"Okay, now I want to know him. But wait...how did you two meet him. I've told you to be careful with strangers..." Anna asked, scrutinizing her gaze
Lucian and Nate stared at each other, they hadn't thought about how to explain this side of the story.
"We met him when we were sparing together. He thought we were good, so he decided to train us..." Nate responded on time and Lucian nodded his head fast to agree.
"Well, if you say so. You can bring him tomorrow..."
The boys smiled and Nate packed his stuff and left for his house.
"Mother, is grandmother still on it? Will she be fine? Is there anything we can do to help?" Lucian asked Anna.
Worry was etched on his face. He didn't like how Liz was shouldering all the burden.
Anna sighed, she wasn't sure herself. She still haven't found a way to awaken what was in her so she couldn't tell Lucian yet.
"She'll be fine, Liz is not as weak as we think," she said but it sounded like she was consoling herself.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the road, the four carriages were still rolling.
"Your Highness, do you think that the strange man will follow us into the town to search for your sister..." John asked Andrew
" Yes, my father wouldn't miss this opportunity..."
" Should we stop the carriages and search around?"
"No, it's not necessary. If he's following, it's good. We can make him think we've let our guard down. It will also prevent the king from keeping too much eye on whatever I do if he thinks am not being too vigilant..." Andrew said calmly.
John nodded in agreement. That made sense too.
In a dark room, a man dressed in a black robe sat on the ground crossed-legged. He had a small pot of thawed potion in front of him. Staring into the potion were deep purple eyes that looked far from that of humans.
Smiling, he cut his palms and let the blood drip into the potion, causing the strange liquid to boil for a few minutes and then suddenly turn still, as if no change had happened before.
He poured the liquid into a black flask and his lips turned upwards. The smile was far from ordinary. It could make anything in sight shiver. Tomorrow will be a good day. He was going to start creating one formidable sorcerer.
At dawn, Liz still sat in the middle of the strange circle she had drawn. A visible magical golden array could be seen spreading from her palms. It seemed to carry a strong force that caused Liz's complexion to look paler. The array spread throughout the cottage and naturally, it had an impact on the young abnormal boy in his room. Lucian suddenly felt a rush of excitement. His internal body felt vitalized and it looked like he was sucking in the power released in the cottage.
In Liz's room, there was a sudden frown on her face. The power she was releasing seemed to not get further out of the cottage.
Was she not putting in more?? Was there a fault with the symbols she had drawn?? Thinking she was probably not putting in more effort, she began pushing her mana further. This caused her to look extremely pale. Her lips had turned dry and there were visible cracks on them.
In Lucian's room, the power kept being drawn into him making him crazily excited that he wasn't thinking straight. The feeling was addictive like he was under the influence of a drug.
'Lucian, turn off all your senses.'
Raphael's voice rang in his head. But he felt too excited to care.
'Lucian, you will hurt your grandmother if don't control yourself now. You are sucking in all the power she is drawing out to create the spell...'
Lucian was drawn back to his senses at the mention of his grandmother. Then he suddenly remembered his grandmother was practicing magic. He felt guilty but he couldn't control it.
'How do I turn it off?' He asked
"Close your eyes and imagine turning a candlelight off. The light represents your senses and turning it off will represent the absence of your senses' Raphael explained
Lucian understood and followed suit. Suddenly he could hear and felt nothing. It almost felt similar to death. As he couldn't feel anything, he ceased to absorb the released power in the cottage.
The array then spread to the outside of the cottage and formed a barrier. To the outside world, the place looked like a part of a forest. Liz made it in a way that only those she knew will not bring harm, will be able to see it as it truly is. But outsiders could only see it as a forest and be hypnotized by it.
After the spell was activated, she heaved a sigh and collapsed to the floor.
In Lucian's room, though he could not feel everything around him. He could feel everything that went on inside of him. He saw himself in a dark room and there was a lingering spirit in a human form in front of him. Somehow he knew it was Raphael.
" Little lass, that was close. You were almost out of control just now..."
"Raphael..." Lucian called out, there was a smile and also a look of curiosity on his face. Was this the facial look of all humans? Today he was speaking to Raphael in a new way... He always only heard his voice... And he was seeing him in the way humans looked. It fulfilled his curiosity as to what humans and himself looked like. But it was still just in a spirit form without flesh...
"Well...you wouldn't have to turn off your senses next time... you can just control it into not absorbing it...and why are you smiling...do I look that handsome?"
Lucian chuckled, "You are sounding more and more like Nate..."
"You dare compare me to that friend of yours? humph..." Raphael pouted and turned sideways folding his spirit arms.
Lucian thought he looked really cute and funny. So this was the 'cute' they say people could look sometimes? Because Raphael's behavior just made him smile. But of cause, he wouldn't dare say it out loud. He still cherished his life.
"Of course not your highness... Anyway, I don't know what people look like so I don't know what being handsome looks like ... But Nate has been self-claiming it all the time. So am guessing it's good. So yes, you are handsome..." Lucian said with a smile
Raphael scoffed, could this kid not be any more sarcastic...
"Anyway, the spell has been activated...turn on your senses. You have a hectic training tomorrow, you should go back to sleep..."
Lucian looked a little disappointed. He had wanted to be with Raphael a little, but he had to rest.
Raphael saw that and smiled. "Don't worry, we can still talk like this tomorrow. Now turn it back on."
"Really??"
"Yes... turn it on"
Lucian did so and went to bed.
