I didn't know when, but it seemed like the rain had stopped.
Jiang Yi's face, buried in her legs, lifted slightly, and she noticed that there were no longer any raindrops falling on her head.
But why was it still raining around her?
Then she raised her head again. Sure enough, there was now a dark umbrella overhead.
The person holding the umbrella was familiar; it was the good comrade "Xiao Han" who had helped her out today at the 4S shop.
Wen Suihan looked down at Jiang Yi's slightly pale face and misty eyes.
He asked, "What are you doing here?"
Seeing a familiar person, Jiang Yi couldn't help feeling like crying again. For some reason, a man she wasn't very close to had time and time again given her an unprecedented sense of safety.
Jiang Yi pouted, and with a woeful tone, said, "Would you believe me if I said I just wanted to eat Crab Yellow Pastry?"
Wen Suihan remained silent.
Then, he extended his hand, intending to pull Jiang Yi, who was squatting on the ground, back up.
He gripped Jiang Yi's wrist and said, "Don't cry, get up."
Jiang Yi, uncharacteristically obedient to a stranger, nodded obediently and, using the strength of Wen Suihan's arm, shakily got to her feet.
Only, she overestimated the strength of her legs. Before she could straighten up, she suddenly found that they wouldn't obey her.
She had been squatting for so long that both legs were almost completely numb.
At the same time she lost her balance, an arm wrapped around her waist.
Wen Suihan had anticipated the direction of her fall. Letting go of her hand, he looped his arm around her waist and gently drew her in, allowing Jiang Yi to crash into his embrace.
The sudden contact startled them both.
Fortunately, Wen Suihan didn't let go, even though their posture was quite intimate. To stabilize Jiang Yi, he insisted on holding her this way.
Jiang Yi, in surprise, lifted her head and gazed at Wen Suihan's face from a close distance.
Wen Suihan's eyelashes were long, drooping slightly as he looked at her.
His features were too perfect; deep-set eyes accentuated by the arch of his eyebrows, a tall nose, and lips that were just the right shade of thin.
Staring at his lips, Jiang Yi thought dizzily, what would it feel like to kiss such thin lips?
Wen Suihan hadn't noticed Jiang Yi's racing thoughts, nor had he intentionally avoided her gaze. He knew she was unabashedly staring at his lips, but he couldn't guess what was going through her mind at the moment.
The alcohol numbed Jiang Yi's brain, and she couldn't help but wrap her arms around Wen Suihan's neck, drawing his face closer and tenderly pecking his cheek.
Then, like a child who had successfully stolen a treat, she giggled and said, "Uncle Xiao Han, I just realized... you're so handsome. If I weren't going to be Wen Suihan's wife, I would definitely fall in love with you..."
After saying this, she tightened the arm she had around Wen Suihan's neck, wanting to hold him even closer.
Wen Suihan was stunned by Jiang Yi's behavior.
It was less that she had kissed him and more like a mischievous cat that brushed its tail against his face before irresponsibly slinking away, so lightly it was as if it had never been there.
"You're going to be Wen Suihan's wife? Does he know?" Wen Suihan's voice was very low.
Jiang Yi, drunk and dizzy, shook her head like a rattle-drum and put a finger to her lips, saying, "Shush, he doesn't know. It's a secret between us two, and you mustn't tell anyone."
Hearing Jiang Yi's words, Wen Suihan's lips were already curving upwards.
He readily agreed, "Alright, I'll keep your secret. But now, you need to go home."
