Devil CEO

After the call, Sebastian decided to rest his back on his chair. He closed his eyes and sighed, before sitting right back.

Who knew he had underestimated the affection he had towards her? However, he felt really troubled that there were things he could not handle himself.

He could not help Jolene gain back her memory as soon as possible.

He recalled when the physician had said if her condition remained still, it might result to a permanent amnesia.

It was advisable to do things that would trigger Jolene's memory, however, the physician had said it might lead to something else if she was forced.

He was taking his time but this had been six months!

Six months and Jolene could not still recognise him!

For that six months, he could bear a little but today, when she awoke, she seemed like a completely different person from the moment she attempted strangling him up to the moment she expressed her lack of empathy towards the old woman.

Sebastian heard a smooth sliding noise and he raised his head to see his secretary, Sean.

Sean was well-groomed, with neatly styled dark hair. He was on a charcoal gray tailored business suit with a silk tie and polished leather black shoes.

"President Wang," Sean called and almost immediately, the frustration that was on Sebastian's face immediately disappeared, leaving back the cold and strict face that was always seen.

"What is it?"

Sean walked into his office and stood right in front of him to announce, "They have been—"

However, Sebastian called him off, recalling the most important thing to him now. "Set an appointment with Dr Wu."

"Okay, sir," Sean said, putting it to brain among the things he had jotted down.

When he was about to proceed with the reason he was here, Sebastian stopped him. "Do so now. I'll remain in my office. Attend to the necessities and I will take a nap."

Sean who was about to tell his boss something different, forgot almost immediately as he looked at his boss. He asked, "Where would you like to go to, President Wang?"

Sebastian looked at his desk which was stocked with different files before he sighed. "Do not worry about me." He added, looking up at his secretary, "Stop delaying and do whatever."

Sean bowed a little and approached the door. As he did, Sebastian called his attention. "Have you been able to track down the poster's IP address?"

Sean slowly turned to face his boss and he shook his head. "President Wang, I have been unable to. The poster is anonymous."

"Then contact the administrators!" Sebastian uttered, his voice loud and it was clear he was frustrated.

Further exasperated, Sebastian questioned, "Do I have to explain every step to you like you are five?"

"I will do that right away, sir."

Sebastian nodded and stood up from his chair when Sean rushed out of his office. He turned around, his gaze fixed on the ceiling-to-floor window.

After a while with just staring blankly at the city and its atmosphere, his phone vibrated and he read the message sent to him;

CAPTURED, BOSS. SAME LOCATION.

Sebastian's face turned into one battered in solemnity.

He sighed and kept his phone back in his pocket.

He grabbed his coat from his chair and strolled out from his office in urgency.

Sebastian made his way through the well-lit corridors.

Employees who saw him instinctively stopped in their tracks and lowered their heads until he walked past them. It was a silent, unspoken rule in the organisation —when the CEO walked through, you showed respect.

The journey through the corridors was brief.

Sebastian passed by a line of cubicles where employees hurriedly returned to their work.

He reached the elevator lobby and sent a text message to his secretary;

I AM OFF TO THE LOCATION. DO NOT COME AFTER ME AND BE BUSY WITH WHAT I HAVE ORDERED YOU TO DO.

The polished elevator doors slid open upon his arrival.

Without a delay, Sebastian stepped into the elevator.

Not after a moment, the elevator swiftly ascended to the executive parking level.

When the doors opened, he stepped out, still surrounded by an air of urgency and coldness, a huge contrast to his former demeanour.

Walking through the parking area, he approached his sleek, black luxury car.

Sebastian climbed into the driver's seat, and his car roared to life.

The corridors resumed their usual activity, but the memory of his urgent departure lingered in the air, they would never get used to him.

In a dim-lit room, somewhere far away from WangZ corporation, a man sat down on an austere chair, his both arms tied to the chair and his mouth binded with a thick cloth.

He looked tired as if he had just woken up from a stressful slumber. He wriggled again, despite it being the umpteenth time, hope still lingering as if believing that with his constant struggle, he will be freed.

The only means of comfort was the harsh single overhead bulb.

He looked around, still searching for a means to escape but he couldn't see.

He recountered everything that happened earlier.

He had just gotten down from his car last night when he was suddenly hit on his head and then this morning, he saw himself tied to the chair in this room.

Since morning, no one had come in to show his presence. He had not even seen anyone. A reason he had struggled many times to free himself but found himself even in a far worse predicament.

He must have underated the ropes that had been wrapped around him.

As he strived to free himself again, he heard footsteps approaching and he raised his head, breathing rasply.

Finally, whoever had kidnapped him was ready to show his face.

"Show your face and I will give you whatever amount you ask for!"

However, there was silence throughout and he shouted this time, "Show the hell your face!"

As soon as his voice grew, a deafening gunshot shattered his voice.

The gunshot seemed to echo in slow motion as the bullet sped towards him, barely missing his face by mere inches.

It was a harrowing, heart-stopping moment that seemed to stretch into eternity.

The bullet whizzed past, grazing his cheek and leaving a stinging, red mark in its wake.

The man let out a gasp, his breath quivering as he realised the peril he had narrowly escaped.

Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, and he closed his eyes, struggling to regain his composure until he heard a familiar voice, the exact same time a file of documents were dropped on the table before him.

"Do not think I missed the target, Mark." A silence followed, "I never missed."
