Broken Ambition

Otuken rampage like a monster but there is a limit to his strength and rampage. He is an old man and even though anger and wrath is a great motivator in battle, his body could not keep up with it.

His body is riddled with arrows and there is all kinds of cut wounds all over his body.

After killing nearly, a hundred men, there he is.

On the middle of an empty area with hundred more of Garron warriors surrounding him from safe distance.

His chest is heaving up and down, blood flows from every wound on his body and his hand on the spear finally loosened.

The spear fell down from his hand, the spear rolls in the grass that is drenched with blood.

At this time, the line of the warrior opens up and Garron slowly rides to him on horseback. Garron seems clen compared to Otuken.

Garron method was very simple. He simply isolate Otuken and each time there is distance between Otuken and his soldiers, his warrior would rain him down with a arrows

The fact that he could go this far is simply because he is angry and full of wrath and his emotion and will sems to carry him through his injuries

His shoulder and many of his bones are broken. There is deep piercing wounds all over his things and chest

His warriors army has collapsed

His son is killed and he even lost his wife. In one day of battle, the Ghar tribe is finished. This kind of thing is common as usual in the Great Steppe.

But Otuken must feel that it is unfair.

He could not have imagined that his defeat would come from someone he never expected. Not from the Xewa tribe.

Not from the other tribes that was eyeing his tribe. But from an insignificant small tribe that he had managed to expel from the great Steppe.

A tribe that he did not even put in his mind

It is the young leader o that tribe that force him to this path.

He didn't even know that young chief very much.

But in the Great Steppe, asking for reason is the stupidest thing to ask. Because in the Great Steppe, the only reason that is valid is the size of your fist.

His fist is small and so he would get beaten down.

He could accept it.

He just doesn't understand it.

Garron sees that sanity has returned back to Otuken.

But he also could see that this is simply the clarity before death. Even if Garron did not do anything to him, Otuken has already exhausted his entire body

Garron look at him and he bows slightly to him, showing his respect

Otuken only smiles bitterly. Then he look up at the blue sky. The cold wind blows, the warmth shines on his body, the sky is blue like ever, clear and beautiful;

And he close his eyes and he takes his last breath

Garron sighed.

Suh a warrior deserve an honourable death

He then takes a breath and then he shouted

'Otuken is dead! Lay down your weapons and surrender!'

The moment this was shouted, the Ghar tribe warriors immediately crumbles.

Some of the warriors quickly retreated. These are people that would not want to surrender or those who knew if they surrender they would be executed anyway so they chose to retreat

But most of the common warriors of the tribe chose to lay down their arms and surrender

Garron send his men to chase down the retreating warriors.

On the other side of the battle however Aeryon and Belarion is beating the warrior of Xewa tribe.

Garron saw it and simply said

'Send two hundred men to encircle the Xewa tribe. We must not let Xeqani escape' Waqu nodded and he quickly goes to relay the order.

Garron look at the battlefield for a moment before he rides to his men.

Hours of battles and finally the battle is over.

Xeqani is on the ground.

His horse is dead, lying beside him. Some of his other son managed to run but his men and his warriors is dead. All around him all he could see is corpses of people

There, on the sky, the sun is covered with clouds. Dark clouds are gathering and the wind is cold.

He heaved his chest up and down.

each breath he takes feel harsh to his lungs.

There is wounds all over his body. There is hundreds of men that encircles him. But none of them come forward, standing a safe distance from him.

He knows when he is beaten.

And he knows why these warriors did not rush to take his head

Because there is someone that will be coming. He stands there and waits. He knows who will be coming. But he still waits.

Just standing there took a lot of effort on his part. even though he felt like he would collapse he keeps standing there. The clouds above become darker and darker and more and more clouds gather.

The clouds covers the sun and the area seems dark. The lines of the warriors that encircle him suddenly opens up and someone come froward. There is a young man.

This young man has grey hair, thin eyebrows, long wavy hair.

His grey hair is coloured red, his face is wet with blood of his enemies

A young man with a fierce green eye. He seems taller than his own heigh, the aura of a strong man, the aura of a man who had killed hundreds of men

The young man is only five feet six but as he comes closer, he almost sems like he had doubled his height. Xeqani shook his head and he could see clearly again.

Still a five feet six young man.

'Aeryon…Son of Rakarys' he mutters.

Aeryon look at Xeqani. He nodded.

'You are a great warrior. If it were not for the fact that you killed my father, I would have wanted to spare you.'

Xeqani only chuckles at this even when chuckling made his ribs feel hurt

Aeryon close his eyes for a few second and then opening it, he said

'You killed my father. Prepare to die' there is not many words and there shouldn't be that many words. This is a normal story in the Great Steppe.

Today, you killed people, tomorrow people killed you. The world is harsh and you have to fight and kill

He did not regret that he killed Aeryon father. He only regrets that he did not chase the Brolgadhr tribe and kills all of them

And because he makes this mistake, today happened. He wonders what Aeryon would do to his tribe after he is dead.

Will he slaughter all of them intending to not make this same mistake? Or will he choose a different direction?

Xeqani failed today but Aeryon look at him and he could not help but respect Xeqani. This is a generation of heroes

His ambition might not be grand, but he has the power to stand at higher position. And maybe when eh reached higher heights, he could have a larger and more grand ambition

But whatever he is supposed to be in the future, today, his future is cut short. Aeryon believe that if he did not have the system, he would find it hard to kill Xeqani and to kill him today.

If Aeryon followed the original Aeryon plans, it might take decades before he could exact his revenge. But even so, the original Aeryon would be able to do it without the system

So, Aeryon did not feel superior to Xeqani even when he is winning. Instead, he could only feel humble.

But humility is one thing. Things that should be done and must be done is a different matter entirely.

Today, this person would fall

Xeqani close his eyes as he look toward the sky.

Swish!

Everyone heard the sound of a sword cutting the wind but Xeqani felt the pain in his throat and on his neck.

Warmth and pain flooded his entire body

the blood spurted out and Xeqani, his face is still looking at the sky, fall down to the ground. His face landed on the muddy ground

And he gurgles and twitched, his mouth taste the ground and the gras, the soil and the blood that flows near his body.

Above, thunder suddenly erupted. Lightning appears. And raindrops slowly falls down from the sky, drenching everyone wet and purifying the red soaked ground

The frozen blood on the ground slowly melted under the pelting of the raindrops and so a red flow of water could be seen from a mile away..

Xeqani dies and the battle ended

Aeryon did not feel happy at all. He come froward, looking at the dead body of Xeqani.

'You are a great hero. You trample other people for your ambition. I did not hate you for that because this is the life in the Great Steppe and this is the conduct of the strong. In a world where strength reign supreme, this is only logical.'

So, do not blame me for trampling you today. In a world of one-eyed humans, having two eyes is weird'

He grips his sword and swing his sword again, and the head is cut off and he announced the death of the Xewa tribe by holding the head of their tribe chief

'Xeqani is dead. My vengeance is completed. Put down your weapons and you will be spared!' he shouted and this shout is the straw that break the camel back.

Otuken is dead. Xeqani is dead. And so, the battle has been decided.

Today, two tribes was destroyed.

Ghar tribe and Xewa tribe, two of the rising tribe near the north has been cut off by a young chief of a small tribe with the help of the Viper.

It would not be long before this matter would send shockwave all over the Great Steppe
