Shocking the World

"Hurry up! They've already started!" Urging his classmate Xie Xie excitedly looked over the small hill overlooking the training area dedicated to their leader. Breathing heavily Xu Xiaoyan slowly trudged her way up.

As soon as she arrived at the peak she was greeted by a cloud of dust that enveloped the entirety of the arena. Explosions rattled the area, the earth itself shaking slightly numerous times per second, and dust blocked their vision without fail. Only brief flashes of light and the debris that escaped the cage like arena were visible through the thick fog of dust.

"Looks like they're excited." Giggling softly at the overwhelming amount of pressure that descended on the area Xu Xiaoyan was relieved to see those two enjoying themselves. It had been a difficult set of years for them with Gu Yuena dedicating most of her time to the Spirit Pagoda and Wulin busy recuperating.

"Hm… I think I could beat the Boss." Grinning cheekily Xie Xie ignored Xu Xiaoyan's disappointed eyes. Wulin was strong as ever but he was clearly falling behind Gu Yuena's unstoppable momentum. He was going to lose for sure.

Wulin's two main strengths were his tyrannical power and unstoppable defenses. Three years ago, Xie Xie couldn't do anything against either but now he was different. He was a spirit ancestor now and his martial soul specialized against tough defenses.

Just as the thought solidly placed itself in his mind, the dust disappeared. No, it was wrong to say it disappeared. Instead, it had been condensed back into a solid block of earth the size of a small building before shrinking even further.

But, much to Xie Xie's dismay, that was only the start. Flying into the stratosphere the ball seemed to have its own gravitational field as the very earth began ripping itself apart to chase after the dirt orb.

Standing prone in the center Wulin watched as thousands of tons of earth were lifted into the sky, his grow growing as the final piece of earth attached itself to the sphere. Hovering high in the sky was a clump of earth dozens of kilometers wide and at least twice as tall glaring down at them all. If that fell, Gu Yuena would be fine with her elemental control but he would be injured.

"I bet he won't be hurt at all." Smiling slyly Xu Xiaoyan held absolute confidence in their leader, something that Xie Xie clearly didn't share. He had gotten a tad arrogant after three years of being the second strongest of the group so this would be a good wake up call.

"Are you kidding? Fine, it's your loss." Shrugging his shoulder with a smug grin Xie Xie returned his eyes to the meteor in the sky. That kind of attack… was terrifying, to say the least. He may not be injured by it because of his martial soul but the fact Gu Yuena could do stuff like this effortlessly was nightmare fuel.

Would Wulin be hurt though? No, probably not. Xie Xie had seen his leader take worse long ago and that was when Wulin was so injured he could hardly throw a punch. Wulin was a sturdy bastard and Xie Xie doubted the guy would ever be truly hurt. The bet was just an excuse to cheer up his classmate who was always down in the dumps. Still, he was sure he would win.

"Ragnarok." Gu Yuena's voice was quiet considering how far away they were but the glee within her voice was obvious enough to both of them, their grins growing endlessly. Falling from the sky the meteor slowly approached them and only then did Xie Xie realize something.

"Oh shit!" Grabbing his classmate in a hurry Xie Xie brought both of them into the reverse world in the blink of an eye. He hadn't even considered it but with a meteor that big they were also in the blast radius!

Gazing at the meteor rapidly approaching him Wulin's grin grew a tad crazed, excitement bubbling in his eyes. Planting his lower body firmly his hand moved slowly, his palm softly striking space itself.

Golden Dragon Shocks the World

Releasing the famed technique of the Scarlet Dragon Douluo a huge golden dragon dozens of meters long shot from Wulin's palm, a golden ripple moving in tow with the golden construct. It took only a second for the dragon to wrap itself around the meteor like a golden ring, the earthen construct stopping as though trapped in space before exploding into a fine dust.

It had been shockingly easy to merge the Disorderly Storm and Golden Dragon Shocks the Heavens though Wulin would be the first to admit it wasn't a perfect technique. It had less controlling power than the Disorderly Storm but in return, it had immense offensive power.

"... So I win right?" Piping in after a few moments of silence Xu Xiaoyan still couldn't believe what she had just seen. Despite having full confidence in Wulin she knew that Gu Yuena was a monster as well and she had three extra years to grow. 

Everybody knew that Wulin hadn't let the heavenly tribulation stop him from training but they also knew that he couldn't do much at all. He had been stuck at rank 39 for over two years because he couldn't make a breakthrough with the heavenly tribulation around.

Meanwhile, Gu Yuena had reached rank 53 and had power only just below that of a Soul Douluo, how could she reasonably have absolute confidence in Wulin? The fact that she thought he was even could win required an absurd amount of confidence let alone being one hundred percent sure he would win.

Gu Yuena had sat at the top for so long that her presence was one of absolute victory to most people. She never struggled let alone lost and she made everything seem so effortless. As much as it pained them to admit, most people just couldn't understand her. They treated her like a flower, beautiful and astounding but something to be admired not understood.

Gu Yuena didn't care about most people's opinion but now that Wulin was back in tip top shape, he could ease that edge just a bit. Really, Xu Xiaoyan couldn't think of a better match than those two in history. Even the Spirit Ice Douluo fell short.

"No way! He didn't even get hit by it so it doesn't count!" Denying her fiercely Xie Xie was prepared to die on this hill before Xu Xiaoyan took him on yet another one of her shopping sprees! There was nothing more terrifying than her in a mall.

"I totally counts~!" Playfully responding, Xu Xiaoyan was looking forward to tonight.

I'll admit that it's difficult to balance things with both Wulin and Gu Yuena being so strong, but I think it's worth it for things like this. These two are so much stronger than anyone their age that they don't quite fit in with anybody. It's sad but kind of romantic don't you think?
