A slightly plump woman entered the room and said to Su Qingyue, "Bride, I'm Auntie Gui from the village. Chuan asked me to serve you by helping you change into your gown and apply the bridal makeup. Many girls from the village have been married off with me doing their makeup."
Still with a face full of 'spots', Su Qingyue replied, "Auntie Gui, there's no need, I can do my own makeup."
"How can that be? What bride does her own makeup?" Auntie Gui came over without invitation, "Here, let me do your hair and apply some rouge."
"Fine," Su Qingyue thought, given it was still early, in the worst-case scenario she could redo the makeup later.
Auntie Gui tied up Su Qingyue's hair in an old-fashioned bun on the top of her head and inserted three hairpins from the box on the dressing table, before pinning a red flower in the hair by her ear from her own belongings.
