Standing in the middle of the crossfire

"Yes."

Heaven took a deep breath and closed her eyes at Mrs. Deng's answer. Bear's expression, on the other hand, turned dark while Axel only furrowed his brows at the sudden shift of mood in the lobby.

'I knew it,' she thought, reopening her eyes slowly.

Bear and Heaven didn't care about ninety percent of what Mrs. Deng confessed. For them, it didn't matter what sort of information Mrs. Deng leaked to Silas throughout her five years of service. Five years was a long time and what was important was that no harm was done yet.

Even so, Heaven and Bear secretly prayed not to hear this one piece of information. Deep in their hearts, they hoped Mrs. Deng was just as clueless in this matter as she claimed. But reality proved to serve them what they didn't ask for.

"Young Madam, even if I get struck by lightning right now, I didn't collude with that woman!" Mrs. Deng defended. "Please, believe me!"
