After all chimera is basically a creature created from combining multiple species into one......so personally I think maybe akerson managed to get blood and DNA samples from different covenant species (like brutes and elites) and will try to fuse them with Sam DNA. Kind of like how Peter got his powers from a gene modified spider bite.
