Melanie led the group to her cabin by the water, however, it looked much bigger than the original and even had way more Pokemon than originally.
There are 3 Butterfree, a Caterpie, a Paras, a Magikarp, a Staryu, 3 Jigglypuff, 3 Golem, 2 Raticate, a Bellsprout, a Weepinbell, a Slowpoke, a Psyduck, 4 Tauros, a Venonat, and the Oddish from earlier.
As Ash was seeing all of the Pokemon he was surprised before he thought of something, 'Well she seems to be closer to her counterpart in the manga, but didn't she also have a Squirtle and a Damian's Charmander? Speaking of which, Damian in the manga was much nicer and actually cared for Charmander. I wonder if his personality will be similar, or maybe he will still act like his anime counterpart. Well, we will find out when we get there."
Meanwhile, Brock and Melanie were talking about caring for Pokemon and discussing what kind of plants are best. Misty and Yellow listened in, but Misty lost most of her interest and pulled Yellow aside to gossip about the two.
When they finally got to her cabin Brock decided to talk to the group, "How about I make dinner for everyone and the Pokemon."
Ash and Misty stared at each other and then nodded before Ash walked up, "No I'll cook Dinner for everybody you should relax besides you said you'd fix my Jacket," Ash said as he took off his torn Jacket and handed it to Brock.
As Ash gave it to Brock, Ash whispered to him, "Besides I'm sure you'd like to talk to Melanie some more." as he walked off as Brock started blushing.
"W-what are you talking about, besides you can't cook alone, there are way too many Pokemon," Brock said desperately trying to change the subject.
Ash started smiling, "Hmmm, you're right I can't do it alone. Hey Yellow, Misty wanna come to help me"
"Sure why not."
"Yeah!"
Ash, Misty, and Yellow walked off and Brock had to sigh as he sat down with Melanie.
"Your friends seem nice," Melanie said as she looked out at the Pokemon.
"They are," Brock said as he sat with her.
"Will they be alright making dinner for everyone?" Melanie asked.
"They'll be fine," Brock said looking at his friends, "But I wonder, can you tell me more about how you came here."
As Brock and Melanie were talking Ash, Misty, and Yellow were talking as they made dinner.
"Melanie seems nice, she loves to take care of Pokémon just like Brock," Yellow said.
"Well, it looks to me like there's something else Brock might love, heh," Misty said
"Well there's nothing to think it is painfully obvious," Ash said, "I wouldn't be surprised if he offered to stay here with her."
Misty laughed but Yellow seemed confused, "What do you mean?"
"Oh sweet summer child you don't know," Misty said.
"But I was born in spring," Yellow said, the entire conversation going over her head.
Ash and Misty looked at each other and proceeded to explain to her what they meant, after which she was left red as a tomato. Which made both Ash and Misty laugh a bit.
After they calmed down Ash took off his ripped gloves and threw them in his bag.
Yellow saw what he did and decided to ask, "Hey Ash, are you sure you're ok, you did say you were fine but I'm still worried."
"Yeah I'll be fine," Ash said, spinning his shoulder, "Nothing rest won't fix, I'll probably be fine tomorrow."
Yellow and Misty still seemed worried but they didn't press it, and so they helped to make the food for everyone.
Meanwhile, a certain small dinosaur-frog creature was staring at everyone from the forest.
Eventually, it was done and they called Brock and Melanie over, and Melanie called the Pokemon over since they didn't trust anyone else but their Goddess.
Everyone released all of their Pokemon and started passing out everyone's food. The Pokemon Melanie took care of were reluctant to eat it but they eventually started eating.
Meanwhile, Melanie was looking over everyone's Pokemon, "Wow all of your Pokemon are in great shape you all must take really good care of them."
"Of course we do, they are our friends," Yellow said as she gave her Pokemon their food.
Melanie smiled but then frowned when she realized that Bulbasaur wasn't eating with them.
Brock noticed Melanie frowning and decided to ask, "Is something wrong, Melanie?."
"No it's nothing, it's just that Bulbasaur isn't coming to eat with everyone, you see he doesn't like people, he barely liked me when I tried to help him," Melanie said sadly.
"His previous trainer left Bulbasaur extremely injured, if I hadn't got him when I did he might not have survived. His previous trainer thought he was weak and instead of working with Bulbasaur he left him injured not just from Pokemon battles but from his trainer too."
Everyone looked sad hearing the story and Brock looked a bit angry, "How could anyone treat their Pokemon like that, whoever they are they should have their trainer license revoked."
"That's terrible, I'm surprised he even opened up to you after what he went through," Misty said and Melanie nodded.
Ash thought of something so he suggested something, "Well if he doesn't want to eat with us here how about Pikachu take some food to him."
Pikachu who was eating got surprised to hear that Ash volunteered him to go find Bulbasaur, but Melanie smiled, "Well if Pikachu doesn't mind then I can tell him where Bulbasaur usually goes."
Pikachu wanted to reject, but seeing Melanie smile he couldn't bring himself to deny her request especially with all of the Pokemon in the village glaring at him. So he agreed and Melanie told him where Bulbasaur probably was, so he left for the direction with a bowl.
Melanie calmed down seeing that Pikachu went to give food to Bulbasaur so she sat down to also have dinner with everybody. She seemed to be very happy to have people over since she had stayed here in the forest alone for a long time.
(Pikachu POV)
Meanwhile, Pikachu was walking towards the spot he was told, and sitting and staring at the moon was Bulbasaur.
[Hey,] Pikachu called out.
Bulbasaur turned with his vines out ready to attack but calmed down seeing it was another Pokemon, [What do you want.]
Pikachu raised the bowl of food to Bulbasaur, [I brought you food since you weren't going down to eat with everybody else.]
Bulbasaur stared at it for a second before looking towards Pikachu, [Did Lady Melanie make it?]
[Well no,]
Bulbasaur immediately seemed uninterested, then his stomach rumbled.
[But she was the one to tell me to come and give it to you.] Pikachu said and that seemed to convince Bulbasaur enough.
Pikachu walked forward and put the bowl next to Bulbasaur, and he used his vines to grab the food and eat it.
Meanwhile, Pikachu was sitting down and eating his food while looking at the moon before he decided to ask something.
[Melanie was worried about you, why don't you go and eat with everyone else?]
[Usually, I would, but the problem is those humans, I can't stand them, they can't be trusted. They take and they take then when they are done with us they throw us away like property.] Bulbasaur in an angry tone.
[What about Melanie, why do you trust her, isn't she also a human?] Pikachu asked
Bulbasaur looked at Pikachu like he was stupid, [Don't compare Lady Melanie to those humans, she is a Goddess and I will do anything to protect her and everybody in this village.]
Bulbasaur then looked back at the moon, [What about you, why don't you help the other Pokemon escape from that human?]
Pikachu thought to himself for a second before answering, [Well to be honest I like traveling with those guys, they treat us like friends instead of tools.]
Bulbasaur didn't believe him, [That just means you are still useful to him, but as soon as you're no longer useful he will throw you away.]
[I gave him every reason to get rid of me and he still didn't.] Pikachu said, catching Bulbasaur's attention.
[When we started traveling we didn't get off on the right foot, I shocked him every chance I could but he still kept me, he even allowed me to choose if I wanted to stay with him or not.]
[Why didn't you?]
[Because he treated me well despite the fact I shocked him, and he started growing on me.] Pikachu said.
That made Bulbasaur remember how he treated Melanie when they first met, he would bite her, tackle her, and even whip her yet she never gave up on him. He still regretted it even after she forgave him.
They kept talking and over time Bulbasaur's started opening up.
The next day
(Ash POV)
Nothing else happened after Pikachu walked off, Brock and Melanie talked more about Pokemon, Yellow drew all of the Pokemon she could, and Misty played with the water Pokemon. And Pikachu eventually came back to them, he explained to Ash what happened then took his payment of Ketchup.
In the morning when everyone got up they all saw the Oddish from earlier walking towards them.
When Misty saw Oddish she turned to Melanie, "Will Oddish run away again if I try to apologize?"
"No, he won't." Melanie said as she called over the Oddish, "Do you want to join us?"
Oddish was hesitant to see everyone and their Pokemon, but seeing Melanie smile he eventually walked over.
Misty Keeled down to try and get to eye level with Oddish, though Oddish took a step back since he still remembered that Misty tried to capture him.
"Hi Oddish," Misty said, trying to be as friendly as possible.
Oddish didn't respond and just got ready to run if he needed to.
"Melanie told me your old trainer got rid of you. Was it really because he thought you were too weak?" Misty asked
"Oddish," he said sadly
"You know, some trainers can be insensitive. But not all of us are mean like that. You just need to find a trainer who understands you. Anyway, I'm sorry for what I did and I hope we can become friends."
Oddish started jumping, "Oddish. Oddish."
"Your so sweet Oddish," Misty smiled and patted Oddish
Yellow walked over seeing Misty and Oddish playing and wanted to join them.
Until they heard a growl coming from behind them and Ash went over to pull them out of the way, Barely dodging Bulbasaur from attacking them.
"What, you again, why do you keep antagonizing us!? It sounds like you are asking for a battle!" Misty yelled as she pulled out a Pokeball.
Until Melanie Jumped between the two to stop them.
"Please wait. Bulbasaur is only trying to protect Oddish. Bulbasaur volunteered to guard our whole village. It protects all the injured Pokémon whenever enemies try to attack them." she said
"So that's why Bulbasaur attacked me. It must've thought I was taking Oddish from the village." Misty concluded.
"Yes unfortunately Bulbasaur does his job too well, no pokemon wants to leave because it is too safe here."
Bulbasaur glared at everyone but didn't approach since Melanie told him not to.
"So, Bulbasaur wants us to leave," Brock concluded and Melanie nodded.
"Bulbasaur doesn't like Pokémon trainers. He wants you to leave the village now." Melanie said.
"But we're not here to capture Pokémon. We want to help you. It's true, Bulbasaur. These are our friends." Yellow said
But Bulbasaur didn't trust them and still glared at them as he backed up into the forest again.
"I'm sure when Bulbasaur sees we aren't here to capture any Pokemon he will warm up to us."
"I hope so,"
