Chapter 13

"I'm really stupid. I'm a soldier, and my marriage is a military marriage. Military marriages are protected by law. Even if we want to divorce, the leadership has to intervene and mediate. It's only when it's irreparable that they'll stamp the papers," William exclaimed.

"The key is that the mediation process is quite long, isn't it?"

"Exactly, if I insist on not divorcing, they'll keep working on it, advocating reconciliation rather than divorce. Damn, I'm really stupid. I was even thinking of asking my grandfather for help. I was prepared to bribe a psychic to pretend to channel my grandfather."

It's said that two heads are better than one. Having a friend to brainstorm with really makes a difference. They clinked their glasses and downed a large drink. After wiping their mouths, they saw a glimmer of hope.

"Like this, buddy, I'll go ask my leaders, from the army and the National Security Bureau. Help me find out if there's a third party involved in Brian's life. Brian is a stubborn person. If there isn't a third wheel, he wouldn't take the initiative to propose a divorce. I'm afraid someone else is influencing him, that's why he decided to divorce. As long as there's no third party, I'll persuade him, and I'll make things right."

Full of confidence, he said, "Alright."

William grinned. Divorce? Dream on. If I don't divorce, you're still my husband. I'll get you settled no matter what it takes.

"William, I have a suggestion regarding your marriage. Given the high divorce rate these days, marriage counseling has become quite common. Anyone facing marital issues can seek help from a marriage counselor. Brian is contemplating divorce, and if this thought has deeply taken root and is causing constant arguments and chaos, it won't be beneficial. Why don't you both consult a marriage counselor? It could help you understand how to coexist harmoniously and cultivate a happy marriage."

"I think that's a good idea."

Although they've been married for three years, they're just starting now. To avoid future quarrels and cracks, even though these problems have already appeared, if the marriage is saved, they need to plan for the long term. A marriage counselor is worth having.

Brian stayed in the old house for one night. The next day, he changed his clothes and took all the luggage left in the house. No matter how much the elders tried to stop him, he took his belongings. After work today, he would return to the house they bought when they got married and move his things out.

Strangely, William hadn't returned since he left yesterday. It seemed like he was also prepared to give up?

Brian furrowed his brows. Would William give up so easily? If he gave up, the plan would have to change.

Just as he was thinking, his secretary came in to report that William's mother was here to see him, accompanied by two men in military uniforms and one in a suit. One of them was even a major general.

Brian nodded, asking them to come in.

He stood up and adjusted his suit, smiling.

He knew William wouldn't give up easily. Everything was going as planned.

As the door opened, the major general came in, followed by the elderly man in a suit, with William trailing behind them, along with a security guard.

The major general, dressed in a crisp military uniform with gleaming gold decorations on his shoulders, had slightly silvered hair and a modest paunch typical of his rank. The elderly man in the suit also had a friendly smile on his face.

"This is my military leader, Major General Liu from the military region. This is Director Gu from the National Security Bureau. Major General, Director, this is my husband, Brian Liu," William introduced, standing next to Brian. He looked at his leaders with some pride.

"Nice to meet you, Brian. You're quite an impressive young businessman," Major General Liu said.

"Welcome, leaders. Please, make yourselves comfortable." Brian responded, guiding them to the sofas in the reception area as his secretary served tea and snacks.

Major General Liu and Director Gu took in the grandeur of the office. It was over a hundred square meters, with three computers, tasteful decor, bookshelves, filing cabinets, a large fish tank, and various porcelain ornaments.

They then turned their attention to Brian, who was dressed in a suit, polite and smiling lightly without any flattery.

Their eyes landed on William, who had intentionally positioned himself next to Brian.

They chuckled, fully aware that William wasn't one to back down easily. They felt assured that everything was under control.
