Even the basic body modification spells that were part of his Inheritance were an incomplete version of the [Body Control] spell, a combination of fire, water, lightning and earth magic. It was how the Seraphim granted the wishes of those whose bodies were infirm, as the knowledge imparted to Wolfe included the technique by which a being of the Upper Planes could use Light Magic and its own blood to simulate any other spell effect.

That ability was absolutely overpowered, but the beings of the Upper Planes already had immense power on their side, passed through their bloodlines at a level that put even the offspring of the Demon Kings to shame. It was their glacial growth rate that prevented them from overtaking the other planes. 

Any loss of life on their part was an absolute tragedy, and couldn't easily be replaced, even given a millennium of training their successor.
