The next morning, Varys approached Aegon, who was enjoying his morning tea, a habit inherited from Bahamut. Noticing the concern on Varys's face, Aegon smiled and asked, "What's wrong, Varys?" Varys hesitated before responding, "Your Grace, I'm not sure if it's right or wrong." Aegon set down his cup and assured, "You don't have to worry about what you bring to me. In the end, I'm the one who decides."
Varys then disclosed, "My whispers speak that Princess Daenerys has tamed Sapphire." Aegon remained in thought for a moment before expressing, "Pop once said my aunt might inherit madness from her father. Maybe it's true; she is indeed hungry for power, as Pop mentioned." Varys, adept at fueling matters, added with hesitation, "Then the matter is worse." Aegon, with a smile, inquired, "How?"
Varys responded, "She possesses four dragons." Aegon, rising from his seat, remarked, "Power resides where men believe it resides. It's a trick. And she is falling for it." Varys, not fully understanding Aegon's words, asked, "Your Grace?" Unbeknownst to Varys, the concept of taming dragons didn't exist. As long as Bahamut returned, he could restrain the influence of Valyrian blood on Valyrian dragons—a lesson Aegon had learned from Bahamut. Without a strong bond with their dragons, they could be killed at any moment. That's what a dragon was.
Without delay, Aegon made his way to the Meagar Holdfast inneryard, where his dragons Igneel and Moon were kept. The dragons were placed closer to where Aegon stayed, sensing a change in Aegon's mood, Igneel got up. Aegon approached Igneel, who lowered his head in greeting. Aegon affectionately rubbed Igneel's head and asked him to lay down so that he could climb onto his back. Igneel obediently complied, and Aegon mounted him.
With a resounding roar, Igneel took to the sky, carrying Aegon towards Dragonstone.
Daenerys had anticipated a visit from Kings Landing, but she did not expect the young king to arrive in person. She was spending time with her younger dragon, accompanied by Sapphire, who had shown no hostility toward the other dragons. Drogon, in particular, seemed drawn to Sapphire.
Suddenly, another roar echoed through the air, prompting Daenerys and Sapphire to turn their attention in its direction. Igneel, Aegon's dragon, circled around Daenerys and Sapphire before landing a few steps away. Sapphire approached Igneel, displaying affection, as they hadn't seen each other in a long time. If not for Aegon intentionally keeping Igneel close, the two dragons might have already mated.
Daenerys attempted to put on a smile as she observed Aegon, who was looking at her expressionlessly.
Igneel slowly laid down, allowing Aegon to dismount gracefully. Aegon, in a calculated move, approached Daenerys with a measured stride, his expression unreadable. Daenerys, attempting to break the tension, greeted him with a small smile.
"Aegon, what brings you to Dragonstone?" she inquired, trying to sound casual despite the underlying unease.
Aegon replied casually, "Just curious to see how our dragons interact. And it's been a while since I came to Dragonstone."
Daenerys couldn't help but sense an undercurrent in Aegon's words. "Is there more to your visit than just the dragons?" she asked, her eyes searching for any clues in Aegon's demeanor.
Aegon hesitated for a moment before responding, "I've heard about Sapphire. It seems you've successfully tamed her."
Feeling a surge of pride, Daenerys nodded. "Yes, she recognized the Valyrian blood in me, and we formed a bond. She's an essential addition to our cause."
Aegon's expression remained unreadable, and Daenerys felt a need to explain. Then Aegon remarked, "Sapphire seems quite fond of your dragons."
Daenerys, her tone unwavering, said, "Dragons have their own instincts. They recognize those who pose no threat."
Aegon, choosing his words carefully, added, "It's a delicate balance. The more dragons one commands, the more complex the dynamics become."
Daenerys could already feel opposition from Aegon's side. Trying to maintain her composure, Aegon asked, "What are you seeking?"
Determined, she stated, "I seek to strengthen my position. In Westeros, power is crucial, and dragons symbolize strength."
Aegon, with a subtle hint of warning while pointing out what she is always will be, remarked, "But power can be a double-edged sword, Khaleesi. It can consume even the most noble intentions."
Without any delay, Aegon walked away towards Igneel to return to Kings Landing, leaving Daenerys pondering the implications of their conversation.
