For whom does the bell toll?

'Is that thing what I think it is?' Ginevra sent Cael a telepathic message. Her eyes didn't move away from the thing in the crow-fetta's eye.

'I'm unsure. This might be the control artifact, but the bell could be it, too. Or something else in here…' Cael replied, analyzing the situation.

Near him, one of his saved animals lifted a hoof and pointed at the crow-woman. It bleated something, and Cael wished he understood the animal tongue. No such thing.

Either way, there was a possibility that the crow-woman wasn't bluffing. She certainly wasn't lying on purpose. Cael had to proceed carefully.

He also was sure that if he tried to dash through the lightning wall between himself and the crow-woman, it would break immediately after, leaving him defenseless amid the crowd of armed fettas. In the best-case scenario—it could give out before and let Cael be burned by the lightning.
