Chapter 32 - Forgotten Meeting

"Do you really not know about it?" asked Yorick as he couldn't even begin to understand how such a thing was even possible in the first place.

How could someone with a connection with a God, not know one?

However, Darius was truly clueless and the expression on his face showed this extremely well.

"No, I don't know anything about it," uttered Darius. as he didn't want to reveal anything about what happened to the Church.

Maybe he could talk about it to Yorick, but he doubted that another Awakened Contract was in this trash of his and he didn't dare to ask for one once again.

"But how?" mumbled Yorick, questioning himself it seemed. "Maybe the God you met made you forget about your encounter," said Yorick in such a muffled voice that Darius didn't hear any of it.

"Do you remember meeting with any God?" asked Yorick, already kind of knowing the answer.

Nonetheless, he wanted to make sure.

Darius, this time, was even more clueless than before why was this man talking about meeting with a God?

Didn't he only have a connection with a God, why was this even connected in the first place?

"I didn't, well, not that I know of," replied Darius.

Yorick hearing this, moved his head up and down to show that he understood.

"Then, that must be it, the God you met made you forget about your meeting," said Yorick, now almost sure of his information.

Darius hearing that was confused, some God had made him forget about a meeting.

Seeing Darius's incomprehension, Yorick explained why he had just said such a thing.

"You see, to have a connection with a God you need to meet with them and they need to give you something. In your case, what she left you is this system of yours which I must say is quite interesting."

'Wait my system comes from a God?' thought Darius, not sure he was keeping up with all this information that Yorick was unfolding.

"Either way, that's the reason that the rank of your system is hidden. The God that gave you this system probably didn't want you to know of its strength right away," said Yorick, not sure as to what he was advancing.

However, Darius found what seemed to be a gap in that man's story. That system he didn't get it when he appeared, he had gotten it after killing his first monster which meant that it wasn't a gift and that he had gotten it by himself.

"But, that doesn't work, my system... I got by myself killing a goblin. So, how could it be a gift from some unknown God?" asked Darius, wanting some sort of explanation in that regard.

Hearing that, Yorick was a bit confused for a moment but then he understood.

"That makes sense actually, the God probably didn't want you to learn about it at all which is why he decided to make the system and your awakening only happens when killing your first monster. That way you would find nothing weird about your system."

Darius understood what this meant, nonetheless, he still wasn't completely convinced by this matter.

Was his system really given by some sort of God?

Was it the same God who orchestrated his new life in this world?

Multiple questions started popping up inside his mind and he started to think about why he had been reincarnated in this world into a completely new body.

Who had done such a thing?

He hadn't thought about that yet, but it seemed that he had caught the attention of the God named Lilia and that he had a certain connection with her.

'Well, the system given by a God would explain its hidden rank,' thought Darius, admitting that part.

However, for the rest, he couldn't confirm or deny the information. Either way, he still listened and took all that information in.

"I think I get it," replied Darius.

"That's it? You're not even excited or surprised?" said Yorick, wondering why he didn't see any sort of emotions on Darius's face when learning about that.

However, the reason that Darius didn't have much surprise on his face was because of the message he had received from the system when leaving the Church saying that he had strengthened his connection with a God named Lilia.

That was why he didn't feel that excited and the other reason was because all of this was pretty much unknown that he knew absolutely nothing about.

'I wonder if the Royal Academy has books on the Gods of this world?' thought Darius, as he knew where he would be going after leaving the Slums.

But then his thoughts were interrupted by Yorick.

"Well, it's not like this concerns me, you can just leave. Oh, and I made it seem like you had a B-Rank System, so it's not too good not too bad, pretty much average just like you wanted," said Yorick, chasing Darius out of his room.

Darius hearing that it now seemed that he had a B-Rank System was happy that he wouldn't get approached by so many fake people, he would simply be able to live his life without gaining too much attention or so he thought.

Then, as he got out of Yorick's room, Ashe was patiently waiting for him with a weird expression on her face, probably wondering what the two of them had talked about.

"Let's go," said Darius, as he went toward the half-broken piece of wood that Yorick called a door.

Ashe, hearing that, simply followed him as she shouted.

"Bye Yorick, I hope I won't see you again."

"Me too, Ashe, me too," shouted back Yorick.

It seemed that the two of them had a weird relationship but that didn't interest Darius as he had many things on his mind.

Then, as they got outside Ashe couldn't resist her envy of knowing what the two of them had discussed inside that room as she bombarded Darius with questions.
