Ashes to ashes

Despite Cael's hidden hopes, the initial hostile answer to its appearance didn't make the Starspawn fleet retreat. Instead, it split into four parts, which flew into the four corners of the Wingspan Continent.

There, they launched their attacks again, this time with more aim. Magical flames scorched the earth, purposefully striking buildings starting from the tallest. If local mages tried to retaliate and strike down the ships, they shot back.

Then it would become yet another skirmish at which the enemy had an advantage of a massive flying fortress on their side.

It would've been much easier to even try fighting Starspawn if they left their cover, but they knew that as well.

Cael imagined that if his world was a fort, protected by walls and with an army inside, then the Starspawns were using catapults to throw pots with alchemical fire inside.
