You killed him?

Luciana decided to take a stroll around outside the castle. She spent her day reading. With Raziel's permission, she brought some of the books into her new room.

She expected that princess Evelyn would move her out of the prince's quarters after the wedding, but she didn't bother to leave. The prince hadn't asked her to leave anyway. Now she heard that Raziel abandoned Evelyn, she couldn't help but find the situation funny. The prince was something else. And she believed that it served the spoilt and pompous princess right.

Luciana didn't realize how far she had walked until she heard a high pitched scream from afar. She had taken some of the arrows she experimented on with her just in case the need might arise. She wondered if she was going to use them that evening. But then she heard the scream again, this time even louder.

It was coming from a girl, and it was a distressed cry. She wondered what was happening to her.

Luciana quickly traced the voice, until she came to an area of small houses. The scream was coming from one of the houses. She carefully walked towards it, her bow and arrow ready to be used.

The screaming intensified, and this time she could hear pleas. What was happening?

When she followed it, she came to one of the buildings with open front. And there she saw a girl, surrounded by five men, of which one had his fangs sunk into her shoulder. From the look of it, the man who was obviously a vampire was not been careful, as the girl seemed to be in pain. She also noticed blood in the mouth of two of the men standing there. Those ones must have had their fill. Did they plan to kill her?

Without delay, Luciana set three arrows in her bow, and aimed at three of them standing close together. They were so focused on drying up the girl that they didn't notice her, even with their vampiric senses.

She was almost distracted when she saw one of the men look at the girl lustfully, and his hand came to rest on her waist. The girl looked at him fearfully, and her body quivered.

Luciana let go of the arrow, and the three men fell to the ground at once, surprising the others. They looked towards her direction, but she was already aiming at them again. Before they could rush to attack her, she shot at them and they both fell down. She quickly rushed to the girl who had fallen to the ground. It was obvious she was human, and perhaps that was why no one came to her rescue.

The girl's vision blurred, and the world around her began to fade. She tried to keep her eyes open to look at her rescuer, but she couldn't.

"Thank you." She muttered, before losing consciousness.

Luciana didn't know what to do with her, or with the dead bodies surrounding her. She tried to lift the girl, but she wasn't strong enough. And if she left her there, the girl would die.

Thinking fast, Luciana left to get some herbs that she knew would help her, before thinking of a better solution. She arrived quickly, and began to apply the herbs to her wounds.

"Hey!" A masculine voice startled her. "Who are you and what have you done?"

Luciana turned around to see a man, whose eyes were red in anger, as he looked at the dead bodies surrounding him.

"Who did this to them?"

"They were harming a girl who did them no wrong, and karma came their way." Luciana replied, without any regret on what she had done.

"I asked who did this?" The man looked around, probably searching for the person that brought down the vampires. He saw Luciana, but he doubted she could do such. She looked like she could easily be broken in two.

"I don't know. Some men. They had their faces covered, and they ran in that direction." Luciana quickly lied pointing behind her, wanting the leave so she could help the girl.

But instead of the man to leave, he began to approach her. "You called them. Didn't you?"

"No I didn't. I was only trying to help this girl here." She quickly said, her expression neutral, even though she was a bit worried.

She saw the man's fangs elongated, and she wondered what she would do. Her arrows were not close to her, as she had kept it to help the girl. The man wasn't giving her time to think.

"I think you should rather go after the men that killed your people. They couldn't have gone far as they are humans." She lied again with a straight face, hoping he would leave.

The man paused at what she said for a moment, before proceeding towards her.

"I should probably kill the both of you first, then go after them." The man couldn't deny that he was surprised at how calm the human was. She was supposed to be begging at that moment. That's what they all do.

Just as the man took another step, Luciana heard a strained gasp escape his lips, and then she saw a red patch appear on his stomach. She curiously stared at him.

The man then dropped to the ground, revealing prince Raziel who was standing behind him, leisurely wiping his dagger that had been stained with the man's blood. Luciana stared at him with mouth agape.

"Your highness?"

"You really are a magnet for trouble Luciana." He stated coolly.

"She's dying your highness. Please help her."

Raziel shook his head. He wondered if she realizes that she was the only human who asked favours from him. He then moved to the girl, carried her and zoomed off.

Luciana guessed that he would have taken her to see a physician, or maybe sent someone. She hoped so. She waited for a while, before deciding to go back to the castle. But she only took a few steps, before Raziel came back.

"How is she doing your highness?" Luciana asked him, but he didn't seem to be paying any attention to her. His attention was on the dead bodies still on the ground. How on earth did this single human girl kill them all?

He saw arrows pierced on them, and he knew that she shot them. But how did she do it? They are vampires, and they wouldn't just die from a simple arrow shoot. The wound needed to be severe to kill a vampire. Then this human killed five? Alone?!

"How did you kill them?" Raziel asked in amazement. He would have been shocked that a fragile looking girl like her would have the heart to kill, but he had learnt not to be surprised by anything she did.

"My experiment your highness. It makes them die on tv spot."

Raziel stared at her. She was really interesting, and very talented too. If his father should find out about that, Raziel knew that she would be anything but safe, as he would want to use her for his benefits.

"Did you know how useful your experiment can be? No vampire dies at one simple shot." Raziel said with fascination in his voice. He always knew the girl was interesting.

"I know your highness. I could make money by working for a nobility, producing these." She gave him one of those her smiles that never reaches her eyes. "These would be destructive in a war." She told him seriously.

"I know. You should be careful Luciana. You shouldn't let anyone find out about this." He seriously warned her. "You could be in danger."

"But you know about it. I am not in danger with you?" She asked as she stared at his face. Raziel wondered if she was studying his face, or maybe his expression. She always seemed to be studying something.

"No."

She nodded. "Why are you kind to me your highness?"

She had thought about it, and she had at first came up with an excuse. Maybe he found her interesting because of her odd personality, but now she was beginning to feel that he was just kind to her. He even gave her a room in his quarters to protect her.

"I don't know. You just got lucky." He shrugged. "But you surely are an interesting one."

Luciana stared at him for a while, before saying. "You remind me of someone."

Raziel looked curious. "Who?"

"Elric Wright, the duke of Wesborne."

"Duke Elric? I think I have met him a few times." He then then turned to her. "You know the duke?"

"I used to live in wesborne before I was taken away. He was a noble man, but he was kind. Very kind." She smiled faintly. She knew the duke was interested in her, and if she wasn't so focused on her family and studies, maybe she would have given him a chance. And unlike most rich people that only wanted women for their pleasure, the duke respected her. He always took her opinions into consideration, and was interested in things she does.

"I am not kind." Raziel said.

"I know. But no vampire had ever been this kind to me before, just as no noble had ever been as kind as Duke Elric was to me." She wondered if he had looked for her. Perhaps he would think that her family moved away.

Raziel nodded. "You know you could get in trouble for killing these vampires if you were caught."

"Yes. But I needed to help the girl."

"So you do care." He smiled.

"Sometimes."

After a while, some vampires arrived there with shovels.

"Your highness." They bowed before the prince. Luciana guessed he must have told them to come when he took the girl to see the physician.

Raziel took one of the shovels and gave it to Luciana, and she looked at it confused.

"What am I going to do with this?"

"You killed these them, so you should bury them. Have you ever dug a grave?" He asked, and she saw a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Digging a grave? That could be fun.
