A booming sound thundered in Konrad's ears the instant he touched his grandad's old German WW2 uniform.
[Konrad Schuster… I see your soul's excellence… I choose you to continue the legacy of the Third Reich in a world of swords and magic!]
This was the last thing Konrad heard before his body was enveloped by a white light and awoke in the middle of a forest.
Like this, Konrad Schuster, a slightly above average high school student, suddenly found himself in another world. While his eyes were blurry and his head was ringing, the first thing he felt was relief.
[Yes, it has finally happened! I'm really in another world! I did not read all those light novels in vain!]
He got on his knees, rubbing his eyes and trying to see clearly. He knew that he was very vulnerable in this new world. Who knew what dangers existed here?
He had often fantasised about what he would do if he were ever transported to the other world, so he knew that gathering information was his first priority.
[Is there really magic in this world like the voice said? What level of technology is there? Where exactly am I?]
As he tried to look around, an excruciating pain spread through his mind.
[Ahhh!... Hhnnn..]
Konrad desperately grit his teeth in pain, trying not to make a noise.
After about 5 minutes, the pain passed just as quickly and suddenly as it came.
[What was that?]
Konrad felt around his body, searching for any injuries.
Suddenly, he noticed that he has knowledge about source power in his mind, almost like he previously forgot about it and was only remembering it now.
[Is this my special power?]
[I can visualise how much source power I have... What?]
According to the knowledge, source power comes from the soul of a being. Konrad's brain now had the ability to absorb souls and convert them into source points.
[I can convert source points into anything I want! The price is based on its mass, material, and complexity]
[But if I can visualise the design and components, it will be cheaper since I won't have to consume additional source points to fill in for what I don't know]
[That means that I'll have to settle for objects that I know the blueprints of, rather than complex designs like radios or computers]
Luckily, Konrad was a history and gun fanatic, knowing a lot of knowledge about equipment and guns. He owned several guns and often went to the gun range. Although he could not be considered a sharpshooter, he could be considered proficient in guns, able to consistently hit a target 50 metres away with his beloved 1911 handgun.
[Let's see… I currently have 300 source points. It's nice of it to give me a starter pack]
First, Konrad visualised his phone and got a price of tens of thousands of source points.
[Ok… That won't work]
Next, Konrad visualised his engraved 1911 handgun. Due to him regularly cleaning and taking it apart, he knew every single component of the gun and how they worked in sync with each other. He quickly got a price: 30 source points.
[Hmm… It's worth it, I don't feel safe without it]
Once Konrad selected it, he opened his eyes to find his engraved handgun in his hands. The smooth and familiar feel instantly reassured him. He summoned a belt with a leather holster and 4 magazine pouches for 5 source points, then 5 magazines with a total of 50 bullets for another 5 points.
Konrad put on the equipment and smoothly loaded a magazine into his gun. He gently ran a finger against the side of the high-quality and heavy handgun, tracing its engravings.
[My .45acp rounds should do a lot of damage to whatever's in my way]
Curious to how much a person would cost, he visualised a human and got a price of how much it would cost; 100 source points]
[100 points for a human? That's ridiculously cheap! Humans are incredibly complex, not even the best scientists on Earth know every component of a human!]
[It's almost like they want me to make a gigantic army… Whatever, I'm not complaining]
Despite this, the source power hinted that the cost of humans would rise in the future.
Going with the theme of the Third Reich, Konrad copied the WW2 German military uniform for his army. He had always liked the handsome and menacing look of it. The uniform's cost ended up being 10 source points.
[If I'm going to establish an army in this world, we need to look powerful and memorable. You can't put a price tag on fashion!]
Konrad felt giddy with excitement and anticipation for the future. However, he had read many light novels and tried to suppress his excitement to think with a calm and rational mind as he knew that overconfidence would only lead to death!
[Before I summon a soldier, I have to look like a proper general first. No matter how much it costs, I must have the highest quality in fashion]
50 source points were consumed, and an imposing SS general uniform formed on his body. The design was the peak of WW2 German design, with high leather boots, black pants, black jacket, shoulder and sleeve insignias and high collar patches. His chest had shiny steel medals, aiguillettes and he was wearing a general's peaked cap with the Imperial Eagle symbol.
After spending some time admiring his uniform, Konrad was sure that if any native saw his uniform, they'd instantly think that he was the imposing young general of some great foreign army. Konrad fully understood that psychological warfare was half of the game.
Konrad clicked his heels and stood up straight, his face emotionless. Due to being in the army cadets in his previous world, he was familiar with military drills and how to perform parade movements. For the first time in his life, he was thankful for the countless hours he was forced to march in file and perform perfect drill.
