Saki Yoshida

[3rd POV]

Stupid.

So stupid.

What was the use of hanging around with a bunch of friends and acting like monkeys anyways? Why are they so carefree? Aren't they worried about the upcoming final exams?

Or do they have no plan to study for the entrace exams of the best highschools?

Why are they like that? Why do they laugh so loud in public? Why are they so happy and cheerful?

While she was stading here in the corner with a bitter heart.

Stupid.

So stupid.

.

..

.

She was so stupid.

At the beginning of the year, they had invited her too, to hang out with them. But she always rejected them, fearing that they would look down on her if she joined them or that she would ruin everything for others.

But maybe she should've been more selfish and just gone along with them, maybe then she would not have been alone for all these years.

Why was she always so scared? Why was she always so dumb? Why was she not enough?

Saki did not like being alone.

At home, she was more like a guest than a resident as her stepfather had never shown her a welcoming smile or treated her like a family.

And Saki had not completely forgiven her mother for remarrying so soon right after her father death. So her relationship with her mother was not the best.

Her home was not warm. No one talked to her and she spent most of her time cooped up in her room.

And then at school, it was the same. She had no friends, not even acquaintances that would greet her in the morning.

Even though she wanted friends, even though she hated to be alone, no one approached her and something always went wrong when she tried to get included.

She could feel that she did not belong there.

She looked at her reflection in the window pane of the shop before turning away and looking at the ground.

She was...so ugly.

She had no style at all like the other girls had and her smile was awkward and unlovely. Her clothes were always baggy due to her stepfather only willing to spend the bare minimum for a daughter who was not his own.

Yeah, she did not belong with them.

Even as she looked at them hanging around and ignoring her existence, it felt like they were in a different dimension.

Even though they were a few feet away, the distance felt like lightyears. It was out of her reach, that life was not for her. She couldn't have it.

As she stood there and watched, her ears caught some of the girls talking about her. Calling her creepy for standing and looking at them.

"What is she doing? It's kinda creepy how she just stand there."

"Can't she just go away?"

"Just ignore her."

Well, that was her cue to leave. Although she liked looking at them and imagining a scenario where she was with them and fit in, she couldn't stay there forever.

But as she was about to eave, an unknown man approached her. He had beautiful purple hair and was extremely tall.

No, he was not a man but a student. He was from Itan Private highschool too, she recognize the uniform as it was the highschool she was aiming for.

Saki felt like she knew him from somewhere but the mask was throwing her off a bit.

The boy stood right next to her, their shoulders mere inches apart as Saki was left to wonder if it was natural for a stranger to be this close.

But the next thing she knew, she looked down in shame.

'He smells so good!!!'

Saki felt like a pervert for thinking that and was ashamed. Did all boys smell this good? She wouldn't know because no boy had ever been this close to her.

And the next thing she knew, the mysterious boy who smelled really good was handing her an ice cream.

Now, Saki was not the brightest girl and was not taught stranger danger when she was a kid. Hence why she was easily taken advantage of in the original doujin.

Besides, Saki was submissive andwpuld rather go along with other's will than denying or standing up for herself. She did not even know how to do that to begin with, so she just took the ice cream.

She was not sure if he gave it to her though, so she did not eat it. He could just be asking her to hold it for him, that would be awkward.

But even after a few moment of silence, he did not ask it back so she assumed he gave it to her.

"umm..Thank you." She said.

"What's your name?" The boy asked her, his voice was soft but it held a commanding edge that made her nervous and answer immediately.

Besides, he was older than him. It was good to obey and respect your elders right?

"Saki. Saki Yoshida." She said.

Then there was an awkward silence that was long enough for Saki to review every insecurity she had. Was her hair messy? Did she smell bad? What should she say next? Is her ear dirty? etc.

But then, he suddenly said something which stopped her brain for a minute.

"You are beautiful."

..

..

Wow.

Just wow. No one have ever told her that before.

Maybe that's why it took her longer than normal to process his words. And then, myraids of emotions flooded her heart.

'H-He called me beautiful?!'

And he said it so naturally too, as if commenting about the weather. As if he had not just blown away her entire world with that sentence.

She did not even know how much she needed to hear that sentence until she heard it. He really called her beautiful, it was the first time anyone called her beautiful.

Her lips curved into a smile,

'No!! M-my smile is ugly. He would take back his words if he saw me smile.' she thought and hid her face from him.

"Have no one ever told you that before? You seem surprised." He said. He really said that.

Are you kidding? What part of her scream beautiful? You are the weird one for finding someone like her beautiful.

"Uum, no."

"Really? I assumed you get that a lot since you are so cute." He said and from the corner of her eyes, she saw him smile.

It was beautiful, unlike her awkward smile. His smile could shine through the mask he was wearing.

Her heart was like a machinegun, it beats rapidly and loudly inside her chest. She could feel her chest cavity being filled with butterflies.

What was this feeling? It feels so good.

Her body became warm, starting from her face and it goes on until the tip of her feet. She was starting to sweat even though it was winter.

"Me? cute?"

At one point she was not aware of where she was.

She was transported in a different dimension, a world where it was only her and the mysterious boy whose face she had yet to see and was  yet to be named.

"Hey, if you don't mind, can I get your number? Or maybe your IG?" He asked, his voice was gentle and his smile gentlier.

What?! Is this what she thought it was?

Was he hitting on her? Is this what they call 'being picked up'? Was h-he flirting?

With her?!

"ha!I-I don't have an IG account." She said, she hated how she stuttered but the beating of her heart was shaking her body.

"Your number it is then." The boy said and as she hurriedly took out her phone, still unable to belive the situation she was in, he took her phone.

"Here, let me."

She did not even protest or stood up for herself. She did not know how to. Even though she would very much like to do so since she was embarrassed he would laugh at her contacts which only had three people.

Saki was a weak and vulnerable girl. It was why her boyfriend was easily able to take advantage of her and even force her to prostitution. She did not know how to say no to others, especially someone she thought of as special.

But luckily, the boy did not laugh at her and gave back her phone. He even sent her a message and thank her for giving him the number.

"Well, I'll see you around." And with that, the boy ran off. Disappearing as randomly as he appeared to her.

"Oh and nice choice with Rikka's thighs." He also commented, leaving her to be embarrassed.

"Wait!! I didn't even get your name!!" She shout at him but he was far long gone. He ran really fast, Saki noted.

As she watched him disappear from her sight, she couldn't help but feel a void in her heart. With his absence, her heart had calmed down and the intense feeling she had, died down.

It felt wrong. She already believed with all her heart that she should always be with him.

Always.

But there was nothing she could do. She sighed and looked at her phone and at the message.

But then something caught her eyes, it was the number he gave her, He had saved his number with his name on it.

Saki read the name aloud immediately.

"Yuito Fujita."

..

..

"Oh."

The missing face under his mask became visible in her memory.
