Chapter 4: Inhabitant (3)

It was naked and covered in filthy blue liquid. Its body felt a little weak, but it was able to get itself on its feet. Although they trembled as it stood, it still managed to hold on.

Once it finally managed to steady itself, the goblin, which was just born less than three minutes ago, turned to see its surroundings. And as it did, it found its gaze locked on the beautiful blue sphere that was half submerged in the rocky ground. It emitted a cyan light that made the goblin feel like it had been given life.

As it was a newborn, the goblin was very curious about its surroundings, so when it saw the big glowing ball, it was very interested. That's why it inched closer to get a touch. but before it could touch the giant ball that was many times bigger than itself, the ball suddenly changed colors.

Due to the goblin's ignorance, the creature was startled. It fell to the ground with a 'bang.' Luckily, though, the creature did not fall on its head; otherwise, the blue sphere would have watched as its first inhabitant died a few minutes after birth.

The goblin watched as the sphere changed from one color to the next in rapid succession.

After a little while of watching, the goblin noticed that the ball was not dangerous at all. So its curiosity was once again peeked. It inched closer to the big glowing ball with intentions to touch it. The glowing ball changed color once more, but this time it was not just a single color but a mixture of blue and yellowish brown.

This time, the goblin was not startled, as this has happened many times before. But it seemed that the goblin was wrong, as a few seconds later, a new color, never seen before, covered the sphere.

Green.

The color bloomed within the giant ball. And a few of the stars converged; from those stars, something seemed to have been formed. The object moved from the middle of the sphere until it reached the edge.

pah!

The object fell to the ground. It was a round, green object that had a good resemblance to an apple. Seeing this novel object, the goblin was curious and thus went forward. It gasped at the green object and sniffed it with its green nose. It then had a strong urge within itself. It had the urge to eat the fruit. The goblin did not waste time; it sank its teeth deep into the fruit and chewed. But not even a second after it did, the goblin spat the bitten part out.

The fruit was terribly bitter and felt like dirt. Like a fruit should, it had water, but the water tasted funny. The goblin thus deemed this weird thing inedible. Little did it know that someone else had come to the same conclusion as well.

The goblin turned back to the giant luminous ball once more. As a dungeon inhabitant, the creature had a basic knowledge inheritance. That means that upon birth, it should have common sense. So although this was the first time it had seen the dungeon core, it was able to recognize it as its parent.

At that moment, there was another green flash. It was not that much different from before. And just like before, an object was formed. The object fell to the ground.

It was another fruit.

It looked very similar to before, and there really wasn't any difference from the one spit out before.

The goblin picked up the new fruit. Once again, it had the urge to bite into the fruit. But it hesitated. The fruit looks just the same as the one that tasted bitter. Why should it eat? It's just going to taste terrible again, right?

chomp!

The goblin sunk its teeth deep into the fruit. But unlike what was expected, the fruit wasn't as terrible as the one before. Well, this one didn't taste great either, but it was something the goblin could eat. So it swallowed the fruit.

But a second later, the creature puked out all its insides. Hurling out the fruit and some left-over blue liquid in its stomach.

While the goblin puked its insides out, the blue luminous ball once again flashed with a different color, only this time a golden glow.

After the goblin was done, the new color changed. It got up and looked in front of it. The goblin had thought that another 'fruit' would appear again, but it was wrong again. As Instead of fruit, golden liquid started seeping off the sphere. Forming small trails on the ground.

The goblin was once again tempted to put the object in its mouth.

But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. But you will never fool me three times!

The goblin, though, was licking the golden liquid on its finger. It was only a second later that the goblin noticed that it was actually putting the liquid in its mouth. But it was too late; it had already tasted it.

The goblin stopped, waiting for the horrid taste to kick in. But there was no horrible taste. It was, in fact, delicious. The goblin was confused, but that did not stop it from getting more of the liquid.

As the goblin licked its fingers, it did not know that someone was watching it.

"It seems like my idea is possible. Life magic combined with water magic can create a liquid that can support life functions. With this, I don't have to worry about the inhabitants starving before I connect to a world."

All that has been happening to the goblin was, of course, the child's doing. Because he is required to make food or any edible object for his inhabitants, the child has been using his ether to create a possible food source.

For the first time, he fused water-type and earth-type ether to make plant-type ether. He used the plant type Ether to create an apple. Using his connection to the goblin, he ordered it to eat the apple. Sadly, his first apple was a failure. as the goblin spat it out.

He changed the way he made the fruit just a little bit so that it should be edible and not bad for the mouth. He then ordered the goblin to eat it again. It seemed like he had succeeded, but the goblin ended up puking like crazy.

Seeing this, he concluded that plant magic was not the right way to go. So he had an idea: "Why don't I just give them pure life energy instead? This way, they won't have to worry about food rejection.'

So to do that, he created life magic. Which was just a special form of light magic. By making the ether move differently than it originally did, it was able to transition from light to life.

Using that life magic, he fused it with water magic. Making a weird golden liquid. Because it was not recorded in his inheritance, he did not know what type of ether it was, but he just called it life water.

The best part is that the water did its job. The goblin did not die or start puking its insides out after drinking. But the child wanted to be sure that he had truly succeeded. So he wanted to wait for a whole day before he could call it a success.

A whole day passed without the goblin or the child doing anything. And since the days have passed without the goblin dying or something else happening, he deemed it a success. Well, he would have preferred to watch it for a little while longer, but that would waste a lot of time. So he just went with it.

"Since I now have a somewhat stable food source, I guess I should create more goblins."

After all, one single goblin isn't going to protect him.
