Love Story

MC's POV

After settling into my new life, everyday became a routine for me. Hunt. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

The Mikaelsons avoid me and only nod whenever we meet. No doubt Mikael warned them of the consequences of talking to me. I don't blame them though considering Mikael's personality. Therefore, I can only accept it and carry on living my boring life while waiting for the birth of vampires.

It was about three months after the incident as I was about to drift to sleep, I heard someone crying outside. Looking through the makeshift window I crafted, I saw a blonde woman crying into her hands near the forest which leads to the forest. Sighing, I tried to drift back to sleep but something about her just shouted 'Comfort me'.

With no choice, I decided to sneak out through the window and stealthily walk toward her.

Upon closer look, I recognized who the blonde hair belongs to but instead of turning back I sat next to her and said to her softly,

"Can't sleep? Me neither."

Noticing my presence she hurriedly wiped her tears and pretended to be okay.

"Hey, Rebekah? You know you can talk to me right? We are friends." I turned to my left and flashed her a smile. But she remained silent and continued to look up at the moon. Determined to cheer her up I said,

"Come on! Up you go." I stood up and helped her up to her feet.

"Come on, let me show you something." I dragged her by the wrist into the forest.

"Wait! Cassius, we shouldn't go to the woods. We may get lost–"

After a few twists and turns, we finally arrived at the place I wanted to show her. I put a finger to her lip and said,

"Shh... Look."

Turning to where I was pointing, just a few feet away from us was one humongous and gorgeous Sakura tree.

(A/N: Sakura Tree)

Taking in the scene, her eyes grew wide and her mouth hung open.

"It's beautiful..." She trailed off, eyes not leaving the tree.

"I know." I smirked at her reaction.

"Wha–How is it here? I heard from Ayana that these types of trees don't grow here." She asked, feeling puzzled.

"My father stole the seed from someone trying to pillage our village and gave it to me. It was also his last gift to me before he died." I said, glumly as though I was reliving a nightmare.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked." She ducked her head down feeling guilty.

"Don't be. I accepted my father's death long ago," I said.

Not wanting to ruin the mood, I said while grinning,

"Race you back." And started running back to our village.

"Hey! Hey! Cassius!" She shouted and chased after me.

...

Huff! Huff!

"I won!" I raised my fist and grinned widely like my favourite football team had just won the World Cup.

Bam!

Someone tackled me to the ground and started slapping me on the chest.

"You're going to leave me in the forest." She gave me a death glare and said accusingly.

"How about you get off me first? And I'll tell you." I wiggled my eyebrows.

As soon as she noticed our position, her face burned brightly as she lay down next to me.

"Ohhh, looks like someone's shy." I teased.

"Oh, shut up." She shoved me playfully.

"I was trying to lift your spirits. Did it work?" I turned toward her, staring at those bright blue eyes.

"I don't know. Someone did leave me, a young girl in the forest alone."

Afraid that I may have overdone it with the joke, I turned towards her to apologise but I saw her smiling victoriously as she got one over me. When I saw she was happy and laughing, I smiled back as we watched the sun rise for a few minutes. However, like all good things they must come to an end.

"Well, it's been a blast hanging out with you. But you need to get ready in two hours. I need to leave for hunting in one hour. Good-bye for now." I stood up and stretched before walking towards my window.

After a few steps, I paused, turned around, and told her,

"If you ever need to talk," I pointed to my open window.

"Just knock. Or not." I said while waving.

On that day, Rebekah smiled brighter than she ever had in her entire life.

Unknowingly to me, that night will be deeply ingrained in her mind for the centuries to come.

As she walked away back to her hut, she suddenly turned back and ran up to me and kissed me on my cheek before scurrying back home.

Now it was my turn to be shocked as I watched her go and unconsciously touch the place she kissed.

I stayed for what seemed like hours before I was brought back into reality. I couldn't help but smile as I climbed back into my room and got to bed.

MC's POV

[Time skip: 2 years later]

So far my sister has been the best. She's like the sister you always wanted to have but didn't. I can't say the same about her love life though. I guess no one is perfect. One night she confessed to me that she had feelings for Niklaus. Since then, I've been trying to convince her to confess to Niklaus before Tatia snatches him away. But she never listens. Rebekah and I are doing good. We started dating about a year ago. Secretly, of course. We don't want Mikael to kill me in my sleep, do we? Other than that nothing's changed but I've got a feeling that the peace I've been enjoying will soon disappear.

[Flashback 2 years ago about 4 months in this world]

A woman could be seen walking into the clearing with the humongous Sakura tree. Sitting down under the tree, she brought her legs to her chest and sobbed silently.

Creeping toward Rebekah, I joked.

"We got to stop meeting like this." Expecting a quirky reply from her, she instead embraced me and started tearing up.

"Hey. Hey. Hey. What's wrong?" I asked softly as I rubbed her back in a circular motion.

"It's...Mikael...He was punishing Nik. It wasn't right so I tried to stop him and he started hitting me instead." She said between sniffs.

Just then, it was like something snapped in me. Immediately, my anger erupted through the roof. It was like I was the Hulk. Only one thought remains in my mind.

Kill Mikael.

As Rebekah saw my expression, she grabbed my face so that I would be looking at her blue eyes.

"Cash, hey, it's not that bad. Look at me, promise me you won't do anything stupid." She bitterly smiled, using my nickname for the first time.

Breathing in and out to calm myself down.

He's essential for the birth of vampires. I can't kill him yet. Like a mantra, I repeated it in my head to reason with my berserked self.

"I promise," I whispered as I kissed her forehead.

"It's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay. I promised." I comfort her.

"And Cash? Really? Is that the best you can do?" I teased.

"Shut up." She muttered as we continued hugging each other.

"I can get used to that."

After that night, we decided to meet in secret under the Sakura tree every night. Along the way, we confessed our feelings and also sneaked out during the day just to make out.

Under the Sakura tree, I paced around, practicing in my mind what I was planning to say to her again and again. Because today is the day

I'm about to propose to Rebekah!

Closing my eyes I tried to keep my composure so that I wouldn't fumble my speech when I proposed.

My heart was beating like crazy, like a drum solo.

This is insane! How do people do this so calmly?

Interrupting my thoughts, a pair of hands covered my eyes as I heard a gentle voice whisper in my ear.

"Guess who?"

"Hmm... Tatia?"

"Ugh, you're no fun. I already have two brothers chasing her. I don't need you either." She said, pouting.

"Kidding. You know my heart belongs to you right? Plus I am not into brunettes." I said sincerely, with my palm across my heart.

"So you're saying if she wasn't brunette you'd chase after her?" She asked teasingly.

"Beck..." I shoot her a look that says 'Really?'

"I'm kidding, sort of. So...What got you all nervous that you didn't even notice me creeping behind you?" She asked with concern as I felt her pair of hands fold over mine.

"Err...It's about the thing I wanted to talk to you about." I swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said nervously.

"Please don't say you got someone pregnant. Because I'll literally kill the girl." She deadpanned.

"Nice one. But no. It's not because of that." I chuckled dryly.

Pulling out a dazzling ring, I got on one knee in front of Rebekah. The pupils of her eyes tightened as she covered her mouth with her hands in shock.

I said,

"Rebekah Mikaelson? When we first met in the forest, I thought to myself 'She has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.' Some people say that a person's eyes tell you what kind of person they are. They were right. Right then and there, I knew you were the one for me. You are kind. You are beautiful. You are understanding. Above all else, you are my rock and my best friend. I want to spend my entire life with you and I will love you always and forever no matter your decision.

Would you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

Ba...thump! Ba...thump! My heart started beating rapidly as I awaited her reply.

Wiping the tears of joy from those baby blue eyes, she exclaimed in joy.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times yes! I will marry you, Cassius Nightshade!"

Putting the ring on her ring finger, she grabbed my face as my lips smashed into hers. The kiss felt like an eternity as everything around us came to a stop. It was as if God had dedicated this moment just for us. At the moment, my mind was at peace. No longer fearing what the future holds, I cherish this moment and hope that this moment never ends.
