Peaceful Morning

When morning came and Safiya's eyes fluttered open, he was still next to her, sleeping. His hand lay on top of her stomach, and his head rested on her shoulder, his breath gently caressing her skin. Safiya sighed, gently ruffling his hair.

Why was she even angry at him? It wasn't his fault; this was done by the demon, and she could sense that he was exhausted from the whole ordeal.

After she had given him the medicine last night, he had asked her to stay again. He told her he wouldn't leave and that he would try his best to remember every memory he had of her. That alone had convinced her to stay.

"Malik," she whispered, still cradling his head. "I love you." She placed a kiss on his hair. A small smile crept onto her face as his hand tightened around her, drawing her closer. Even in his sleep, he was possessive.

She remained there, listening to his slow breathing and feeling the morning sun slightly bathing them through the window.
