environment, surrounded by lush vegetation and prehistoric landscapes.
As the villagers and everyone in the city were bewildered, a warning over the speakers on the poles rang out.
"Dinosaurs! We're under attack! Take cover ahhhhggg!"
Hearing the announcer's piercing voice, everyone froze. More screams began to be heard as time passed.
Chaos had spread in the city, as a herd of velociraptors could be seen attacking and killing civilians as well as military personnel in these.
"Run! Go to the military base and take shelter!" shouted one of the military men as he fired at the infamous creatures.
As the scientists stood in the safety of the lab, they were dismayed by the chaotic scene unfolding in front of them. They watched in astonishment through the windows of the lab.
The image of the velociraptors storming the city generated a chill in each of the team members.
Dr. Michelle collapsed to the floor and, in a trembling voice, spoke, "This is...this is a nightmare!"
"Oh god my family is down there, I need to go get them!"
"This happened because we didn't follow safety measures!"
The voices of the scientists could be heard, some with complaints and others with fear, as they were trapped in an ancient and hostile world, surrounded by prehistoric creatures.
The city of Edward City was caught up in an event similar to the one on Ibis Island.
