An Angel's Life (2)

"What makes you say that?" Jun Hao asked.

"Don't play innocent," she said. "You know the answer to that. The moment I leave, I'm also going to lose my life."

Then, she looked down at her shackled wrists. "And I can't even escape!" she exclaimed.

Jun Hao chuckled, causing Angel to glare at him.

"You find this funny?" she exclaimed.

Jun Hao stopped laughing and covered his mouth before shaking his head.

"No, I just find it amusing," he chimed.

"Isn't that the same thing?" she muttered.

"Don't you find it amusing?" he asked. "Two souls like us have different stories but the same fates—we signed up our entire lives for this kind of life, and we can't even escape."

There was silence in the room before Jun Hao heard Angel sniff.

His eyebrows raised in surprise as he looked at the now-crying girl.
