Chapter 185: Loki's Arrival in Reality, Crying in a Recorded Scene

"Hey, Gwen, you're okay. Hang in there, hang in there, hang in there," Peter Parker caressed Gwen Stacy's face, tears streaming down.

The video ended with Peter Parker's crying.

"This ending is too sad," Natasha Romanoff couldn't help but comment. "To watch the beloved girl die in front of one's eyes, it's truly unbearable."

"What happened to Spider-Man from World 6 should serve as a lesson for everyone," Nick Fury scanned the group and said solemnly. "Everyone present, just like Spider-Man from World 6, is a superhero. Such a tragedy could happen to any one of us."

"Scott is right," Steve Rogers said. "In the future, whenever any of you face such a situation, immediately seek help from us, your comrades. If Spider-Man from World 6 wasn't isolated, this tragedy might not have occurred."

"This little Green Goblin seemed to be Peter's friend, and he should have been friends with Gwen Stacy too. Their relationship should have been good, but he turned dark later due to some reason," Clint Barton said.

"He probably sought help from Spider-Man, but Spider-Man didn't help him and chose to reject him. Later, he found out that Spider-Man was his good friend Peter Parker, which made him feel betrayed," Natasha Romanoff added.

"Little Green Goblin is a good friend, and that Electro guy seems to know Peter too," T'Challa chimed in. "Spider-Man from World 6 is really unlucky. Even the villains are his friends."

[This round of questioning is over, prepare for return.]

In an instant, the group of superheroes vanished, leaving only Li Cheng.

"It seems like every Spider-Man's girlfriend has a falling scene. Is this the inevitable fate of Spider-Man's girlfriends?" Li Cheng suddenly thought. Not only did the Garfield version of Spider-Man's girlfriend have a falling scene, but it seemed like the Tobey Maguire version also had one. However, in Tobey's version, he successfully saved Mary Jane, whereas in Garfield's version, he couldn't save Gwen.

So, the question arises: Will Holland's version of Spider-Man also face the falling of his girlfriend one day?

If that day comes, can Holland Spider-Man save MJ?

[Questioning complete, rewards distributed.]

[Host gains Wolverine's Healing Factor.]

[Host gains Quicksilver Pietro Maximoff's Super Speed.]

"Quicksilver's Super Speed?" Li Cheng immediately ran a few steps to test it, his body turning into a gust of wind that disappeared on the spot.

Then, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Fortunately, it's the Age of Apocalypse version of Quicksilver, not the one from the Avengers who got shot."

[Reminder!]

[System upgrade initiated, temporary unavailability during upgrade.]

Just as he was savoring the super speed, a prompt suddenly appeared, indicating that the system was undergoing an upgrade.

"Oh? Upgrading?" Li Cheng was quite excited. He wondered what changes the system would undergo after the upgrade.

...

"Tony? Tony!" Pepper Potts's complaining voice reached Tony Stark's ears. "Are you even listening to me?"

"Is it over? I'm back?" Tony Stark turned to look, and indeed, this was no longer the eerie black space but his own wedding scene.

"Is it over? The wedding has just started, and you're already hoping for it to end?" Pepper Potts was so angry at his words that she wanted to storm off, but seeing so many celebrities and dignitaries at the scene, she decided to save face for Tony Stark.

"Pepper, you misunderstood. I wasn't talking about our wedding ending. I was talking about something else," Tony Stark explained.

"So you're telling me that while marrying me, your mind was still on something else?" Pepper Potts asked directly.

"..." Tony Stark was utterly speechless. "No! I wasn't! I swear, my mind was all on you, my eyes were all on you, my entire being was focused on you."

"Oh, really?" Pepper Potts cut to the chase, "I called you a few times just now, right?"

"..." Tony Stark was speechless. Why would anyone care about such boring numbers?

"Tony! What are you standing around for?" Fortunately, James Rhodes came to the rescue at a critical moment. "Everyone is waiting for you. Don't you want to greet the beautiful bride?"

"I'm coming." Tony Stark grabbed Pepper Potts and followed James Rhodes.

This wedding was a rare moment of relaxation for Tony Stark. Afterward, he immersed himself in intense research and tirelessly developed new suits day and night.

Wakanda, a "hidden paradise" that had little connection with Tony Stark, became frequented by him. Working together with Sue Rui, they set up several production lines for suits in Wakanda, aiming to produce enough Iron Soldiers before Loki's arrival.

As for the development and research of other "gadgets," if it was something that Tony Stark couldn't personally handle, it was all delegated to Sue Rui.

Steve Rogers, in addition to occasionally accepting tasks from Nick Fury to solve some tricky problems, focused on honing his combat skills.

Thor, though in Asgard, hadn't forgotten Loki's invasion of Earth or the imminent threat of Thanos. Besides overseeing the restoration of the Rainbow Bridge, he also dedicated time to practicing the Runes of Reginn.

Stephen Strange, the top-tier doctor, had set his sights on becoming Doctor Strange ever since he learned about his future identity and the impending enemies Earth would face. He drastically reduced his workload, turned down numerous patients, and spent more time seeking opportunities to become Doctor Strange.

In this endeavor, Nick Fury was even more devoted than Stephen Strange, deploying a large number of agents to search for hidden sorcerers on Earth.

Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff, the "elite assassins," weren't idle either. They were tirelessly practicing and training, having gained new abilities and equipment through several rounds of questioning. They had even injected themselves with the Extremis virus, becoming super soldiers.

With new bodies, new abilities, and new equipment, a lot of practice was needed to fully harness their potential.

Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff, the sibling duo, were also diligently training. Although their abilities were strong, they had just obtained them and needed refinement.

Especially Pietro Maximoff, having witnessed his own death by bullets and seeing the incredible feats of the Quicksilver from the Age of Apocalypse next door, he was greatly inspired and practiced tirelessly.

Scott Lang, the future second-generation Ant-Man, had acquired an Ant-Man suit as well and was training rigorously.

Rather than advancing the original storyline prematurely, Nick Fury had personally visited Hank Pym. It was unclear what means he used, but he managed to provide Scott Lang with a suit.

Almost everyone who knew of Loki's imminent arrival was busy preparing.

Nearly every person aware of Loki's impending arrival was bustling with activity.

Except for one person.

Li Cheng.

He ate, drank, and relaxed as he pleased.

Time passed quickly in this tense and busy atmosphere. In the blink of an eye, over half a year had gone by.

On this day, amid the darkness of night, a rainbow-colored light suddenly appeared, descending near Tony Stark's incredibly luxurious seaside villa.

Many citizens who witnessed this scene believed it to be some astronomical phenomenon and excitedly discussed it. Little did they know, a figure draped in a red cape had appeared at Tony Stark's house.

In the night breeze, Thor's red cape fluttered, giving him a majestic appearance.

"Mr. Thor, good evening. Mr. Stark has been waiting for you for quite some time," Jarvis's voice sounded as soon as he entered.

"Hi, hello Jarvis," Thor grinned. After such a long time, the Rainbow Bridge was finally repaired. He could finally come to Earth and see these old friends.

"You are... Thor?" Pepper Potts approached, scrutinizing Thor from head to toe. "The god from Asgard?"

"Hey, Pepper, greetings. It's a pleasure to see you. First, congratulations on your marriage. I know this congratulations is a bit late, but the Rainbow Bridge wasn't repaired when you got married, so I couldn't come down." Thor rambled on for a while before coming back to reality. "Stark told you already?"

"To be honest, it took me a long time to convince myself to believe in Tony." Pepper Potts turned to walk inside. "I'll go get Tony."

"Hey, Thor! Why did you take so long to arrive?" Before Pepper Potts could call him, Tony Stark's figure appeared in the living room. Thor had just arrived, and Jarvis promptly notified him. There was no need to go and call him.

"It's not too late to come, right?" Thor laughed heartily and gave Tony Stark a hug.

"That's right, as long as you arrived before Loki, it's not considered late." Tony Stark and Thor warmly embraced each other, making Pepper Potts a little jealous on the side. "I've never seen you so excited before!"

"Considering the time, it's about time to call everyone over." After exchanging pleasantries with Thor, Tony Stark spread the news of Thor's arrival.

As a result, Tony Stark's mansion instantly became bustling with activity. Captain America Steve Rogers, Hulk Bruce Banner, Hawkeye Clint Barton, Black Widow Natasha Romanoff, Doctor Strange Stephen Strange, Quicksilver Pietro Maximoff, Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff, and many other superheroes gathered together.

Of course, young Spider-Man Peter Parker wasn't present. He was still too young, and at this stage, his only mission was to grow up.

"Strange, are you already Doctor Strange?" Thor couldn't help but ask when he saw Stephen Strange.

"Unfortunately, not yet," Stephen Strange replied.

"In that case, why not take a trip to other cities for a vacation?" Nick Fury suggested from the couch. "Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago, or even abroad. Anywhere except New York."

"Fury, are you telling me to run away?" Stephen Strange furrowed his brows.

"Not 'run away,' that sounds harsh. If it were me, I'd use the term 'strategic retreat,'" Nick Fury shrugged off Stephen Strange's unimpressed expression. "Strange, even though you'll be powerful in the future, you're just an ordinary person now. You won't be of any help in the upcoming battle in New York, and you'll need our care. You should be well aware of that, right?"

"I'm a doctor. I can save people!" Stephen Strange argued.

"You can still save people outside of New York. Saving lives isn't limited to a specific place. Why insist on saving New Yorkers?" Nick Fury countered.

"I..."

"Magician, I think Egghead is right. You should lay low for now," Stephen Strange was about to speak again but was interrupted by Tony Stark.

"You want me to hide?" Stephen Strange pointed at Nick Fury. "He's just an ordinary person too, right? Is he hiding as well?"

He then pointed at Phil Coulson. "Is he hiding too?"

"Strange, you and I are different," Phil Coulson smiled. "I'm just a small fry, insignificant. If I die, it's no big deal. But you, you're Doctor Strange. If something happens to you, who will stop the dimensional deity Dormammu? You can't take any risks."

"Yes, Strange, that's why I'm suggesting you lay low," Nick Fury chimed in. "Dormammu is too powerful, a being none of us can handle. Aside from using time loops to repel him, there doesn't seem to be any other way. So, if something happens to you, who will stop Dormammu's arrival?"

"Think about Dormammu," Steve Rogers added. "If something happens to you today that prevents you from stopping Dormammu in the future, how many people will die as a result?"

"Damn it!" Stephen Strange imagined the scenario with Dormammu and reluctantly agreed.

"Take that kid Peter with you as well," Tony Stark suddenly spoke up. "Alien invasions are unpredictable. Who knows if any accidents might happen?"

"I don't want to be a babysitter!" Stephen Strange reflexively rejected the idea.

"You can take a babysitter with you," Tony Stark suggested.

"I'm supposed to take a babysitter with me?" Stephen Strange's voice raised a few decibels.

"Your colleague Christine from the hospital seems nice. You can tell her you have a child to take care of and ask her to come with you. It'll keep her away from the New York battle and also create an opportunity for you to spend time together."

"That doesn't sound too bad," Stephen Strange admitted.

"Tony, which version of the suit are you up to in your development?" Steve Rogers suddenly asked.

"The latest suit I'm working on is based on the Mark 42 design, a step beyond the Mark 42. I'm calling it the Mark 43 for now. The Mark 43 utilizes nanotechnology and is undoubtedly more powerful than the Mark 42 shown in the video, but it still hasn't reached the level needed for the major battle against Thanos," Tony Stark explained the progress of the suit.

"What's lacking compared to the suit during the Thanos battle?" Thor inquired.

"The Mark 43 can already achieve partial suit transformation. It can fully execute the transformation and hand-to-hand combat against Thanos just like during the Battle of New York. However, there's still a gap in terms of energy collection and utilization," Tony Stark revealed the weaknesses of his suit. "At the time of the battle on Nidavellir, when we fired energy attacks, that's something we can't do yet. Mainly, T'Challa provided some Vibranium, and I spent quite some time incorporating Vibranium into the suit."

"Vibranium War Armor." James Rhodes slapped Tony Stark on the shoulder. "Tony, this suit of yours can be called the battle armor among battle armors. Now, if Thanos tries to smash your armor like before, it should be impossible."

"What about the Iron Legion?" Steve Rogers asked. "How many Iron Soldiers have you built?"

"We've been working day and night and have only manufactured 500 units." Su Rui sat there, sipping coffee. "Although it's not many, it should still have some impact."

"More than just some impact," Nick Fury chimed in. "In a large-scale battlefield like this, the impact of these 500 Iron Soldiers surpasses any single superhero. Well done, young lady!"

"With J.A.R.V.I.S.'s computing power, can he command 500 Iron Soldiers simultaneously?" Steve Rogers inquired again.

"No problem at all," Tony Stark said. He then turned his gaze to Pietro Maximoff. "Pietro, after this period of training, has your speed improved? Can you dodge bullets?"

"My speed has always been faster than bullets!" Even after half a year, Pietro Maximoff was still highly sensitive to the word 'bullets.' "Bullets absolutely can't kill me!"

"Are you sure?" Clint Barton countered.

"Soo designed a suit for me, a Vibranium suit," Pietro Maximoff said somewhat annoyed. "So, I'm quite sure, bullets can't kill me!"

"What about your speed? How much has it improved?" Tony Stark asked again.

"It has improved somewhat, but not by much. There's still a significant gap between me and the other me," Pietro Maximoff extended his hand, and a shiny black dagger formed in his palm. "But Su also gave me this. It should compensate for the lack of speed."

"True, with this blade, Pietro is like the Grim Reaper to those Chitauri aliens," Stephen Strange remarked. "Who could withstand a slash from Pietro?"

"Super speed combined with a blade, that's more like it," James Rhodes couldn't help but comment. "I really don't understand why Pietro in the video chose to use his fists. Yes, it's true that punches pack a lot of power at his speed, but wouldn't a blade be even more effective?"

"Vibranium suit + super speed. As long as he's not intentionally seeking death, the tragic sacrifice of Pietro is almost impossible to repeat," Tony Stark nodded. He then turned to Wanda Maximoff. "Wanda, what about you? How's your power development coming along?"

"I've progressed a bit beyond what's shown in the video, but the improvement is limited," Wanda Maximoff said. "However, tearing apart a dozen aliens at once, I think I can still manage that."

"For the short time you've had your powers, reaching this level is already impressive," Nick Fury said.

This time, everyone gathered together not only to understand each other's situations but also to discuss how to deal with Loki and the alien invasion.

Their ideas were unanimous: capture the thief before capturing the king!

The Chitauri aliens were brought to Earth by Loki. If Loki is dealt with, the Battle of New York can be nipped in the bud.

How to capture Loki?

It's simple.

Two words.

Lay in wait!

After all, Loki will come to claim the Tesseract. Just wait by the Tesseract, and when Loki arrives, capture him directly. Isn't that perfect?

As a result, some of the superheroes moved directly to the underground base where the Tesseract was stored and took turns guarding it 24/7.

The rest of the heroes were stationed at various locations in New York to prevent any changes to the timeline.

What if Loki managed to get to the city through other means?

Of course, that possibility was very slim.

But Loki was the one who triggered the Battle of New York, and it wouldn't hurt to be cautious.

The most powerful superheroes were stationed in the underground base to lay in wait for Loki: Thor, Captain America Steve Rogers, Iron Man Tony Stark, Hulk Bruce Banner, and in addition, Quicksilver Pietro Maximoff.

Having Quicksilver stay here is mainly due to his speed. In case of any accidents, if the Tesseract falls into Loki's hands, Quicksilver's speed should allow him to immediately reclaim it.

Or, in other words, if any unexpected emergencies arise, he can also use the Tesseract to escape immediately.

In any case, the high maneuverability of super speed makes it the best remedy for any problems.

"Thor, if Loki really shows up, I think I won't be able to resist giving him a good scolding. I hope you won't interfere," Tony Stark said to Thor one day.

"As long as you don't kill him," Thor replied.

"You didn't refuse?" Steve Rogers, sitting on the side, said in surprise. "I thought you would say something like 'Who dares to touch my brother, I'll take them on.'"

"Come on, Captain, am I the kind of person who only cares about protecting my brother without asking for reasons?" Thor said.

  "Aren't you?" Bruce Banner retorted.

Suddenly, a dazzling light burst forth. Everyone turned to look and saw the Tesseract glowing, followed by a spatial portal slowly forming.

"Loki finally decided to show up!" Thor sighed, extending his hand as his hammer flew to him and he caught it.

"I've been waiting for this day for quite a while," Tony Stark extended his hands towards the portal, ready to fire the repulsor beams from his palms at any moment.

"Guys? Do I need to transform?" Bruce Banner stood up.

"Not yet," Steve Rogers said, "I think the few of us can handle Loki."

"No, I think we need the Hulk," Tony Stark said with a bright smile on his face, seemingly thinking of something. "Loki's here, and we need the Hulk to give him a proper 'welcome'!"

At this moment, a figure dressed in a green robe and sporting a large head of hair walked through the portal.
