"You better run, if you want to live," Kendrick shouted at them, not bothering to even look back at all.
Lucian and Nate were shocked. Was he going to leave the kids to die?
'You fools! I said run, they are not your concern. You will not be able to fight it. You will both only end up dead.' Raphael said, sounding a little angry at how stupidly Lucian and Nate were behaving.
"But we can't leave them, they will die" Lucian spoke his words out loud.
"We have to help them. Diana is our friend we can't let her brother die..." Nate said.
"I'll destruct them. Try to free them from the slime as fast as possible. Raphael says it's a high-level beast. We can't fight it so we can only do this."
"Got it!"
Nate said as he dashed out toward the kids caught in the slime. Just as Nate dashed off, Lucian threw a big rock at the beast trying to attract its attention. But the beast seemed to have some sort of human intelligence as it realized the exchange between Nate and Lucian so it went rather after Nate who was heading to rescue its prey.
'Little guy, I told you two to run. It has high intelligence you cannot rescue those kids...' Raphael said sounding frustrated because he would not be able to help them if they fell in danger.
'But Raphael, we can't leave them to die. Especially Diana's brother. She took us as her friends before she left. Even if we don't save them all we could at least try to save him...' Lucian spoke as he ran on toward the serpent. Since the rock didn't work, his body could.
Seeing the annoying Lad in front of it, the serpent chose to finish him quickly by adding him to its prey. And then it would focus on the one trying to take its prey.
The serpent then began throwing its greenish-slimy fluid. It was very fast and agile, hence the fluids came out rather quickly.
Unfortunately, Lucian was fast. Though not as fast as it was, it was enough for him to dodge on time.
Nate had gotten closer to the first kid, which fortunately was Diana's brother. He seemed to be trying so hard to break free from the fluid and it looked impossible. The fluid seemed alive which was shocking. When a part of it is torn open, it manages to grow false feet, that move to seal that part making it difficult to escape.
Nate brought out his hand, trying to tear open the slimy fluid, but just like how it did when Darian was trying to free himself, It grew a false foot and resealed the open part. He kept trying but it kept resealing. The annoying thing was that it grew another foot that enveloped his hand, gluing it firmly to Darian's body and he couldn't get them off. Nate was starting to get frustrated. If he didn't get this done with, then Lucian was going to be in danger. He had to help him.
Thinking this way and remembering this qi thing Arthur had taught them, he decided to try and see if he could do something with it. They were only at the first stage of qi, which was harnessing it.
Nate tried to infuse his harnessed qi into his palms, but it wasn't working, or rather he didn't know what he was doing. He was so frustrated and he remembered Arthur saying, you could only manipulate your qi with a calm mind and he didn't think he could be calm at the moment. Since all he could feel was frustration, he just kept forcing something out of him, just anything at all.
That was when he felt it. A very cool rush flowed through his hands to his palms. He had initially thought it was the qi, but the thing came freezing the slime covering his palms and spreading to the slime covering Darian's body breaking it into pieces.
Darian was finally free from his struggle, then looking up to see his savior, he was shocked. It was one of the boys he warned his sister to stay away from. Looking at the ice cracks on the ground, he wondered what the boy before him was. Was he also a witch? But it was impossible, he didn't think he heard him chanting any spells. Also, he heard it was the other one that was the freak not this one.
Nate had a weird expression on his face. What the hell! Was this the qi Arthur was talking about? But he didn't recall Arthur saying it comes out as ice. Well, whatever! it was helping at this moment and anything that could help him assist Lucian was welcomed.
"You need to run..." Nate said and rushed to the other kids to help them out. The same thing with Darian occurred with them. He didn't know how he was doing it, but it seems his frustration was playing out quite well at the moment.
On the other hand, Lucian was not faring out so well. He was storing time by constantly sliding and dodging making sure the green slime did not touch him. It was all thanks to the fact that he had strength above the average human. At the same time, he was starting to feel depressed. The snake seemed to have an infinite source of annoying saliva, that he couldn't help cursing it.
Well...the feeling was mutual. The beast was equally going hyper as none of the fluids it threw managed to hit the target. It was starting to increase the size of the fluid it was spitting so Lucian's narrow escapes would not work.
Seeing this, Lucian becomes much more annoyed as he increases his speed. Somehow he wondered why his mixed emotions were not triggering the beast inside of him.
'Raphael, what the hell is this beast, does it never stop spitting? It's disgusting...'
'It's a diamond-scaled python, and high leveled one. It can spit at you forever. You were the ones who wanted to play heroes...' Raphael responded quietly
'Can't you do something?' Lucian asked as he barely dodged one huge spit directed at him.
'No, I asked you both to run...' Raphael said harshly. He had been contemplating whether to remove the spell on Lucian's devil. But he would never be able to recast it if that happened. Lucian was so stubborn and knowing him, he would never leave until everyone was safe.
Darian, who was asked to run had hesitated. Looking around, he realized the people he came with, including their teacher who had brought them for this beast hunt had already run off knowing some of them were stuck there. If it hadn't been for these two boys, he would have been dead. He didn't want to be a coward, so he rushed weakly to Nate to help free the others. Although he knew he wouldn't be of much help. He had a recovery potion by his grandmother which he never wanted to use out of pride. This could help the other kids.
