TENSION BETWEEN TWO SIBLINGS
Jack had always been a loving brother to Camily. But something had changed in him after the death of Debbie. He had become distant and cold.
As he drove back home, he saw the family talking to their mother on the porch. Jack knew that he should acknowledge her presence, but he chose to ignore her greeting. Camily wasn't shocked by his behavior and didn't know what to do when he blatantly ignored her presence.
When Camily saw Jack, she greeted him warmly, but he replied reproachingly. "Hi," he said as he pushed his way past her and headed straight for his room.
Emily looked at her mother sadly. "Why is he still doing this to me after all the years that have passed, he still holds a grudge against me?" she asked.
"I don't know," replied their mother with a worried look on her face, she didn't like the tension between her children.
Lily, who was in Jack's room when he arrived, was equally puzzled by his behavior. When he walked in, she noticed that he seemed upset about something.
"Hey, Jack," she said tentatively. "Is everything okay?"
Jack didn't answer. He walked over to his bed and sat down. Lily could tell that he was in a bad mood.
"You know, you can talk to me about anything," she said gently.
Jack looked up at her, surprised by her kindness. "I'm fine," he said curtly.
Lily knew that he wasn't fine, but she decided to give him his space. She sat down next to him and waited for him to open up.
Finally, Jack spoke. "I don't want to talk about it," he said with a sigh.
Lily could sense his frustration. She didn't know what to do to help him. All she could offer was her company and a listening ear.
"I'll be here if you need me," she said softly.
Jack nodded his head in agreement, grateful for her presence but also confused by her sudden kindness towards him. When they were still in Capitol City, she couldn't stand his presence now she is the one coming closer, what the hell is wrong with Lily? Why the sudden change?
As he sat there in silence, he realized that he had been unfair to Camily, but he needed someone to blame apart from himself, he needed to blame someone else and the person he could blame was Camily.
Lily watched him with concern. She knew that Jack was going through a tough time, but she also knew that he was strong enough to get through it. She just hoped that he'd open up to her and let her help him.
He snapped out of his thoughts and narrowed his eyes at Lily suspiciously, "What is your game plan? Ever since we got here, you have been acting sweet and nice. You massaged my feet in the plane, you act weird."
Lily looked at him with her mouth wide open in incredulity, I treat you like a human and you are asking why, you want me to curse at you or what?"
Jack was lost for words as he didn't know what he wanted, "well just be normal, don't act sweet or nice." he quickly went to the bathroom to avoid Lily's incoming question.
