Nine years ago, humankind almost perished the day monsters came out of the Cracks– aka dungeons– that appeared all over the world. When all hope seemed to be lost, a select few awakened as Hunters equipped with a System. Thanks to them, the civilization recovered faster than one would expect after the apocalypse. However, another conflict presented itself later: the more the Hunters used their powers, the quicker they lost their sanity. Fortunately, among the Awakened People, there is a group classified by the System as Guides– and only these Guides have the power to soothe the Hunters and bring them back to their senses. Sounds great, right? But what happens when a Civilian is in a relationship with a Hunter who has a high matching rate with their Guide? “Let’s break up, Wonhee.” Yep, this is what happens when your Hunter boyfriend has a 76% matching rate with his Guide. Wonhee was dumped by her long-time boyfriend because she’s just a Civilian… … or so she thought.
IN THE so-called 'New Age,' you are either an Awakened Person or a powerless Civilian.
The change started with a pandemic nine years ago.
People all over the world would suddenly get high fever and fall into a comatose state after a week– and it happened around the same time. But before the experts could even tell what was going on, it happened: Cracks appeared in every part of the world.
Those Cracks were actually dungeons that contained monsters.
The human race almost perished that day because no firearm worked on the monsters that came out of the Cracks– not even the police or the military could fight against them.
When all hope seemed to be lost, the patients who had fallen into a deep slumber woke up.
No– they awakened as Hunters equipped with a System that taught them how to use their powers.
The day the world was supposed to end suddenly became the day the First Generation of Hunters was born.
Thanks to them, the civilization recovered faster than one would expect after the apocalypse.
However, another conflict presented itself later: the world realized that the more the Hunters used their power, the quicker they lost their sanity and humanity.
They became violent and out of control.
Hence, the Hunters who were supposed to protect people from the Cracks eventually became a threat to society.
Fortunately, among the Awakened People, there is a group classified by the System as 'Guides.' They are non-combat type, but they have a very important skill granted to them– only the Guides have the power to soothe the Hunters and bring them back to their senses.
Plus, a Hunter x Guide pair with a high matching rate could also level up together.
But it's actually rare for a Hunter and a Guide to have a matching rate that exceeds 50%, so the pairs who exceed the 75% mark are given the choice to become intimate.
Sexually intimate, to be precise.
A Guide can, well, guide a Hunter better by having an intimate sexual relationship with them.
And that was how Hunters and Guides became inseparable in the new world.
Sounds great, right?
But what happens when a Civilian is in a relationship with a Hunter who has a high matching rate with their Guide?
"Let's break up, Wonhee."
Yep, this is what happens when your Hunter boyfriend has a 76% matching rate with his Guide.
Wonhee, who was about to light the candle on top of the strawberry cake that said 'Congratulations! <3,' stopped and looked up at her boyfriend sitting across from her. She stared Seodam's handsome face, wondering if she heard it right.< p>
I know this isn't the time to be distracted, but his face is glowing…
Lee Seodam was naturally handsome. But when he awakened as a B-Class Hunter a few years ago, his visual improved.
Yes, Awakened People had a "visual upgrade" granted to them by the System.
I see– Seodam Oppa's visual leveled up again when he became an A-Class Hunter.
"I thought you came here so we could celebrate you becoming an A-Class Hunter, Oppa," Wonhee said when she finally stopped herself from admiring Seodam's face. "Why are you suddenly breaking up with me?"
"Now that I've become an A-Class Hunter, I want to try to climb over the wall once again and become an S-Class Hunter this time," Seodam, her Hunter boyfriend, said in a serious tone. "And the fastest way to reach that level is to receive Advanced Treatment from Ruda– my Guide."
'Advanced Treatment' was the eloquent way for a Hunter to say that they would sleep with their Guide.
Yep, her boyfriend just informed her he wanted to start a sexual relationship with his Guide.
He's saying he wants to sleep with another person when we haven't slept together yet in our three-year relationship.
Haaah.
Wonhee smiled to hide her nervousness. "Oppa, did you develop romantic feelings for Ruda Oppa?"
Yes, Park Ruda– Seodam's Guide– was a male Guide.
And, unfortunately for Wonhee, Seodam and Ruda were a famous "love team" with many fans all over the world "shipping" the two together.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Welcome, new readers!
I just want to inform you that you might get a bit frustrated with Wonhee for being too kind (pushover) at first. Hehe. But please give her a chance (at least until Chapters 12-16). She'll have character development and you'll get a refreshing taste of cider soon~
[Getting refreshed by cider is a Korean slang that means getting rewarded after being frustrated.] :)

NOTE: The characters here use the format [Last Name] before [First/Given Name].
