Colette stopped underneath the flickering lights and looked around for any signs of life besides the rats that scurried through the tunnels.
There were people milling about, but she detected no heartbeats. Vampires? Or something more? She swallowed hard, wondering where in the hell she’dended up. The lights were dim here but her biological night vision activated immediately.
Everything illuminated as though she were standing in broad daylight. Colette hurried along the tracks, hoping that there would be another doorway in one of the walls. But how would she know if there was?
Maybe the lingering scent of blood would tip her off.
She took in a deep breath and moved further into the tunnels, on the alert for any places where the smell of blood was heavy. Colette found herself inside a crossroads, pausing to examine her surroundings.
