Spring City, headquarters of the Professional Alliance Spring City Branch.
Ennis Hawkins, yes, the good-hearted uncle whom Dean McKenzie had met earlier in the sewer, was nervously waiting.
Today was the third day he had sent Dean McKenzie into the Rotting Corpse Plain.
Whether or not Dean McKenzie could survive the Rotting Corpse Plain would be clear today.
As such, Ennis Hawkins was somewhat anxious.
He was worried Dean McKenzie wouldn't make it out.
After all, it was a matter of life and death, not to mention, Dean McKenzie's survival had consequences on the mission he was entrusted with.
If Dean McKenzie didn't make it out of the Rotting Corpse Plain, not only would his mission be deemed a failure, but he himself would be held accountable.
So, it goes without saying how Ennis Hawkins was feeling now.
"Bang!"
Just as Ennis Hawkins was tense, the door of his room was knocked suddenly.
"Come in…"
Before Ennis Hawkins could finish his sentence, the door was pushed open and a tall figure strolled in commandingly.
"Why is it you?"
Seeing the person that entered, Ennis Hawkins changed his complexion, instinctively standing up.
The tall figure in the doorway strolled in without courtesy, sat in Ennis Hawkins's original position, leaned back casually, stretching her chest out, making her curves more imposing than her aura, a pair of strikingly long legs spread out on the coffee table in front of her.
Simultaneously, she threw the handcuffs she had on her onto the coffee table and then raised her chin toward Ennis Hawkins.
"Ennis Hawkins, in the capacity of a silver-tier agent of the Professional Alliance, I summon you because of your negligence during the 'Book of Dark Promotion' mission. Put these on yourself!"
The color drained from Ennis Hawkins's face as he hastily began to explain, "Breanna Holt, I deployed the 'Book of Dark Promotion' in my upcoming mission, and I've already submitted the plan to the branch president…"
"I've seen your plan!"
Ennis Hawkins's words were cut off before he could finish.
As she spoke, Breanna Holt tossed a stack of planning documents onto the coffee table.
"You handed the 'Book of Dark Promotion' to a commoner who was saved from the Evil Cultists just half a year ago, and let him become a Dark Professional to attract the hidden Evil Cultists within Spring City.
Have to say, your plan is…"
Pausing here, Breanna Holt straightened up, fixing her gaze on Ennis Hawkins as she spat out each word, "Utter crap!"
Instinctively, Ennis Hawkins nodded in agreement.
He knew that his so-called plan was just something the branch president hatched out to protect him.
It was basically just for show.
Yet, he couldn't back down now otherwise, he would put the branch president in a tough spot.
"This is our branch's plan, how it goes has nothing to do with you or the Mirror Stand, does it?"
Looking around, Breanna Holt lifted her chin, "How your plan goes indeed has nothing to do with the Mirror Stand, but once your plan fails, we are involved!
According to your plan, the key person in question should be returning from the 'Rotting Corpse Plain' dungeon, right?
Where is he?"
This question only added to Ennis Hawkins's pressure.
The woman was clearly set on pinning him down.
If Dean McKenzie failed to emerge from the Rotting Corpse Plain, he feared he would have no choice but to make a trip to the Mirror Stand today.
"It's not time yet, we need to wait a little longer."
"No problem, I can wait!"
Breanna Holt was behaving as if she had Ennis Hawkins cornered. She seemed to have no belief that Dean McKenzie could ever make it out of the Rotting Corpse Plain.
Truthfully, not only Breanna Holt, but even Ennis Hawkins himself didn't have much confidence in this.
Time passed bit by bit in the silence between them.
Ten minutes later, a scroll suddenly appeared in Ennis Hawkins's hand.
This scroll, which appeared out of thin air, made Ennis Hawkins's heartbeat skyrocket in an instant.
He knew the time to reveal the results had arrived.
The more it got to this point, the more anxious Ennis Hawkins became, so much so that he couldn't open it all at once.
Over to the side, Breanna Holt scoffed, "What, lost faith in your choice so soon? Do you want me to open it for you?"
"No need!"
Under the pressure of Breanna Holt, Ennis Hawkins unrolled the scroll, checking the completion status of the challenge run.
[The challenger has finished the survival challenge of the Rotting Corpse Plain, the reward calculation is underway, please wait!]
The system prompt refreshed at the same moment the scroll was unfurled.
Hearing this system prompt, Ennis Hawkins finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"Ms. Holt, you heard that, I..."
"Congratulations, you won't have to accompany me to the Mirror Stand for now!"
Breanna Holt interrupted Ennis Hawkins again, but he didn't mind this interruption at all.
"Then please take your leave, Ms. Holt."
"Who said I was leaving?"
Ennis Hawkins was eager to bid farewell to the guest, but Breanna Holt had no intention of leaving.
"But, Ms. Holt, I have to..."
"I'm not here solely because of you!"
Breanna Holt narrowed her eyes, gazing at the scroll in Ennis Hawkins' hand.
At this moment, a letter [B] appeared on Ennis Hawkins' scroll.
Seeing that letter, Breanna Holt's eyes lit up: "A B-grade reward evaluation, that's pretty high. I originally thought your ridiculous sense of mercy had recklessly flared up again, but it appears not to be the case this time. No, you should still have the overflow of mercy, although you just happened to stumble upon a good seedling.
Since it's a B-grade reward evaluation, that Dean McKenzie lad must have received a pretty formidable dark profession, at least an Excellent Template, or even possibly a Rare Template."
Hearing this, Ennis Hawkins finally realized.
Breanna Holt didn't come just for him today, she was actually after Dean McKenzie, which made him furrow his brows.
"Ms. Holt, he's my man..."
"Your man? As far as I know, your only connection with him is bringing him back to Spring City half a year ago.
How did he become your man?
Do not mention your supposed plan, that thing is just a prop the old man made to protect you, none of you even intended to execute that plan seriously, right?
Based on your consistent actions, next you're going to try and smooth this over, even send him out of Spring City, correct?
Your method is both wasteful and irresponsible.
You might as well hand him over to me!"
Breanna Holt stared straight into Ennis Hawkins' eyes: "Your plan, although nonsensical, had at least one good point. Hand him over to me, I'll carry out your plan!"
"No!"
Ennis Hawkins firmly objected.
He absolutely didn't want to hand Dean McKenzie over to the crazy woman in front of him. He could fully foresee the dangerous predicaments Dean McKenzie would face once handed over to this madwoman.
Regardless of the fact that he barely knew Dean McKenzie and their initial impression of each other was far from good, his nature would never allow him to push Dean McKenzie into a pit of fire.
Regarding Ennis Hawkins' opposition, Breanna Holt showed a look of utter disdain.
She was about to apply more pressure when suddenly, a burst of light shone and another person appeared in the room. Breanna Holt's eyes fell on the newcomer.
Taking one look at him, Breanna Holt's fiery heart suddenly cooled.
"A Mage Apprentice of only Ordinary Template?"
Wasn't he a complete waste? Why was she even bothering to argue?
Wait!
Breanna Holt suddenly understood.
"If you're just a Mage Apprentice of Ordinary Template, then how did you get a B-grade Evaluation?"
With that question, Breanna Holt's gaze towards Dean McKenzie became dangerous.
