The Pain of Being Empty

My name is Arthur Akai, an ordinary happy 13 year old.

I never had any great difficulties in my life. I am smart, athletic, have a good face and good personality.

I didn't have everything I wanted but it was not a problem, I have my family and friends who made my life the happiest I could ever ask for.

In my family my parents always showered me and my younger sister with love. My father was proud of his son while my mother took good care of me. My sister was very cute, and she would say "I love you!" to me. She liked to hang out with me the most and when she looked at me her eyes would shine as the most precious jewel.

I also had two lovely childhood friends and a best friend. They are amazing girls each with their qualities. I have known my childhood friends since kindergarten while I got to know my best friend when I was in elementary school.

That's basically my life, as long as I have my family and friends I will be the happiest person in the world.

"Onii-chan, wake up!"

I slowly opened my eyes as I heard someone calling me. Looking at the person who is above me in the bed with her hands on my shoulder and holding a beautiful smile, I can't help but smile.

"Good morning Lily."

Lily Akai, my younger sister, is 1 year younger than me and is very energetic. Whenever she has a chance, she would hang out with me, she is a very lovely girl.

"Onii-chan good morning! I will be waiting for you, so come downstairs quickly for us to have breakfast together with mom."

She said that and ran downstairs.

"She is cute…"

While admiring my sister's cuteness I started to get ready for school. But then I started to think about my life.

During kindergarten I had two childhood friends, Aria Taylor and Yue Mu.

We played a lot in the nearby park along with my sister. Our friendship is very deep and is unshakable.

When I was in elementary school I met a girl called Ellie Kelley. As we got to know each other we grew closer till without realizing we became best friends.

During my life I learned many things. I am only 13 but I feel like I already discovered the true meaning of life. Life is about feelings. The feelings we have for each other is the most precious thing in the world. During life we share feelings with the important people around us, and as we share our feelings we grow closer and create a bond. This bond which is full of good memories gives us happiness, security and trust.

As long as I am with the ones who are important to me I will be unconditionally happy.

As I was lost in thoughts I arrived at the dining table and started to have breakfast along with my mother and sister. It was very vivid, with us talking about all kinds of events.

"Mom, we are going. Have a great day!"

"Bye Mom! Thank you for breakfast!"

My sister and I left and walked toward the usual place where we meet our childhood friends.

"Good morning Arthur! Good morning Lily!" x2

Aria and Yue greeted us at the same time which I thought was a very cute sight.

Aria had beautiful crimson hair and eyes, she was very sentimental and was even more energetic than my sister.

Yue was like me and my sister, she had black hair and eyes. Her personality was calm and she was very friendly.

While admiring both of them in my head, my sister and I greeted them at the same time.

"Good morning Yue. Good morning Aria."

"Good morning Aria! Good morning Yue!"

After the greetings the four of us looked at each other and started laughing. We then set off to school while chatting happily as always.

When we got to school we separated ways to our classes. Yue came with me as we were in the same class.

When we arrived at class I was greeted by my best friend Ellie Agnor.

"Good morning Arthur and Yue."

Ellie had blond hair that reached her waist and beautiful blue eyes. She had a elegant aura around her and was very smart.

We greeted each other and then we went to our seats and started talking about all sorts of things.

By the way, Ellie sits on my left while Yue sits on my front.

As time went by the teacher arrived and the class started.

During lunch time Ellie, Yue, Aria and I were having lunch together.

"Arthur, are you confident in the upcoming test next week?"

Aria asked me with visible anxiety on her face and voice.

"Yes. My results should be good as always."

I smiled at her with confidence and gave my answer.

She then made a request.

"Do you mind helping me study for the test? As you know I am not good at studying, and I am worried I can't pass this test without your help."

Looking at her puppy eyes I immediately agreed.

"Of course. We are friends, we should help each other."

Hearing my answer Aria smiled. Ellie then changed the topic.

"Arthur, do you want to hang out at my house after school? My mom bought a lot of sweets."

Hearing the words "sweets" Arthur's eyes suddenly started to shine. Without even thinking twice he immediately gave an answer.

"Yes! I am going!"

The other two girls had a dissatisfied look on their faces, probably because they weren't invited, but there is nothing I could do about it. My love for sweets is publicly known and they even joke that if a strange man came and offered me sweets to follow him I would do it like a child.

Jokes apart, the lunch continued without any complications. When the bell rang we returned to class and had a good time learning the new subject the teacher was explaining, at least I did…

When the bell rang signaling the end of class I said to Ellie and Yue that I was going to use the restroom. I went there, did my business, and washed my hands.

I was surprised when I got out and saw two girls waiting for me in the front of the restroom.

If I am not wrong their name was Natalie and Leilane.

"Arthur, come with us, we have a surprise for you! Everyone worked so hard on it, and there will be sweets!" (Natalie)

A light flicked in my eyes when I heard the words everyone, worked so hard, and sweets. I didn't know exactly what was going on but I decided to go with them.

I smiled and said "lead the way." for then.

We walked around the school for some time while they kept glancing at their watch. Then we finally arrived at a storage room.

"It will be inside this room. You can go first." (Leilane)
