The Three Jiang Brothers

It has been years since he had returned home and now that he had returned, he looks at the county and many things had changed.

He wanted to go out and see what the fuss was about when he heard that someone posted a notice and so he reads it

And now that he reads it, he is heavy hearted

He sighed and he looks at the sky and spoke a few poems. He returns home with this complicated feeling and as he enters the house, he saw his third brother on the courtyard.

He sat down and sighed again.

'Brother, why are you sighing?'

Jiang Bei look at his brother. It is a man about his own height, with a bullet head like a leopard's, large eyes, a swallow pointed chin, and whiskers like a tiger's.

He spoke in a loud bass voice and looked as irresistible as a dashing horse. This is his brother Jiang Fei

Jiang Bei then told his brother the notice and Jiang Fei sighed, just like his brother.

'We are of the descendant of the imperial family. Now, the Great Yan is overrun by bandits and rebellion are springing up all over the country. I am worried'

Even though, Jiang Bei knew that saying his identity would get sneered at by people, he was used to it.

As long as his heart is sincere, why does he have to care about the sneer of the people of the world?

Jiang Bei spoke of his concern and Jiang Fei nodded. Even though they are not recognized in the lineage, they are surnamed Jiang

Jiang Bei could only lament his own helplessness.

Jiang Fei look at his oldest brother and then frowned. He then said

'Brother why are you so worried? I have the means to ease your worry'

Jiang Bei looked up to his third brother and ask

'What is your means?

'Raise troop and command soldiers! We do what we should do and defend our Great Yan!'

Jiang Bei thought about it and he nodded.

Jiang Fei is different from Jiang Bei.

Jiang Bei since young was nurtured among the scholars and even have met many scholars and learn from master.

He always feels guilty that both of his tow brothers did not have the same treatment as he was.

But even with this advantage given by them, their brotherhood is strong and sturdy.

This has a lot to do with their mother teaching and it is because of that, these three brothers are as sturdy as a bulk of arrow tightly woven together, their bond is unbreakable.

Jiang Bei thought of Jiang Fei proposition and he believe it could work.

Jiang Fei also knows many brigands all over the county and he is harsh and rough but is well-liked by many people because of his straightforwardness

'We must find Second Brother and speak with him about this matter' Jiang Fei was delighted and rush out of the house to seek their second brother

Not long after, their second brother is back. Their second brother has a large frame of body, with long beard, a vivid face and deep red lips.

He had eyes like a phoenixes and fine bushy eyebrows like silkworms. His whole appearance was dignified and awe-inspiring.

This is the second brother of the Jiang family of Zhuo.

Jiang Yu.

Out of the three brothers, Jiang Yu is very adept at fighting.

When his older brother went to go to be educate by great master, Jiang Yu did not complain or sulk and instead, he went to goes to meet great fighters all over Hebei and learns from them.

So, he did not only master many methods of fighting, he iso also the strongest among the three.

He also had a streak of temper sometimes and sometimes rash but he always could be calmed by his older brother and his third brother.

Jiang Bei look at his second brother and then invited him to sit. Then he spoke what is in his heart and Jiang Yu hearing this nodded and put his hand on Jiang Bei shoulder

'Brother, you thought the same as me. I have also read the notice'

'And what did you think? Jiang Bei asked

'I thought of offering myself to the army. I am glad that my brother also thinks the same way' Hearing this Jiang Bei is even more overjoyed.

Their three brothers have always been inseparable from each other but this kind of thing is not some play thing.

But now, all of his brother had the same intention, so how could he not be happy? They then polished their ideas and then after a while Jiang Fei said

'There is a peach three behind the house that are just in full bloom. Tomorrow we will institute a sacrifice there and solemnly declare our intention before Heaven and Earth, and we three will swear unity of aims and sentiments: Thus, will we enter upon our great task."

Both Jiang Bei and Jiang Yu gladly agreed.

All three being of one mind, next day they prepared the sacrifices, a black ox, a white horse, and wine for libation.

Beneath the smoke of the incense burning on the altar, they bowed their heads and recited the oath as they kowtow to Heaven and Earth

Then they rose from their knees.

This solemn ceremony performed, they slew other oxen and made a feast to which they invited the villagers.

Three hundred people joined them, and all feasted and drank deep in the Peach Garden.

The next day weapons were mustered. But there were no horses to ride. This was a real grief. But soon they were cheered by the arrival of two horse dealers with a drove of horses.

"Thus, does Heaven help us!" said Jiang Bei.

And the three brothers went forth to welcome the merchants.

They were Zhang Siping and Su Huang from Zhongshan.

They went northwards every year to buy horses.

They were now on their way home because of the rebellion all over the Empire.

The brothers invited them to their house, where wine was served before them.

Then Jiang Bei the most eloquent of the three brothers told them of their plan to strive for tranquillity.

The two merchants hear Jiang Bei and was persuaded because of the grand cause of these three brothers

Moved by Jiang Bei, they at once gave the brothers fifty good steeds, and besides, four hundred ounces of gold and silver and one thousand five hundred pounds of steel fit for the forging of weapons.

The brothers expressed their gratitude, and the merchants took their leave.

Jiang Fei saw that they now have a steel and so he said to his brother

'Second brother and me are great at fighting and older brother also a great fighter. Normal weapons would break if it used by us. Let us go find a blacksmith to craft us a new weapon'

They all agreed and so blacksmiths were summoned to forge weapons.

For Jiang Bei they made a pair of ancient swords; for Jiang Bei is most proficient in the use of sword

For Jiang Yu they fashioned a long-handled, curve blade called Green-Dragon Saber, which weighed a full three hundred pounds;

When Jiang Yu swings it, the wind howls and the ground beneath his feet crack showing how strong Jiang Bei second brother really is

Just wielding such a heavy weapon would exhaust a person but Jiang Yu was born with innate strength

for Jiang Fei they created a ten-foot spear called Serpent Halberd.

Jiang Fei practice using it and, in his hand, variation of attacks could be performed, using it against people, the enemy would feel like a snake slithering on their body and when they least expect it, the halberd would pierce or cut you

Jiang Fei was satisfied with his weapon and laughed loudly.

Each too had a helmet and full armour.

When weapons were ready, the troop, now five hundred strong, marched to Commander Zhou Jing, who presented them to Imperial Protector Jiang Yan.

When the ceremony of introduction was over, Jiang Bei declared his ancestry, and Jiang Yan at once accorded him the esteem due to a relation.

Before many days it was announced that the rebellion had actually broken out, and a Yellow Scarves chieftain, Cheng Yuanzhi, had invaded the region with a body of fifty thousand rebels.

Jiang Yan bade Zhou Jing and the three brothers to go out to oppose them with the five hundred troops.

Liu Bei joyfully undertook to lead the van

He spoke with his brothers

'This is the time to make merit' and he marched to the foot of the Daxing Hills where they saw the rebels.

The rebels wore their hair flying about their shoulders, and their foreheads were bound with yellow scarves.

This is the Yellow Turbans

When the two armies had been drawn up opposite each other, Jiang Bei rode to the front, Jiang Yu to his left, Jiang Fei to his right.

They begin the battle and Jiang Fei, the brave man he is rode forward fearlessly his serpent halberd poised to strike.

Both soldiers watched as Jiang Fei thrusted his weapon and Deng Mao, with all of his angers and all of his talk, rolled off his horse

'Jiang Fei!

'Jiang Fei!' the soldiers cheered the name

Jiang Fei only needed one move to pierce through Deng Mao heart

Jiang Fei laughed and his demeanour of a great general shines.

Cheng Yuanzhi saw this and he himself whipped up his steed and rode forth with sword raised ready to slay Jiang Fei.

'Go, Second brother!' Jiang Bei order.

Jiang Yu laughed with a hearty laugh and he rode toward Cheng Yuanzhi, swinging up his green-dragon sabre

At the sight, fear seized upon Cheng Yuanzhi, and before he could defend himself, the great saber fell, cutting him in halves.

'Attack!' Jiang Bei shouted and with the morale of the enemy fallen, the winning side is clear at a glance.

Their leader fallen, the rebels threw away their weapons and fled.

The official soldiers dashed in among them. Many thousands surrendered and the victory was complete

From then on, spread the reputation of the three Jiang brothers of Zhuo county, one who is the descendant of Prince Zheng of Zhongshan
