Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
Bolts of thunder struck above, creating ripples, as if a stone had sunk into the ocean!
"Remember, I'm not cooperating with you, I just don't want to hinder the Dragon Slayer Alliance's affairs," Terramai retorted at the end.
In the art of defensive magic, Terramai is obviously more adept than Karacule.
But how can human power compare with nature?
"This thunderstorm is really bizarre," Barnac commented. He has traveled for decades and has never encountered such a situation.
More and more lightning struck the ship directly, as if the ship had a lightning rod, attracting extra attention from the lightning.
"Don't worry, I'm here."
Lin Yi could tell that Liya was a bit scared and softly comforted her.
Although he doesn't know magic, he has many means, and can at least ensure safety.
"Hmm." Maybe because she was too nervous, out of the blue, Liya responded softly. Nerwin, no longer as tense as before, just smiled at the two without saying anything.
Perhaps that's just how young people are.
Nerwin recognized Lin Yi's strength. If he could really become a good match for Liya, it would be beneficial for the elves.
As the 19th Elf Princess, Nerwin's perspective is more on the side of the race.
Boom!
"Everyone, prepare to abandon ship! I can't hold on much longer!" After blocking several lightning attacks in a row, Terramai was starting to falter. The ripples created by the thunder on the barrier grew larger and the whole barrier began to tremble.
"How can this be? This is my ship, I will never leave it." Before anyone else could speak, Barnac loudly refused. What a joke, if such a large ship is destroyed, how much would he lose?
"Barnac, this isn't the time to worry about money. If Terramai can't hold on, what we might lose could be more than just the ship!" Geraint shouted.
Boom!
Suddenly, a thunderous sound overshadowed Geraint's roar, even louder than all previous thunders. It was as if someone was banging a heavy drum right next to your ear. In the dim sky, a dazzling lightning bolt flashed by.
The thick lightning bolt struck the barrier directly.
The water-like barrier was hit, causing intense ripples to spread. Cracks appeared on the barrier, and blue electric currents leaked out, striking the deck, the cargo, causing sparks and blasting large holes!
Terramai let out a cry and spat out a mouthful of blood, collapsing to the ground.
It was Geraint who quickly caught him.
"Terramai!"
"I'm fine, just out of magical energy. This is all I can do," Terramai struggled to say, sounding weak.
The barrier dissipated, and a fierce wind swept in instantly, causing everyone's figures to tremble sharply.
It seemed as if the heavens wanted to doom them.
Lightning once again gathered in the sky, striking down violently.
"It's over, it's over, my ship is definitely ruined now." Barnac blocked the red lightning aimed at him with his blade and complained.
Moments later, the blue current lingering on the barrier slowly faded, turning the originally light blue barrier almost transparent. Terramai staggered and fell onto the deck with a thud, causing the barrier to disappear.
"Damn it, even the heavens are on the side of the Black Dragon. Are our plans to slay the dragon going to fail before they even start?" Lambert punched the deck in frustration, allowing blood to flow from his fist, as he stared at the distant flashing lightning and spoke resentfully.
Boom!
Bright and dazzling blue lightning streaked across the sky again, targeting Barnac's ship, causing everyone to despair at the sight of the beautiful lightning.
"What a joke!" Suddenly, Lambert stood up, holding his sword towards the horizon, "We are crucial to the dragon-slaying plan, we are key to the continent's fate. How can we fail here!"
Lambert's words acted like a shot of adrenaline, and in the next moment, everyone was filled with fighting spirit again. Lin Yi smirked, thinking how the protagonist always manages to inspire others, boosting team morale.
However, no matter what Lambert said, he seemed to be out of options.
A bolt of lightning struck down from the sky as if mocking him. Thankfully, Lambert was fast enough to narrowly dodge it.
Otherwise, he would probably have been struck dead on the spot.
"Protect the ship as much as possible."
Lin Yi shouted, as another lightning bolt sped towards him.
"Be careful."
The voice of Liya from behind him warned.
However, Lin Yi did not dodge. The Jörmungandr in his hand emerged, and a large amount of kakuhou poured out, blood-red kakuhou tendrils spread out, showcasing the power of Fang Village's virtue.
Feathers extended, forming a barrier, blocking the strike.
The ordeal wasn't over yet.
Lin Yi twisted his wrist and plunged the Jörmungandr into the deck, taking a deep breath. Countless kakuhou tendrils spread out, covering the entire ship like flesh and silk.
Lin Yi couldn't recall how many kakuhou the Jörmungandr had consumed.
The kakuhou stored within it probably outnumbered the 'Dragon' in the Ghoul world.
Under the astonished gazes of everyone, countless kakuhou tendrils spread out, transforming the entire ship into a kakuhou battleship in the blink of an eye.
Though lightning continued to strike the ship, the astonishing regenerative abilities of the scales ensured quick repairs.
The effects were very significant.
"What kind of magic is this..."
Even though Karacule was weak and needed the support of Nerwin to walk, she was still utterly shocked.
She was absolutely certain that the 'magic' Lin Yi was using was something she had never seen before. Not only did the witches not know it, but the priests also couldn't possibly understand it.
It was an entirely new school of magic.
Not just Terramai and others, Geraint, Barnac, Nerwin, all of them were wide-eyed. In their eyes, Lin Yi was known as a ranger. How did he suddenly become a priest or possibly a wizard who could cast advanced magic with a wave of his hand?
Seeing Lin Yi in action, everyone perked up, except for the heavily drained Terramai and Karacule, who were cared for by Nerwin and others.
Geraint and the others all drew their weapons, trying to block the incoming lightning strikes.
"Whoosh!"
The ship flew through the thunderstorm. Under full-speed navigation, it only took about ten minutes, but those minutes felt excruciatingly long.
Everyone seemed to have had a near-death experience.
Gasping for breath.
Lin Yi retracted the kakuhou, and Jörmungandr returned to its blade form. However, he could clearly sense Jörmungandr's dissatisfaction; the consumption this time was too great.
