Chapter : 7 : Servants! Quests!

Gudako P.O.V

Why are they so aggressive with each other, where the hell did the system pull their memories from this time?! I mean while Cu and Hassan I could somewhat get since it was a pretty bad mismatch, why are they already out for each other's throats straight out of the gate? On the topic of Hassan, I just realized I have yet another awkward situation to look forward to, considering it's Camelot Hassan.

???: Hahh?! Fine then, Noble Phatasm Release, Clare-

???2: No you don't! Dan-No-Ura Hassou-

Yeah, I better stop this before my brand new shiny hare- I mean servants kill each other.

Gudako: Stop! Stop fighting! You haven't even done the whole introduction thing I'm looking forward to when I get new servants! So hold your murderous intent for just a minute!

Mordred: Oh, sorry bout' that Master. Servant, Mordred, ready to beat the shit out of people at your beck and call! Anyways, by any chance is father here?

Gudako: Nice to meet you, you can call me either Gudako or Master, whatever you prefer. Also sorry about your father, she isn't here.

Mordred: Bummer, well lookin' forward to working with you either way!

Gudako: Me too, looking forward to working with you as well. Anyways, how about you over there next?

Also because I have a thing for tomboys... but let's just keep that intention hidden. I mean it's less of a thing for tomboys and more so just hot or pretty girls in general. Am I essentially abusing the system to build a harem of hot girls, yes! I very much am going to do that! I only realized it now since the system has just been giving me guys so far, but now I see the potential here. Onto Ushi now, I just want the introductions because it's sort of part of the experience.

Ushi: I am Ushiwakamaru and I have been called upon. Honoring my full devotion as a samurai, I will do my utmost best!

Gudako: Nice to meet you too, Ushi!

Ushi: U-Ushi?! Well I suppose as my Master and superior, it's alright. Mhm! Ushi is just fine!

Gudako: Thanks for letting me call you that, since sorry about this, Ushiwakamaru is a bit of a mouthful.

Ushi: I understand, it certainly is. Non-Japanese servants or masters end up having a hard time with it as well.

Gudako: It's good that we could come to an understanding so easily, but uhm... have you seen Mordred?

Ushi: That brat- I mean that knight? Hmm... I didn't notice she snuck off actually... just where did she go?

*Crush* *Crack* *Smash*

We both simultaneously turn our heads over to see Mordred brutally beating a poor soldier that I assumed tried to sneak up on us. Well I guess we were loud and they were about to release both of their noble phantasms, so it's natural that would attract some attention. But really? Is this girl really a saber?

Mordred: Die! Die! Die! Take this! My special Clarent Bloody Beatdown!

I then see her turn her sword around and hold it by the blade, bludgeoning the man who I am pretty sure is already unconscious to death with the pommel of the sword. She keeps going on with the beating until the soldier's helmet appears to be completely crushed in, but since there is a lack of blood I'm assuming it was an undead of some kind.

Mordred: Phew! To think I'd get in a fight so early into my summoning, this is gonna be fun!

I don't think I could really call that much of a fight, though... it was more of Knight of the Round Table brutality.

Ushi: How crude, a quick slice to the neck would have decapitated that enemy swiftly and cleanly.

Mordred: If it's dead, it's dead! Who cares how ya get there?! Quick slice to the neck or me busting it's head in, the enemy is slain either way!

Ok, better stop this before another fight breaks out. Besides that reason though, I also need to figure out why they are so keen on fighting each other as well. I've really had enough of trying to sort out my servants already, and that was just with Cu and Hassan. Like, aren't they a bit too competitive to show their superiority to me? I really hope this isn't because of Harem Protagonist EX...

Gudako: Ok, ladies-

Mordred: *Offended noises*

Gudako: I mean, uhm... my loyal servants! Can you kindly explain why exactly you two want to either slice the other's head off, or turn the other's head into a red paste? Is it any memories before this or... just give me a explanation.

Mordred/Ushi: About that... / Well...

-----

It turns out the two are so out for blood is because their memories are pulled from a grail war. A grail war which involved the both of them. From what I can recall at least, I don't remember a grail war involving those two, so it must be some random one from a random timeline. Turns out the master's they served wanted the other dead, really dead, so the two formed a sort of rivalry from that as well.

They also said something about being annoyed since the grail war was "unfair", I'll have to ask about that too. I'm really curious about that, since I know by no means are these two weak servants. How can I not be interested by a grail war which wasn't shown in any Fate media?! I just gotta ask!

Gudako: I see... mind explaining why it's so unfair? I know you two are strong, so what servants were you up against?

Mordred: Don't know the names since they don't tell you the kinda stuff in a grail war, but there was some... tall skeleton guy? Big sword, glowy eyes, billowing cape, had spikes and skulls everywhere too! That was super awesome and all, but I don't know... he gave me the creeps...

Why is there a Grand Servant in there?! I see why it's unfair! What is this timeline on?! I'm kind of scared to ask who else was involved in that grail war at this point. I mean just him being there is already unfair.

Gudako: Anyone else memorable? Or was it just that guy?

Ushi: Oh! I have someone in mind, Master. There was another servant, he was extremely skilled with a bow. But even when I tried to engage in close combat, I couldn't even scratch him, even my noble phantasm didn't phase him at all. He was truly a fearsome opponent.

Ok... that one is a bit vague... but I have a slight idea of who that might be. If my guess is correct this grail war really is unfair, I'm starting to feel bad for these two.

Mordred: Ooh! That reminded me! I swore I saw my mom there! At least I think it was my mom... but really?! How mean can she be! She said the only daughter she had was some bitch named Tristan! Who names their daughter Tristan! It's so manly!

What the hell is Lostbelt Morgan doing there?! There is definitely something wrong with this timeline! Also the irony of her saying that is not lost on me either.

Ushi: Hmm? So that was your mother?

Mordred: Yeah? Well she at least looked like her, what about it?

Ushi: To think she wouldn't ally with her own daughter, and yet I saw a small girl helping her out. It was careless of me to underestimate that girl, she was way too strong for that size, and that wasn't including the flying... or the dragon part... perhaps that was Tristan? Actually maybe not, I recall the name also started with an 'm', much like Morgan.

Ok... whoever put those two in this grail war is just an evil person. This is bullying, pure bullying.

Mordred: You're telling me she teamed up with some dragon brat before me?! Damn... it's not fun when you're the one getting betrayed... but wait a minute?! Teaming up?! How?!

Ushi: Most likely her loyalty to your mother was greater than her master, and so she must have found some way to get free.

Gudako: Hmm... I've seen that done before, so I guess it is plausible.

Mordred: Agreed, I mean I did see some overly shiny prick walking around even after I blasted his master into ashes. Kept screaming shit about me being a mongrel, it's true, but the audacity of the fucker!

Even him? Really? Even I don't know who the winner of that grail war would be, but I really want to watch it... from a safe distance. No way would I ever go remotely close to a ticking time bomb like that.

Gudako: Hey, you guys, I'm sorry...

Mordred: Huh? For what?

Ushi: Master, don't apologize, fighting is simply what we do.

Gudako: It's not fine! This is some EX tier bullying! I can't stand for it, so let's go bully some random mobs for free loot, it's payback-

Gudako: Nevermind! Let's just sit here and be unproductive!

Mordred: Okay then?

Ushi: Very well, my last master was indecisive, so I can understand. Leading is very difficult, too many difficult decisions and so many responsibilities.

Ushi, I feel like you should be a tad more like Mordred. There really isn't any deep reason, though I can't deny I'm not indecisive. Actually, it's fine, if she was like Mordred we may end up being a bit too much like brutes in the end. Plus it was actually pretty nice of her to say that... damn... I really am indecisive, my opinion sure changed quick.

-----

I feel my consciousness return to me, being greeted by a sharp and poking sensation on my back, with a rather nice soft feeling on my face. I open my eyes to see that I am in a pile of bodies, consisting of me, Ushi, and Mordred. Since Mordred isn't in her final ascension, the armor really hurts with all it's sharp bits.

As for the soft feeling? It appears the system has decided to plant me face down into Ushi's stomach. So right now I am currently being sandwiched between two girls. Thank you system, maybe you aren't such a bully after all! Though I would prefer to get out of this already, it's starting to get uncomfortable.

Mordred: Ughh... the hell happened?

Ushi: I don't know, but... Master, are you okay?

Gudako: Just fine, in fact I'm better than oka- I mean yeah, just fine.

Not making that same embarrassing mistake again, that whole situation with Guild Girl taught me that. Plus in all actuality I just met these two, so it would be really awkward to get all weird about it this fast. Not that I mind in the future- *AHEM* I should really focus on Guild Girl for now. I'm soon brought out of my thoughts though, since I hear some muffled steps and talking approaching our room.

Hmm, the voices seem masculine enough, so it must be Hassan and Cu. But them together? I guess they must finally be getting along! Hooray! At least I hope that's the case. Well they finally reach the door from what I can hear and begin to open it, and I forgot we are still in the pile. Also that Mordred is here and a Hassan from Camelot is about to enter... I should really hurry before things get messy.

Cu: Haha! To think that I missed out on that! Damn, I wish I was there.

Hassan: Certainly, that siege was a spectacle to behold, and I'm sure you would have found a worthy opponent easily with those Knights- Knights... like that one over there...

Cu: Huh? Oh hey, Master! Looks like you snatched up another couple ladies, huh? Just make sure you don't go too overboard, you'll really regret it afterwards. Anyways, Hassan- uhm? You okay?

Hassan: What are you doing here, oh Knight of Treachery?

Mordred: Hoh? Who's this? Pickin' a fight already?

I then feel Mordred get off my back and stand up, thank goodness- wait not thank goodness! This whole inn might go up in smithereens!

Cu: This looks like... none of my business! Let's go, Master!

With me being set free from the sandwich I was in, Cu picks me up like a bag of potatoes and gets in a stance, as if ready to jump out the second this looks bad. Hey! Don't forsake the inn so quickly! Additionally Ushi gets up and gets ready as well, it seems even she notices the tension. I thought the system got the most optimal memories, but clearly it doesn't!

Ushi: Don't worry, Master. I specialize in agility, we can get out of this just fine.

Gudako: I really hope we don't find ourselves in a situation where we need to escape though...

Then I see Mordred materialize her sword, and Hassan pulls out three dirks in response. Hey! Why are you all so quick to violence! Really... how the hell did Chaldea do it?

Mordred: So what is it this time? Old grudges? Screwed ya over in some way?

Hassan: You could say that, but without that gift from your king, I am much more confident in my ability to win.

Suddenly Mordred de-materializes her sword, and gains a look less like a blood-thirsty knight and more like a puppy.

Mordred: Father?! Where?

Gudako: Sorry Mordred, but she isn't here either.

Mordred: Oh... well... that pisses me off! Now I really wanna beat the shit outta someone!

Why?! Please system, just this once, give me an Artoria or something!

[ No. Artoria is not eligible for free gifts or welfare status. ]

Damn you! Bully! Oppressor! Capitalist scum!

Hassan: I too would like nothing more than to rip the heart out of someone right now, but I at the very least understand from previous encounters and our talk, you are not the Mordred I knew. It is not wise to hold grudges from the past, or hold someone accountable for things they never did.

As expected from best uncle, such wise words! Though I'd never expect they would come from the assassin in our party of all things.

Mordred: *Sigh* I guess, plus Master over there looks like she wouldn't be too happy with us blowing up what I assume is her house. Still, mind explaining what's going on?

Hassan: I do know generally, but I think Master over there is much more suited for that role.

Hassan... why did you have to dump the responsibility of explaining all of this on me. Well, guess I better get to it.

Gudako: Well, I'll get to that, but can you let me down first, Cu?

Cu: Ah yeah! Got it!

Then he proceeds to just let go of me without a care, and I drop to the floor with a thud. Seriously! How the hell did this guy get with so many women! He lacks any tact!

Gudako: Gee, thanks for the consideration. Anyways, it basically all starts with...

-----

I finish my explanation and it seems like Ushi is in deep contemplation, while Mordred looks like she is having a... safe to say existential crises. I didn't go into the whole reincarnation part or how I was a guy, that would just make this weird situation even weirder. I just explained how I can summon heroic spirits through some unknown system.

Besides that also how it gives me other random stuff as well, and how they aren't really technically heroic spirits. Along with the whole other worlds/universes part, in addition to a basic overview of the situation we find ourselves in and what they can do in the meantime. Just a quick summary of the events up until now basically.

Ushi: It is complicated, but so are any matters regarding magic and the like. I understand, I stand by what I said before, I shall simply serve you with my honor as a samurai and as Ushiwakamaru.

Gudako: Nice, so what about you Mordred?

Her eyes seemed glazed over and her mouth is drooping open, almost as if she is dead. I didn't kill her with an information overload, did I?!

Mordred: So... you're telling me... that I'm basically alive again and get to kick some ass while I'm at it?! Hell yeah!

Oh, back to normal Mordred. I guess she just took a bit of time to process it all. I mean it is a lot of stuff to take in to be fair. Now then, I basically have a whole part of people here, so let's take on a quest! But before that I want to try something out, so I'll send them off to decide what quest to take and prepare a bit in advance.

Gudako: Hey everyone, how do you feel about taking on a quest together as a party?

Cu: Hmm... I'm fine with it!

Hassan: While I typically work alone, I have worked with the other Hassans before, so very well.

Ushi: A quest? Well... alright, if you wish.

Mordred: What kinda quest? If it's killing shit, count me in! Just don't get in my way though.

Gudako: So everyone agrees, that's great then! But first I want to practice with something a bit, so can you guys all head over to the guild? Don't worry, Cu and Hassan will lead the way, just make your preparations and decide on a quest.

Cu: Got it, Master. Everyone! Follow me! As the first servant here, I'll lead the way!

Hassan: Then I'll go ahead in advance and scout out the quests, I wouldn't want the good ones to be taken. But Master, are any quests fine? Or goblin quests per usual?

Hmm... while I would want to take a goblin quest, I'm not quite sure I'm ready yet. I'll just see when I get there, I'm not in any particular rush anyways.

Gudako: Just pick any quest that looks good and fitting enough for our party.

Hassan: Understood. I'll be going now, Master.

With that he vanishes from the spot he was standing in, I didn't even know he could do that in broad daylight. But... did he really have to leave the window open again? So I stand up and go over to close it again.

Ushi: Impressive... well enough of that, I'll be going now too.

Mordred: Me as well, see ya later!

With that Cu along with the two girls head out of the front door. Now that I'm left alone, I can try out the new special thing I got. What is that? It's my class card of Lancelot of course! I wanted them to go out first since I'm not quite sure how much control I have over it, and I wanna try practicing with a few weapons without the risk of hitting any of them.

So I pull out the card, a golden card with the image of a berserker on it. Hmm... but how did I activate this last time? I know I just got really pissed at the system, but I can't count on that being the way I activate it, I need a more surefire way to get this thing to work. So what would that be?

Gudako: Hmm... I got it! Lancelot! I choose you!

I throw the card onto the floor aggressively and... nothing happens, besides a pathetic noise that came from it slamming into the floor. Another failed attempt, huh?

Gudako: What about this?!

I slam the card into my chest, and surprisingly enough, it actually starts glowing. But then it stops, really? Did it just have to get my hopes up like that?

Gudako: Dammit! What else could work? Uhh... hmm...

Lost in my thoughts and getting more annoyed at this card, I accidentally squeeze it a bit too hard, which makes it shatter into little glowing pieces that float away.

Gudako: Did I just break it? Is that supposed to happen-

Then suddenly my vision gets all weird and I feel like I'm encased in something metallic.

Gudako: AhHhHHhHhhh?

My voice is also nothing but distorted screams of varying volumes, I guess it worked? Yay! It finally worked! It seems I just needed to angrily crush it, so cheers for getting pissed off at random stuff! But first test, I try pulling the helmet off to no avail. I tried this for the rest of the pieces of armor, and nothing happened, the pieces wouldn't budge at all.

If that wouldn't work, maybe I should try imagining it turning into mana? Like what the card looked like when I crushed it. Since all of this is magical in nature, maybe that's how to get these things off. I really wanna see if it's possible since it would be convenient if I could materialize parts of the armor or remove the helmet to hopefully speak normally.

So I try just that, and... oh? It actually seems to be working! I bring my gauntlet up to my face and it is slowly fading off into little mana particles. So I just plop down on the bed waiting for it to all come off. I am pretty new at this, so I hope I can get good enough that they come off and on faster.

It finally comes off and I try touching stuff with it, and it seems it's just my normal hand. Nothing is turning into any noble phantasms. I'm pretty sure the normal class cards couldn't do this, so I'm thankful the one the system gave me is modified somewhat. I guess I'll practice with this a little more until I get better, not too long though, don't want to keep them waiting too long.

Third Person P.O.V

A party of four are seen in front of the quest board. A knight adorned in silver armor with red accents along with an intimidating man covered in a large cloak, almost as if he is a shadow himself. In addition to these two, a scantily clad women is inspecting the quest board, while some guy in blue spandex is also there.

Hassan: We should simply take a goblin quest as usual, this one has rather good rewards, does it not?

Cu: I mean, it does... but they are getting a bit repetitive. What about this one, I'm sure Master would be fine with this quest about some... Beholder? It pays a lot, so I'm sure she would be happy to take it.

Ushi: I agree, it seems like a good quest to take-

Mordred: Nah! What about this one! Let's go beat the crap out of a... how do I pronounce this? A Terrain? The rack? Thesaurus? Torque?

Hassan: Let me see that, perhaps I can read it properly.

Hassan then proceeds to snatch the paper from Mordred's hands, keeping it out of her reach as she tries to get it back.

Hassan: It's a... Tarrasque? The reward is extremely large, no extremely large is an understatement.

Mordred: Lemme see! Lemme see!

Cu: Oh? Just how big is the reward?

Hassan: See it for yourself.

Hassan then passes it over to Cu, as Mordred is still desperately trying to get a better look at it like a small child.

Cu: What the?! Isn't this the wealth of a small country?!

Ushiwakamaru is next to grab the paper, and examines it briefly.

Ushi: Hoh? With this much perhaps Master can truly become a great lord, I certainly would have no issues being her retainer.

Mordred still hopping around, finally manages to snatch the paper now that Ushiwakamaru had it, and finally gets to read it properly, since she was too focused on pronouncing the name previously.

Mordred: 100 platinum? It's a lot, but not like you guys were saying it was worth.

Cu: It's 100,000 platinum, idiot! Add 3 more zeroes!

Mordred: Oh... no wonder father never let me handle the treasury in place of Bedivere or Agravain... eh, who needs math skills anyways!

Mordred then tosses the paper behind her, which Ushiwakamaru quickly dashes to and manages to catch before she hands it over to Cu.

Cu: So... are we taking this quest?

Ushi: I am in agreement for taking it, it would be great if I could raise the honor and respect of Master to that of a Lord, as she should be.

Mordred: It's a giant lizard thing I get to beat the life out of, of course we're taking it!

Hassan: Indeed, she deserves as such, and we will certainly need more space and funds for any future servants.

As the party make an agreement on the quest, a blonde haired girl is quietly sweatdropping while holding a stack of papers behind her desk.

Guild Girl: ( How do I tell them that quest is only allowed to be taken by platinum ranked adventurers... and also she has even more people with her now?! Not to mention they all look strong and have expensive looking equipment! Even if I originally came from a noble family, I couldn't hope for that much. Well I'm sure she'll tell me about it later- )

*Screech*

Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of wheels coming to an abrupt stop, but the noise was loud enough that it attracted the attention of other adventurers in the guild as well. The party of four also look outside, to see their Master riding on some sort of carriage, but without any horses. The coloring is also odd, as it is black with red cracks of some kind all over it, not mentioning the odd gauntlets she had on her hands.

Gudako: Guys, look! I have a Bersercar!

Mordred: Holy shit! What is that?!

Hassan: A horseless carriage, how odd.

Ushi: I wonder if it's faster than me...

Cu: Bersercar... racing...

Cu Chulainn was currently having an unsavory flashback of his time in a certain contest that involved racing.

Guild Girl: Really...

Guild Girl sighs as she sets down her stack of papers.

Guild Girl: you just keep surprising me, Guda.

Gudako P.O.V

This is really so exciting! Well I would be much happier if it wasn't for the reward from clearing the tutorial dungeon since it was the first dungeon I completed... so what is it? Well I got another 10 roll and got 1 really worthwhile thing...

[ Memorabilia Realizer (A+) ]

System... explain...

[ Memorabilia Realizer: Turn any memorabilia clearly depicting a character into it's real life counter part. ]

Why am I so sad about this? If I were to recall... I may or may not have angrily thrown a Arjuna Alter poster in some goblin cave I don't know the location of or even want to go back to.

...

Wait a damn second! Didn't I win some other memorabilia? Well, let's just hope that I did since I don't remember all too clearly or I might just be wrong. So back to the priority at hand, which is the quest we're gonna take!

Gudako: Hey guys, what quest did you choose?

Cu: Heh, you'll be really happy with this one, Master.

Hassan: I can attest to that, the reward is simply amazing.

Ooh? This sounds promising!

Ushi: Definitely, you will be known as a great hero if we take this quest. Come on Mordred, show Master the quest.

I see Mordred walk up to the carriage I'm sitting on and proudly pull out a quest paper. This is really getting exciting.

Mordred: Look! We're gonna go kill a Terrace!

Hassan: Tarrasque, Mordred. It's a Tarrasque.

Mordred: Yeah, a Terrance!

I feel my soul leave my body, what the hell did these idiots pick...
