Chapter 53: Amy and Pietro's day out

"Yup, Very good."

"Told you."

Amy continued chewing as she looked at Pietro finish his sandwich. Swallowing, Amy looked up at the front of a Mexican restaurant where they bought their food. She told Pietro about a terrific new sandwich she discovered last week, and he demanded she take him to try one.

"A little too much bread for my liking." Pietro said as he unwrapped another sandwich.

"I like bread." Amy took another bite and chewed happily. The delicious ingredients making up the torta sent her to heaven.

Once the two finished their food, they got up and walked through the city streets of Beverly Hills. Today was Tuesday, and the angel and speedster decided to go out and have fun in the city.

"So, how's your training coming along?" Amy looked over to Pietro and heard him humming.

"I'm getting faster, and I no longer get tired after five minutes." Pietro turned to her with a smirk. "There's this special move Harvey and I have been working on."

"Ooh, a special move?! What is it?" Amy jumped in excitement and smiled at Pietro. "Does it have a name?"

Pietro chuckled and looked forward. He stepped around another shopper who was deeply engrossed in her phone call.

"It's where I can move so fast that the world around me practically freezes. It's the fastest I've ever moved, but I can only manage it for five seconds."

"After that, my legs are pretty much spent."

Amy was impressed by what she heard. Speed like that was godly; she knew of only one other being capable of moving at that speed. Hermes is the messenger of the Greek gods and the son of Zeus.

"That's amazing!" Amy jumped up and wrapped an arm around the silver-haired young man. "If you can get to the point where you can do that for as long as you want, you will be unstoppable!"

Pietro blushed and looked down, an awkward smile on his face. "I don't know if I would say unstoppable."

"Not yet, at least! Have some faith!" Amy grinned at her friend as she let him go and continued walking. Completely ignoring all the men and women who stopped walking to gawk at her. "What are you calling it?"

"Well, I don't really have a name for it. It's just something I can do." Pietro ignored the glares he was getting by some of the more shameless men on the busy streets.

Amy walked closer to Pietro and wrapped an arm around his, Causing the speedster to look at her in surprise. A small blush appeared on his cheeks. "How about 'Blink and you'll miss me'! Oh! Or maybe 'Zero time'?"

Pietro laughed and shook his head; he told her those names were ridiculous. Amy pouted at his response and squeezed his arm, causing him to yelp and stop laughing.

"Ah, we're here!" Amy looked up at the Paramount Theater building. Today, she wanted to watch one of the new movies that just came out, Gravity!

"I'll get us our tickets!" Amy let go of Pietro and ran to the ticket booth, She vaguely heard him say he would get them some snacks. Amy just chuckled at his insatiable appetite.

•••

"That movie was so good!"

Pietro looked over to Amy as she stretched. They had left the theater a few minutes after the movie ended, and the two decided to go for a walk. Pietro blushed and looked away from Amy's shaking chest as she raised her arms to stretch.

"Yeah, it was very entertaining." Pietro smiled and looked up. "Much better than those boring romance movies my sister loves to have us watch."

Amy smiled and shook her head at him. "Wanda is at that age, Pietro. You are, too."

Pietro blushed and turned away from her. She must've caught his staring if her little jab at him was anything to go by.

"It's completely natural my fast friend, you're all just growing up into adults." Amy stood next to her and held her hands behind her back. "It's only a matter of time before you find someone that makes you happy."

Pietro blushed and covered his mouth with his hand. Sometimes, it was hard to remember that his blonde friend was an old angel who specialized in love. It didn't help that she acted very irresponsibly half the time.

"You mean like Wanda?" Pietro said in an attempt to change the subject from him. "I wish she would just say something."

Pietro frowned and looked at all the couples leaving the theater, hand in hand and happy. While he liked Alex, he would prefer his sister to be happy. But after everything Harvey has done for him and his twin, who was he to tell him what to do? Pietro couldn't do that; he owed his friend a great debt.

"Ah, I was wondering when you would have brought that up." Amy grabbed his hand and pulled him over to a free table. They both sat down and looked at the vibrant city, it was nighttime so all the store's lights were on.

"Let me tell you something, Pietro." Pietro turned to look at Amy as her expression changed into that wise look she gained at times.

"Love isn't something you find. Love is something that finds you. That's a quote that one of your fellow members of humanity created."

Pietro gained an odd look on his face. "…what? What does that have to do with my sister?"

Amy shook her head and smiled at him. "I'm trying to say that maybe Harvey is seeing Alex right now, but you never know what could happen between now and the future."

Pietro thought about what she said sincerely and realized what she was getting at. "You never know who you'll end up with, huh."

"Yup. Maybe someday your sister will end up with Harvey, or maybe someday she'll find someone else."

Pietro nodded and sighed. Perhaps Amy was right. Maybe he should let things play out and see where they go.

"You can also accelerate the process by meddling with them." Amy said with a grin as she stuck her tongue out.

"What!" Pietro spun to her with a shocked expression. "After all that, you're telling me to do something about it?! What happened to letting things happen naturally?!"

Amy laughed and banged the table, gone was her wise expression. Pietro just saw her mischievous and goofy look. Feeling a chuckle escape from his lips, he suddenly started laughing alongside the blonde angel.

•••

"You ready?"

Amy asked as she looked over to the speedster. He wore a light grey leather jacket that shined silver; underneath that, he wore a black shirt with an image of a silver lightning bolt. A pair of loose combat pants was on his legs, and two black Adidas shoes were tied on his feet. Finally, on his forehead were large silver goggles.

"Yeah, I'm ready." Pietro slid his goggles over his eyes and looked over the building with her.

"Harvey might sue you if you take his leather jacket look." Amy joked as she inspected his outfit. He would wear this when he ventured out into the city to help. "But I think it suits you."

"Thanks." Pietro smiled and turned to the city. Tonight was his first official day of performing heroic acts in the city.

"Do you see them?" Amy asked as she looked straight at four men following a lone unsuspecting woman walking down the dark street.

"I do." Pietro crouched down and settled into a running position.

"Good, go get 'em'."

Amy nodded and flew up into the sky to get a better view of the upcoming events. Flapping her ethereal wings, Amy looked down at where the four men were, only to see each one disappear in a blur of silver. Following Pietro's fast-moving soul, she spotted him stopping three blocks away. All the men were knocked out and tied up with zip ties.

"Not bad." Amy said as she descended to his location.

"That was quick!" Amy landed and dismissed her wings. Pietro breathed out a sigh and lifted his goggles. Amy looked down and saw the men breathing softly.

"It's certainly a challenge carrying them at fast speeds." Pietro then bent down, grabbed one of the men's phones, and dialed the police.

"Yes, hello? Four slimy men tried to rob a woman. No. They're not armed. Yes, A man in a black leather jacket and hoodie took them down… yes I'll hold."

Pietro hit the mute button and placed the phone beside the men. Amy nodded and smiled. Pietro suggested to simply say that it was Vengeance that took out the criminals he knocked out. Considering Harvey's reputation in the city, it wasn't far-fetched to believe the vigilante was behind this.

"I think we should wrap it up for tonight." Amy said as she focused her senses. "I'm not feeling too much going on in the city."

"Thanks to Harvey reducing the crime rate by forty percent, it certainly keeps things quiet." Pietro mumbled as he held his chin. "Maybe I should go further out of the city? Run through other states."

Amy hummed and thought it was a good plan. With his current stamina, Pietro should be able to run across half the country and be relatively fine.

"That's not a bad idea, but maybe we should practice some more here." Amy held Pietro's shoulder and looked down. "It's better to get more experience in Harvey's city, so if something happens, he can get to you quickly."

Pietro looked down and nodded. Amy could sense he wanted to argue, but he must have realized what she said was true. He was still new to the superhero gig, so having some help at the start could make a difference.

"Okay… I'll race you home!"

Amy blinked and saw Pietro disappear in a blur of silver. Quickly shaking herself out of her surprise, she summoned her wings and flew upwards.

"That's cheating!"

•••

"Good morning, sister."

Wanda turned her head and saw her brother walk into the kitchen. His hair was a mess, and he was dressed in his nightwear.

"… it's two in the afternoon." Wanda said in disappointment.

"…seriously?"

"Seriously."

Pietro stood in surprise but quickly shook his shoulders and grabbed a box of cereal. Wanda shook her head and turned back to her book and notebook. Pietro sat down with his bowl and looked up at her.

"How's your studying going?" Pietro then shoved a spoon filled with fruit loops into his mouth.

"Better, I'm getting a good grasp on the subject." Wanda turned the page on her algebra book and read its contents.

Ever since they completed their mission behind the bombing culprits, Wanda decided she wanted to return to school and get an education. Back in Sokovia, getting a proper education was challenging due to the civil unrest in the country, but here in America, it was much more peaceful, and the learning opportunities were vast.

"That's good." Pietro said through a full mouth.

"Don't talk with your mouth full." Wanda said in disapproval. "It's disgusting."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Afternoon everyone."

Wanda turned her head and saw Harvey walk into the kitchen. He was dressed in his vigilante outfit and covered in dry blood. He finally returned from his mission out in Utah.

"Harvey!" Wanda quickly stood up and looked him over. "You're covered in blood! What happened?!"

Harvey chuckled, grabbed a glass, and filled it with water. "Easy there, Wanda. It's not mine."

"I just got into a fight with a killer demon that made it rain blood. I handled it." Harvey told them with a smile, as if what he said was normal for him.

"…okay." Pietro said slowly. "Gross, but cool."

"Go shower!" Wanda ordered as she lifted Harvey with her magic. "Don't track any blood in the house."

"Yes, ma'am." Harvey said as he allowed himself to be dragged by her to his bedroom. After placing him down, Harvey turned to her and thanked her.

"I'll be down in a second. I was thinking we all go get what we need for what we're bringing over for Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday."

Wanda hummed and nodded. She remembered him telling them Alex's grandpa, Jay Pritchett, invited them all to join him and his family for the holiday. Wanda didn't want to intrude, but Harvey insisted they all go; considering that he and the Pritchett, Dunphy, and Tucker were friendly with one another, it only made sense he brought his own.

"Okay. I'll see you downstairs then." Wanda smiled and nodded.

Harvey smiled and closed the door. Seeing as Wanda didn't want to stand around and listen to him shower, she walked over to her room to change into an outfit fit for going out. Once she was changed, she walked downstairs and saw her brother shake a second box of cereal; it seemed she should add cereal to the grocery list.

"Pietro, we're gonna go to the store to get some groceries. Hurry up and change." Wanda told her brother as he ate whatever was left in the box.

"Oh, is Harvey coming along?" Wanda was confused as to why her brother asked that. Usually, the three of them went out to get their groceries together, so it was odd for her brother to ask that question.

"Yes?" Wanda answered. "Is that a problem?"

"No! No, no. I was just curious." Pietro zoomed out of the room and returned appropriately dressed, hair combed, and everything. "Here you go, sister."

Wanda accepted the money from her brother with an odd look. "What's this for?"

"You see, I promised Amy that I would help her with- with her thing! So I can't come along. So, as an apology from me, take this money and treat Harvey and you to some brunch!"

Wanda nodded in understanding and eyed her brother. Something was up with him. He was acting odd and evasive.

"Pietro."

"…yes, sister?"

Wanda gave him a look, a look he was too familiar with. It was a look that said, 'I know you're up to something. Tell me what it is'.

"Oh! Look at the time! I have to go!" Pietro pulled out his phone and smiled awkwardly at her. "I'll see you later!"

Before Wanda could demand an answer, Pietro zoomed out of the room. A sudden door slamming alerted her that he already left the house. Releasing a sigh, Wanda dropped the subject for now.

"I might as well just do as he said. A nice brunch sounds nice." Wanda smiled and walked into the living room to wait for her housemate. "Just me and Harvey."

Wanda's eyes widened, and she finally realized what her brother was doing. Feeling her cheeks warm up, Wanda looked down at her hands and fiddled with her fingers.

"Just us two... Like a date."
