Martin's hand on the steering wheel tightened since he had connected the call to his dashboard before answering it.
Lacking the words to explain without getting caught, he smiled a little before responding,
"Sabrina, it was nothing important, just a baseless argument I had with him about his reason for paying for our food. No matter how I accused him, he denied making a mistake."
Sabrina was displeased. She expected to hear something tangible. If it was just about the food, then Martin should not have swapped seats with Zayla, knowing how her presence nauseated Sabrina.
"Oh, I thought it was something important. Please let me know when you get home."
"Sure, I will."
Martin released a breath he did not know he was holding when the call ended. Sensing the disappointment in Sabrina's voice, he was saddened but was also grateful for escaping her many questions and being caught.
